In 07/2010, I visited DDS Gail Belvett to get a simple filling done. The tooth she filled was done incorrectly. I had to get this tooth extracted because she drilled to close to the nerve. I reported her to the N.C. Dental Examiners. She refunded my cost for the extraction and my cost for her fee(s). However she was not made to pay for an implant I had to get to replace the missing tooth. This cost me $5,000.00. Needless to say I wasn't her only victim. There have been other unfortunate patients who have suffered similar fates. Patronize this dentist at your own risk.

I went to see this dentist for routine care and required some fillings. After one routine filling I had severe intense pain that lasted several days. I was brought back in and the filling was redone, but the bond with the next tooth was apparently not tight enough (this was a back molar). In less than a year I had decay underneath the filling that has now required a root canal--I suspect due to the technique of the original procedure.

Went to this dentist for a routine filling. Experienced intense pain afterwards. Went two additional times to get problem solved with no results. intense pain landed me in the an Oral Surgeon's office. Dr. Belvett drilled too close to the nerve of my tooth. I had this tooth extracted at my own expense. Please do not go to this dentist. You have been warned!

I have an intense fear of dentists and only made the appointment to see Dr. Belvett because it was urgent and she was covered by my insurance. I was pleased when I met her that she explained the next steps in a calm and gentle manner. I left the office less nervous and knowing that she will be my dentist as long as I'm in the area.

I had a friend who had an appointment at the office and from start to finish, she said the staff from the front desk, to the hygienist, to the assistants were great. What wasn't so great was the amount of times she had to go back to have a filling redone or checked, or grinded down so she could bite evenly. Now being no stranger to having dental work done I feel like I fully know what to expect especially after getting worked on. Never in my years of dental experience have I known anyone who had to go back multiple times to have the same tooth worked on! She said the work seemed to be rushed through and that she was in and out in no time, which seemed great at first, but the amount of times she had to go back wasn't worth it. The work was redone at no cost to her, but it did cost her her time. She won't be going back there and I definitely wouldn't want any of my friends or family to have similar experiences. (Oh, and if you were wondering, she didn't want to publish anything about her experience but I felt like her story needed to be shared so others could make better informed decisions.)

Pros: great and friendly staff

Cons: quality of work is poor

We love Southpoint Family Dentistry! I haven't experienced better patient care. Included in my routine examination was a mouth cancer check and dental floss instruction that actually taught me something new. When I had a filling replaced, Dr. Belvett and her assistant did a terrific job. Not only did I have no pain and minimal discomfort, but I did not suffer any residual soreness when the anesthetic wore off.

Dr. Belvett's warm and friendly staff takes care of you from the second you check in until you check out. Dr. Belvett even called me the day after my filling replacement to make sure my mouth was ok!

I will say that this office doesn't sport all of the latest equipment. However, we didn't miss it and based on the quality of care are selecting this office as our permanent dental home. (A previously used dental office that did have the newest equipment received a very poor review from me, so you can take this feedback from someone who isn't gushy.)

Pros: Quality care, warm and friendly staff, easy location, good parking

Cons: Equipment isn't cutting edge, but isn't antiquated either
