.

This is my first review here, but I feel it is rather important to have this made public.
I brought my six year old son to St. Claire's on Pocono Rd in Denville on Monday (5/19/08) afternoon (our normal pediatrician was on vacation for the week) after he had been complaining of a rather sever earache. The doctor on staff checked only his ear (normal protocol would be to check ear, nose, AND throat) and determined that there was no ear infection and that he must have scratched his ear somehow. He prescribed ear drops and told us he'd be fine in a few days. My husband dragged me to the hospital in the middle of night Tuesday into Wednesday with a 103 fever and an earache, and it turned out it was strep throat. Now on Thursday (5/22/08), his ear has only gotten worse and has kept him up at night crying in pain; I have been trying desperately to keep my distance for fear of making him sicker but comfort him all the same. We bring him back Thursday and I had to TELL them to check his throat, only then did they test him strep. Which he, of course, has and that is how I got it.
I would not be so upset if not for the fact that they never checked his throat! So we've been giving him ear drops to make the pain in his ear go away, when what the poor kid needed was antibiotics! Thank God I caught it from him or he might have ended up with Rheumatic Fever for the lack of training this one physician clearly received!
