I was a member of the Eye Care practice forever, until they did me dirty. I went in for a normal eye check and get contacts. Well not once did they ever tell me that I had to pay for an $85.00 dollar class, until I was ready to get my prescription. Then there was no way that they would even give me my prescription until I paid for the $85.00 dollar class. I firmly stated that all I wanted was my contact prescription I did not want their class or their contacts. They told me that they would not give my contact prescription until I gave them the $85.00. Then they would not give me my records or eye measurements so I could go some place else. Sounds like they are out for the money NOT the care for the patients. What a sad state the office has come to. I won't be back ever. In Fact because of this problem no one in my family will be back to see them.

Business Response:

Explanation.....one more time A contact lens fitting is different than a basic eye examination. We charge $85 for a contact lens fitting, in addition to a basic eye examination. A contact lens fitting includes: 1) Selection and supply of a trial contact lens 2) Instruction in inserting and removal of lenses (the "class") 3) Follow-up visits (unlimited) to determine proper fit 4) Change of trial lens if first trial unsuccessful Once it is determined that contact lenses can be safely worn and the proper lens is being used (approximately ten days to two weeks of trial wear), then, and only then, can a contact lens prescription be released to the patient(or we supply the contacts, patient's choice). This process is what the $85 fee encompasses. Until we go through this fitting process, a contact lens presription cannot be produced. A spectacle prescription was released from data created by the basic examination. A contact lens prescription was not provided because we DID NOT DO A CONTACT LENS FITTING. Previous exam records were faxed to all family members. Because we were accused of cheating her, we advised the family to find another eyecare provider and released them from our practice.
