I took my 4-year old son to him for a consultation and would never visit him again for the following three key reasons:
1- He wanted to perform a surgery on a broken nose 8 days after it was broken. Apparently, by then the nose would have already healed and such operation would have involved some breaking of what has already been healed, something that he never mentioned to us.
2- He exaggerated the situation of my son's nose and tried to make the risks seem to minor. He said that the operation only takes 10 minutes and the only risk is with the anesthesia. Later, I learned that we would have taken much more risks. we needed to make sure that our 4.5 year old son did not do any activity or play actively. The doctor did see how active our son is and how challenging it would have been for us to take care of him after the operation for 6 weeks. However, he did not say anything about such challenges. Apparently he only considered his own time (about 10 minutes for the operation). He never explained the situation and the risks involved and let us evaluate the situation.
In my opinion, he seems to be so focused on making money, that he put his financial interests ahead of my son's well-being and tried rushed us to doing an operation (glad that we did not do it after getting opinions from other doctors). I was so surprised at his behavior. I would have expected such behavior and persuasion attempts from a car dealership, but not from a doctor. His behavior was so unethical. Who would do this to a kid?
To give you more information about the situation: my 4.5-year old son fell and had a fracture on his nose last Sunday. I took him to an ENT specialist at ENT and Allergy Associates the day after (on Monday). The doctor was great and he suggested that my son's nose was functionally ok, and most likely cosmetically fine. He said that if it was his son, he would simply leave it. However he suggested that we could visit Dr. Yung at the end of the week (Thursday) if my wife and i were concerned with the cosmetics to get a second opinion.
While my son's nose didn't look so bad, my wife and I decided to take him to Dr. Yung. The moment he saw my son, he began emphasizing that our 4.5 year old son needed a surgery and rushed to book an operation room at the hospital for the following Monday. He filled out all paperwork before even examining our son! Since I am not a doctor, I decided to get opinion from other doctors at other places including doctors in the area and and my conclusions were summarized earlier.
I noticed a sign in the clinic that there is a charge for consulting with Dr. Yung about cosmetic consulting. I would not consult with him about anything, because his focus is his financial interests and not patient's well being.
