I have encountered several problems with this practice. Most recently I was disputing a bill with my insurance company and needed to get a copy of my prescription. They outright lied to me saying that they could not provide it because it had expired and I needed a new exam. Once the bill was sorted out (2 months later) I was able to get the prescription and the expiration was for the following year (12 months out)..
A lot of the reviews have mentioned extensive exams. I have found that this is the case even when it was not necessary. In my opinion they are simply padding their fees.
They will also perform exams that they know are not covered by insurance. In several instances I had to follow up with them to have them resubmit the claim with corrected codes, which I had to research and inform them. The next time they did the same thing yet again.
Overall I would suggest that you look into some other practice.

Finding an educated, competent, caring medical professional is the hardest task a person will encounter (especially when it involves the well being of a person). Once you find that professional, not only do you entrust your life to that person, but you feel a great deal of satisfaction and care free attitude in your life knowing should a problem arise, you immediately know where to turn.

Dr. Jung is the type of medical professional which I referenced above. He is competently thorough in his examinations, and takes the time to answer any questions and uncertainties you may have. To leave an appointment feeling refreshed and satisfied should be enough reason to make an appointment with Dr. Jung.

Not only is Dr. Jung extraordinary, his staff is very cordial and seem to know all their patients by name. If the doctor is running a couple of minutes behind, the staff gives updates because they are cognizant enough to know your time is worth something. They know that the key to a successful business is customer service. To be part of a practice not only with professional doctors, but staff as well is a rare combination.

Dr. Jung, on his own volition, was curteous enough to give me tips in keeping my vision in tip top shape. I was concerned with a bump in my eyelid which he took care of during my visit and even followed up with a call because he knew how distressed I was during my visit. He made me feel like family member, and for that reason alone I will be faithful to him as a patient.

I also love the fact that the office utilizes advanced technological equipment, which shows me, that they spare no costs to their patients. I have been to facilities where they use archaic technology, and even had to walk out of a doctor's office enough because I could not trust their competency.

I would recommend Dr. Jung foremost and Metropolotan Vision Correction Associates if you need a great optometrist, and want exceptional service. You definitely won't be sorry.

Pros: Great Doctor, Great Customer Service and Facility

Cons: There are absolutely None!

I was a patient with Metropolitan Vision Correction for the last three years and was content with my eye doctor. She explained examinations and issues with eyes. Dr. was very friendly and professional. My biggest issue was that I've just found out that my doctor was no longer an "in network provider'' with my coverage. The receptionist never mentioned that they were not an "in network provider with Eyemed. For the last 1 1/2 yrs. I was paying fees that I was told included my coverage discounts. Claim forms I was told was not needed because they would bill my Insurance coverage for the difference. After calling Eyemed for ques. about my benefits coverage I was made aware that no claims have been made by Metropolitan Vision Correction since 2008!!. My last 4 visits which equaled fees way over $1000 were paid out of my pockets and no claim was ever filed. I am very disppointed and I suggest that anyone using their insurance checkup that claims are being reported. You may end up like me believing that all these so called % discounts taken off are just a bunch of bologna!!
BTW...had to mention that I wanted to order my contacts online to save some money and the staff refused to verify any information of prescriptions with online representatives, whose procedure is to verify prescriptions with Dr.

Pros: Thorough eye examination

Cons: misleading info on coverage, long wait 4 glasses/contacts

I have been seeing Dr.Jung for several years now and have had only the best service. I have never had to wait for my appointment and have only been treated with extra special care. It is nice to actually have a doctor that will listen to you and take the extra 5 minutes to actaully talk to you. I highly recommend Dr. Jung to anyone who appreciates great service from their doctor.

Facility is very accessible near Union Square. Dr. Arthur Jung is a wonderful eye doctor (the best optometrist)...great listener, performs very thorough examination and takes the time to explain the findings with the available options for treatment/solutions. I will be going here for the rest of my life!

This is an incredible office and I'll tell you why. Its convenient, the doctors are educated and I love the fact that they have the latest equipment to make sure they get the most accurate results. I've had excellent experience with Dr. Jung. He is always professional and also is great about explaining what is going on with my eye in terms that a normal person would understand. Unlike my PCP who is constantly spewing medical terms I can't pronounce and rushing me out before I can ask all my questions. And if you need eyeglasses, just ask Sabrina. Yes the office is busy, but your eyes are worth it.

I've been to many eye doctors and Dr Jung is the best there is.
Not too many doctors these days are friendly, caring, through with diagnosis, and on time with appointments. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to wait longer than 15 minutes for an appointment, and I have never had to wait this long or at all for that matter. My doctor may look young but age for me is not a factor on how well they can do their job. He is better than some of the old doctors I used to go to.
I always felt relaxed and comfortable. Never felt rushed so he can see his next client. I felt that he gave me the time and patience to hear out my problems and fixed them. He is a doctor that genuinely loves to help people. I'm glad I found a doctor who is great at what he does and is also nice.

I left this review on YELP first.

The Doctors, service and staff here are all great. Check in was very easy, the front desk already had my vision and medical insurance checked before I got there. And YES I agree you need your medical insurance because unlike other places I have gone, this place will take there time to carefully check your eyes for eye problems, not just glasses. They have the greatest instruments, most I have never seen before. Dr. Jung found that my eye pressure was high and my optic nerves looked a little suspicious for glaucoma. He did a nerve test that showed it was normal and found that my pressure was high because my cornea was thick. It was explained very clearly and I was so relieved. I spent over an hour in the office, there was a wait but not unreasonable, I never felt rushed, and I got perfect glasses.

Negatives: The wait can be long, there are a lot of patients there, it's always full. But that might be saying a lot for this place, they seem to be in high demand!

I highly recommend this place, the wait is worth it! you only get your eyes checked once a year, what's one or two hours of your time. I've been to many eye doctors and this one is by far the best experience.

I am still waiting on an order I placed over a month ago and I haven't been given an honest answer as to when my glasses will arrive. I'm incredibly frustrated with the service and no one has mentioned anything about a discount. I won't be returning here again.

This office literally saved me - through the lengthy examinations and tests that some complain about, a life-threatening and sight-threatening brain condition was discovered which was overlooked by other doctors. Years later, Dr Nevins also discovered the beginning of a detached retina in my husband's eye. This kind of thoroughness cannot be overstated!

I have been seeing Dr. Nevins and his colleagues for 28 years. No, that is not a misprint. I have always received excellent care. My only complaint is the one other reviewers have commented on, namely long waiting times on occasion. In my experience, this is the rare exception rather than the rule. For example, I saw Dr. Jung on August 14, 2008, and even though I was late for my appointment, he saw me right away. He gave me a thorough exam and explained the results to me carefully. I've had the same experience of receiving great care from Drs. Goldstein and Behan, and I always receive high quality care from Dr. Nevins, the optometrist I've known for the longest time. Everyone in the office is pleasant and helpful and the fees are very reasonable.

I used to find the service here tolerable. Yes the doctors are young, yes I usually ended up waiting long beyond my appointment time to get service, but in the end I always got satisfactory results. Now the service is so poor that I'm forced to go find a new optometrist. And the funny part is: I've tried going back here! Tried three times now to get another appointment here! And every time I call for an appointment they put me on hold and never return! All they had to do to keep me as a customer is answer my calls!!! So I'll be going elsewhere from now on.

I started going here after my optometrist retired and her practice was bought by something called "Laser One" which sounds to me like a race car team team, not a professional office. I've been happy with the two young doctors I've seen there for very particular reasons: I wear a soft contact lens on a cornea I've had transplanted, and a rigid lens in the other eye. My eyesight changes a bit daily, and fitting me for lenses is a real challenge because of my condition, and getting it wrong can leave me in a great deal of discomfort and sometimes pain. A young doctor at Metro spent many hours with me even on the first visit, getting it right, and called in Dr. Nevins to consult when needed. As every other health care practicioner I deal with is given less and less time with any one patient, answer questions, and proceed with caution, the doctors at Metro are somehow given a freer hand. I do agree, however, that they do initially slam you with tests (but I think this is the case everywhere).

I recently had an eye exam with Dr. Jung. I was the first patient of the day, so I didn't experience any of the delays that other reviews have referenced. I actually LOVE the fact that they put your eyes through so many tests. People take their eyes for granted and forget that eye doctors can and SHOULD do more than just test your vision alone. Dr. Jung actually found a problem with my eye that I didn't previously know about. I would definitely recommend him. The rest of the staff members who I interacted with were also helpful. I was placed into contacts, and had no problems. My husband also goes to this practice and purchases new glasses and contacts through them last year and experienced no problems. Overall, I'd say 2 or 3 hours with your eye doctor once a year is time well spent!

My entire family has been seeing Dr. Nevins for many years. This year, we are all considering a change. For one thing, it is impossible to see him. Even after being told that my apointment was with him as I requested, they had another dr. see me. He was very nice, and I think good, even though he seemed very very young. Upon my request, he seemed to help me get out of there in about 2 hours instead of 3 like the last time... so in a situation like that, I appreciated his kindness. The real problem for me, besides this HUGE problem of LOTS of waiting around, is that the store they work with is a real disaster. They broke my $400 glasses and were so rude about it. I am still wondering if it is even legal to to that. I am looking for a better place to go now.

After spending 15 minutes in eye exams elsewhere in the past, I was amazed by how thorough the doctors were with my eyes and vision! I was also there about 2 hours, but very little of the time was spent waiting. The machinery they had was unlike any other I had used before.

The staff was helpful in verifying my insurance coverage and worked with me to get everything straight before I saw the doctor.

The doctors do look young, but were very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions.

They put me into high oxygen contact lenses. Something my previous doctors never even brought up!

Overall, I am extremely happy with the eyecare I received.
I will be referring them to all my friends and family.

I've been seeing Dr Nevins for over 10 years but there's been a big change in the last 3 years or so. Dr Nevins was great. Basically Dr Nevins is never there and the "doctors" are all very young and not all that experienced. There's another change too. They are making you take lots of eye tests with machines that you sit in front of and they never used to do that. Of course, they are billing your insurance for all of these pointless tests. The "technician" working these machines is basically a secretary. Not particularly professional. The annoying thing there is that you end up being at the office for 2-3 hours because you have to line up to use these testing machines. Its all a bit ridiculous. I just want a good manual eye exam with an actual eye doctor please. The quality of service went quite down. After 10 years I'm looking for a new eye dorctor.

... because many doctors out there are "working the system(s)." I fear that this office is yet another dreaded case. First, make sure if you've come to see an OPTHAMOLOGIST via your HEALTH insurance - you actually see an OPTHAMOLOGIST. 4 Optometrists work here, yet they may bill your HEALTH insurance as if you've seen the OPTHAMOLOGIST. Optometrists work with/bill your VSP plan. Second, make sure they aren't charging you a HEALTHCARE co-pay for a routine "eyecare" visit that gets billed on their end to VSP. Get my drift? Something sound shady? Too many doctors (especially in NYC) are pulling this.

I had a thorough eye exam by a pleasant doctor. My complaints are: I was kept waiting and spent over two hours there. Second, the receptionist said they accepted my insurance for the exam AND glasses. After a 2-hour exam, I chose glasses; then they said they did not accept insurance for glasses. When I paid, they said I had to pay extra, since not all of the exam was actually covered. Third, they said the glasses would be ready in 2-3 business days. They weren't ready until OVER a week later, and they didn't tell me they were ready until 15 minutes before closing for the weekend. To add to all that, when they called to say the glasses were ready, they said that I have to make an appt to pick them up! I am NOT satisfied with this place, and will not go back next year.

i HAVE BEEN TO THIS OFFICE FOR MANY YEARS NOT SO MUCH FOR THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THE DOCTORS LEAVE YOU WAITING IN THE WAITING AREA, WITHOUT CARING ABOUT YOUR OWN PERSONAL TIME BUT FOR THE CARE THAT i RECEIVED FROM SUCH A PLEASANT STAFF. THE OPTICIAN FOR YEARS WAS EXCEPTIONAL AND HIGLY RECOMMENDED-SADLY NO LONGER THERE. HIT OR MISS SINCE THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF TURN OVER FROM THE OLD STAFF AS OF LATE.
