During a cleaning, the dentist dropped an instrument on the ground. He then picked up the instrument with his gloves; the gloves had touched the ground and were now contaminated. He did NOT change his gloves. Next, he used his gloves to remove the plastic packaging from the instrument (thus contaminating it) and placed the contaminated instrument in my mouth. Furthermore, he continued to use the contaminated gloves to touch my teeth and gums.

I complained, but he brushed off my concerns. He told me that because the instrument had been covered in plastic, I had nothing to worry about. He ignored the fact that when he used his contaminated gloves to remove the instrument packaging, the instrument became contaminated.

As my gums were bleeding (because of the cleaning), there was a route for the germs on the floor to enter my bloodstream directly. The dentist placed me at risk of infection because he chose not to spend a few seconds to change gloves and get another clean instrument. These shortcuts threatened my health. Dentistry and shortcuts simply do not mix.

Additionally, although I had requested an appointment for 9 AM (the earliest possible time) on a Wednesday (a day which is not busy), I still had to wait 45 minutes before the dentist saw me.
