I am very happy this gym is under new management. Now the gym is clean and the equipment actually works. After seeing all the new plans the staff has for this gym, I know I will be working out here for years. Thank you Funxional Fitness for giving me a great place to workout.

I got a free week pass to this gym once and found it to be really rewarding. It was a little small for my taste but is great if you are a celebrity that wants some extra privacy while you work out. I went to one class here as well and the teacher was really nice.

I had an accident and chose Synergy for my physical therapy. I had never been to physical therapy before and didn't know what to expect. My therapist was Darla and she was great - helped get my neck and hand back into shape. She was friendly and encouraging too.

The gym is small and intimate, the trainers seem to know what they're doing.

Highly recommend !

This center is poorly managed. The trainers spend more time talking that training. The sessions are short and not motivating. The gym is crowded and they don't have a wide variety of equipment. I was very disappointed. I bought a package of sessions and had a hard time getting through them. Go to 24 hr. Fitness in Glendale -- the equipment is better maintained, has a wider variety and the staff keeps you motivated.

Pros: in Studio City

Cons: trainers, equipment -- lack of variety

Frankly I wasn't expecting much in the way of customer service but as the reviewer previous stated, I seemed to drop in importance by my 2nd or 3rd appointment.

I was only expecting "average" customer service... boy was I surprised when what I consider "average" was their best day. I don't think they are malicious or ignorent, in fact they seem nice and decently knowledgable. However, they have a very sloppy approach to just about everything. The trainers/therapists often wonder off to socialize or check email rathar than pay attention to their clients. More than once I've had to go find my therapist after standing around for several minutes feeling stupid. Also, they forget the exercises that have been done or tell you that you've been doing something wrong on the last rep of the last set. Like the trainers/therapists, the front desk personnel are nice but seem to forget to enter appointments into the computer and, when called well in advance, forget to delete cancelled appointments. Not the end of the world but after the third or fourth time it gets really annoying.

Honestly, I think it's lack of direction from the management. They seem to foster a "Hey Bro! What's up?" environment and it shows in everything they do. If that works for you, this is the place for you. It's definitely not for me...

Synergy Performance looks like a great place -- it is intimate, clean and close to the studios. Be wary, multiple people have had issues with trainer swapping. When you go for your first few sessions, the manager trains you. Once you buy, he turns you over to someone else, who may easily turn you over to someone else. I purchased a chunk of sessions because I wanted to train with the first person I met there, and in less than three months I had been passed off to two other trainers who would cancel sessions and wouldn't return my calls. I have trained with trainers at a lot of gyms and this is far and away the worst experience I have ever had. The "session" only lasts .5 hr vs. 1 hr at most gyms. This was not pointed out upfront. The trainer hand off happened so rapidly, there was not relationship developed -- 3 trainers in about 3 months. I worked out with the last trainer one time and didn't get any return phone calls. I thought she had left the gym and called to find out she was on vacation. I've since tried to get my money back for the sessions purchased, but since your sessions expire 6 months after purchase, I am out about $4k.

Really, really unhappy. This place is very poorly run.

I live on the Westside and commute to Burbank for work everyday. For years I have been looking for a gym that doesn't overcrowd the place and has a great atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well, the wait is over! Synergy is the club for me. They have real trainers who really know the body and how it works. My trainer has helped me to lose 25 pounds AND I HAVE MORE ENERGY. I look as good as I did when I was in college (well almost anyway). I used to hate going to the gym and probably didn't go that much for this reason. Synergy has doctors, physical therapist, and as I said, real trainers on staff. They truly know what they are doing. Bravo!

Pros: Knowledgeable Staff and Programs that Work

Cons: There isn't one close to my house yet
