I had my first visit at this practice(Bridgemill Eyecare) late Sept 2011. The Dr was very thorough (in fact, I had never had such a thorough exam--I was very impressed) he even noticed that I had seasonal allergies b/c I had small bumps inside my lower eyelid, but I advised him that my eyes were never itchy or affected by the allergies; however, the eyeglass lady was a little pushy when it came time for me to select glasses. The markup on the glasses was EXTREME. I had started to contemplate just getting my prescription and going to Costco, when the eyeglass lady opened up some other drawers of more reasonably priced glasses. I did end up purchasing them there (since my old glasses were literally broken). Due to the fact that this was such a thorough exam, I felt that it would be a good place to take my oldest daughter to have her 1st eye exam. (BTW, my appt was at 3:20 and I didn't leave until 5:30!!!) So, I'm out the door w/ paying for my $10 vision fee plus the small overage from the purchase of my glasses--satisfied customer.
Fast forward a week later, my daughter has her appt. Again, very thorough and friendly staff. She didn't need glasses, but the same Dr noticed that she had small bumps inside her lower lid and commented that it looked like she had allergies. I advised that she has seasonal allergies, but doesn't even take anything for it anymore (it had been about 2 yrs since she took Singulair); the Dr eventually hands me a prescription for eye drops, "just in case she ever needs it." Ahh, that was a nice gesture. I go to checkout and the front desk lady tells me my total is $40. WHAT?!?! I said my vision copay is $10. She said, that since the Dr HANDED ME A PRESCRIPTION that now it falls under the medical insurance as a "SPECIALIST" Copay. Are you kidding me? I asked her if I could give it back or rip it up, since we came in FOR A VISION ONLY EXAM. It's not as if my daughter needed a visit for itchy eyes as a result of allergies. I have never felt so DECEIVED and MISLEAD.
I feel that since the Dr knew that my daughter didn't need glasses, he "upcharged" the diagnosis so that they could get a higher amount vs the traditional vision copay. I was a satisfied customer after my visit, but I'm a completely unhappy customer after my daughter's visit. We WILL NOT be returning to this practice--looks like I need to find another eye dr (thank goodness I got my eyeglass presciption after my 1st visit!!).
Just watch their billing practices--

I visited Bridgemill Eyecare and was pleased with the service I recieved. The doctor was excellent and really knew what she was talking about. She explained everything to me and made sure I was satisfied before sending me away.
I have also vsited Furey eyecare and was not at all impressed. The staff was rude and the doctor really did not explain much. It seemed he wanted me in and out as quickly as possible.
I will visit Bridge but will never go back to the Roswell location

I went in because they were on my insurance plan. I liked the facility/building. I also really liked the staff. The exam was VERY thorough. I got new glasses and contacts. I relaly like both of them!

My daughter had some kind of vision problem that they worked with and helped by getting her some glasses. Everything I bought there was at a reasonable price.

I will return and have my whole family go there.

I couldn't see, so I made an appointment. I went in to find out that I had problems with my vision. It wasn't that I just needed new contacts, I actually had something wrong!

Dr. Furey found that I had vision missing and I later found out I had a tumor!!!! After that, I went and had a specialist remove the tumor and it's all better now!!!!!!

I will ONLY go to this office for my eyes.

The receptionists seem very cold, they made no small talk at all.

In addition I feel I was the target of insurance discrimination. I was made to wait almost an hour, despite arriving on time, and my scheduled full exam suddenly changed into a shorter "office visit" once they found out I had no insurance. Was told that they "didn't have the diagnostic tools to help me" and that if I wanted anything further they could "recommend me to someone else."

Maybe the best eye doctor in Roswell. I have gotten glasses and contacts from Dr. Furey for many years now and I highly recommend him. Cares about the total welfare of his patients.

The Dr visit was great but the reception seemed quite put out that I only brought cash to pay for my appointment. When she couldn't break hundreds she was even more frustrated that she had to fetch cash from the bank. A bill was sent surrounding my co-pay which was taken care of immediatly. Soon after it was time to order my contacts and the receptionist would not give me a strait answer about how much I owed on my account. When I was frustrated to the point of taking my business elsewhere, I asked for my prescrition to which she told me that I must pay them 50 dollars to release that information. I said just forget it and thanks and she hung up on me. I will not be taking my business there again which is a shame b/c I really liked the Dr and the staff but don't have time to deal with people who don't know how to be professional. The folks that referred me had mentioned that they have had administrative issues there as well, but after I have told a few people about this incident we are all going somewhere else.

So I am updating this review as I just got off the phone with another Dr and they are showing that Dr. Furey's practice is holding all the money for my benefits. I have yet to take delivery on contacts or glasses and Dr. Furey office has filed under my insurance so they can get money for a product they have not delivered or even ordered on my behalf. Looks like they are now avoiding my phone calls. Happy Thanksgiving to me.

Pros: Good Eye Dr

Cons: Reception

This practice was not willing to go above and beyond to help me out when I was in a bind needing 1 replacement contact because it was damaged. Instead the office manager just told me what I should have been doing and that I should have had a backup pair or backup glasses. I would not recommend this practice to anyone and would highly discourage anyone. DO NOT GO TO BRIDGEMILL EYECARE.

Today I had my firt visit to Bridgemill Eye Care and was very pleased with the whole experience. My optometrist was very friendly and professional as was the staff. I received my prescription with no hassle nor was I hounded to purchase eyeglasses from them. I read these reviews before I went today and presented this information after I had received services and found out that some of the staff had been replaced. If you had a bad experience with this company before, give it another shot- I was pleasantly suprised with the quality of service and atmosphere.

The new office is beautiful! It was very warm and inviting, unlike all those chain stores. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially with my insurance. The doctor was very through and explained everything. They have all the technology, even more then I have ever seen before. Over all they were terrific! I highly recommend them!

I can't imagine the other comments. I have been to both locations (Bridgemill and Holcomb Bridge Rd) and they could not have been more helpful or friendly.

Very rude staff. Actually charged us $25 to teach my son how to put in his contacts. I have never heard of such a thing. They would not release the Rx to us so we could find more competitively priced contacts. We will never recommend this practice to anyone.

The bottom line is the eye exam was thorough, they did not disclose that they were charging our medical insurance nor that this was anything more than a standard eye exam, and sent us away with no Rx for glasses which I know that I need. I am not blind by any means but need glasses for an astigmatism, which causes my headaches. The secretary was also very unfriendly and we felt very uncomfortable in the waiting room.
My wife and I decided to use a local non chain facility for our yearly checkup. This eyecare provider was listed by our vision service plan as participating so I called to make an appointment. They informed me of the benefits of our service plan so I made the appointment. We filled out questionares about our health history, a fairly standard thing these days, and started our eye exams. The exams were very thorough, not the usual look at the eye chart and here is your prescription. I commented to the Dr that I was impressed at the thoroughness, not what you get at most chain eye care.
As I left the exam and went to check out at the desk the secretary informs me that the charge was three times what we had discussed on the phone when I made the appointments, the reason was because they were submitting it to my medical insurer and not the vision plan. Her explanation was because I had marked on the health history that I have had headaches, the Dr did more tests based on the information I provided. I then asked if I could have the prescriptions and was told the Dr did not think they were needed because the Rx's were not very strong. At this point I am pretty upset and decided to leave and speak with my wife to see what she had discussed with this office.

On the plus side they have lots of designer glasses which I wanted to purchase, however I will try another eyecare Dr, hopefully with better results.

Cons: No disclosure of medical procedures or charges, unfriendly office staff, no Rx given

The staff was very rude, particularly one member, and degrading, which made the entire experience terrible. They do not have the customers interest in mind. They only want to make a profit. They are not customer friendly. I would not refer this clinic to anyone.
