Dr. Donahue is a very nice man- compassionate and an excellent surgeon. I presented as an unusual situation, being an actively breastfeeding mother and having a mass. I felt like I had to pester him to take out the mass, with an excisional biopsy, because of his reluctance. He was not aware that weaning is a process and the breast can still lactate for months after weaning. He was not very up-to date on -research, but he was willing to listen to me. I did not call him afterwards when I was experiencing complications because they were secondary to the lactating breast, and I felt I would just have to wing it. After 3 1/2 months my incision finally healed, but latching on for an infant is difficult because the nipple is to one side since the surgery. Dr Donahue is a well respected, and an excellent surgeon. Under my unusual circumstances, he was a good choice. I wish he and the other physicians in town would do some more research on issues for breast-feeding moms though.
