Do not go to Embassy Dental--it is a rip off. I went in for consult on a cracked front tooth, and they proceeded to try to get me to get 8 crowns. I told them I could do one at a time and wanted to get the one done I came in for. I was told it would be a total of $1600 or so total, $493 for the deductible when I get this one done. I had to delay the appointment for over a month due to schedule conflicts, but when I finally got in and had it done, I was charged $804 upfront, and then told it was $493 for a different tooth. I am not a rich person, and while it doesn't totally bankrupt me, I will finish getting this one in and never go there again. Buyer, beware! They are con artists, they don't give receipts, and from what I've read now, I have become their latest victim.

Cons: Pulling the Old Switcheroo

The atmosphere at the Brentwood location is very unprofessional. Doctor and staff discuss treatment plans, appointment schedules, etc. out loud where patients can hear everything that is being discussed. Poor facilities, dirty, weird floor plan once outside the reception area, no privacy during treatment, junk laying around everywhere--complete mess.

Extra charges are tagged on for unnecessary treatments. To tell me that I need to replace my metal fillings with more "aesthetic-looking" crowns with an out-of-pocket cost of at least $7,000 seems very greedy. And to start that conversation with ?you?re still young, wouldn?t you want to have beautiful teeth?? just affirms that the treatment plan is NOT necessary, but merely COSMETIC. However, after the dentist sensed me catching on, he changed his pitch to ?this is a time bomb waiting to go off, we should get this done asap??

I went for a total of two visits?the consultation and the cleaning. The mandatory consultation before the cleaning is a waste of time. The cleaning was not nearly as thorough as cleanings I have had done in the past. No floss, no fluoride rinse, etc. And of course, they want me to come back for another cleaning in 3 months rather than the standard six months (as covered by insurance)?again, greedy... I know my teeth are in good condition. I got them cleaned religiously twice a year in Ohio before moving here recently. If this dentist had done a proper cleaning, it would NOT be necessary for me to come back again in 3 months.

Of course, I have no intention of going back. I paid $75 for an un-thorough cleaning which was covered by insurance and should have cost me $0 out of pocket. However, they managed to throw in some ?special gum medicine? into the cleaning which resulted in the $75 charge.

Bottom line, the dentist?s focus seems to be foremost on money--not patients!

I have been in the Hillsboro village office and was not happy with the service. They have never able to convey that confidence that I needed. I agree 100 % with both of the other negative reviews. 1. They called me twice in the past two years to reschedule my appointment with the hygenist and it was very difficult to reschedule my appointment. They schedule appointments 6 months in advance and would not even call to remind you and would ask you for $25 if you don't show up for an appointment. 2. Get a second opinion. Last time I went for cleaning, my hygenist (Lisa) told me that my gums are in terrible situation (I had a couple of 5s) and that the only way to treat these 5s was to have antibiotic treatment. When asked to explain different possibilities, she was not very good at explaining and was just trying to get rid of me. Well, she did get rid of me forever. After refusing their treatment plan she referred me to a gum specialist and tried to convince me by saying that going to a gum specialist would cost me much more. The specialist, confirmed the 5s but had a completely different treatment plan that does not involve antibiotics. The specialist told me that they will do scaling and that should help.

Another thing I realized was the turnover of the employees at Embassy dental. I hardly see the same people when I go there every 6 months. I have seen so many hygenists and dentists that I can not keep track of. How can you retain patients if you can not retain your employees?

Needless to say that I am never going back to Embassy Dental.

Cons: fast employee turnover, not professional

I never understood why people hated going to the dentist?until my visit to Embassy Dental in Brentwood. I went in for a regular check-up and cleaning. However, they require you to schedule 2 appointments?the 1st one for a general exam, the 2nd for the cleaning and any other work. As a mother of an infant, this was a little inconvenient, but luckily I have friends who can watch my child.

For the sake of keeping this somewhat succinct, I won?t explain everything that happened. The dentist, Dr. Van, was extremely patronizing and rude, and when I confronted him with this, he used the word ?militant? to describe his way of approaching me and my ?home care.? You would have thought I was 12 years old and hadn?t seen a dentist in five years. However, I am a 27 year old grown woman who, due to pregnancy, bed rest, and getting used to raising an infant, had not been to a dentist in a year and a half. In the past, I went every 6 months, but I still don?t think a year and a half is THAT awful. I have definitely heard of worse.

He told me that while I had no cavities, my gums were in bad shape. He explained everything fine, however in my opinion, there are ways to describe issues without being rude and patronizing. (However I did find it odd that if my gums were THIS bad, why I hadn?t I had any problems with them?) They brought out my proposed plan--$800 (with insurance!) and 2 extra visits?no thank-you. When I got home, I made an appointment with another dentist who was recommended to me. He was not on my insurance plan, however I didn?t mind paying out of pocket for someone who was polite (and come to find out later, honest.) I am grateful that I did. The new dentist did not find anything wrong--I had even brought a copy of my chart from Embassy for them to check. I am sure there are great dentists there, however Dr. Van Benthuysen is not one of them. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that was my experience. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back.

I've been to the Hillsboro Village office of the Embassy Dental group for several years. While their service is usual acceptable, I have recently become very unhappy with them. They book cleaning appointments six months in advance. I received a phone call a week or two before my cleaning appointment informing me it was canceled because the hygienist would be on vacation. They said they would put me on the "waiting list" for a new appointment. A month later I was told I could make an appointment for a cleaning appointment in six months. rude. rude. rude. Find another dental group that wants your business.
