Given the poor state of the economy, I did not want to spend too much money on oral surgery. Unfortunately, since the economy is hurting the oral surgery business too, most oral surgeons want to make the most money off each customer that they can. Do you see the problem? The worst part is that, since I don??t really know anything about oral surgery, I wouldn??t have a clue if the oral surgeon were lying to me and telling me I needed expensive procedures that I didn??t really need.

That??s why you need an honest doctor! And in the field of oral surgery, there is none more honest than Dr. Gass.

I never write reviews online, but this is a very special case. Dr. Gass is the most honest, ethically-driven doctor I??ve ever had the good fortune of meeting (and I??ve heard quite a few stories about lousy, dishonest ones here in the Phoenix area, so you need to be careful!). With Dr. Gass, you never need to worry that you are being cheated or overcharged. How can I tell? He kept telling me ways that I could save money! If a doctor keeps suggesting ways for you to pay him less money, you know that he values your well-being over his own profit.

His concern for me was obvious in the surgery too. I was nervous at first about getting my wisdom teeth out, because all of my co-workers were telling me how terrible it was. They said that I would be out for weeks. Dr. Gass assured me there was nothing to worry about. And he was right! I went back to work the very next day, fully recovered. My co-workers were shocked. That kind of recovery, they said, is virtually unheard of. That??s how talented this man is at oral surgery. He really knows what he is doing.

Good doctors are uncommon. Excellent doctors are a rarity. Dr. Gass is one of those excellent doctor and I count myself very fortunate to have found him.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Gass. I had my two bottom wisdom teeth extracted a few weeks ago, and the experience was far different than I imagined it would be. First, I couldn't believe how quick the surgery was. The best part, however, was that I had NO PAIN!!! I kept waiting for the pain to set in...it never came.

I prepared everything ahead, expecting I would be unable to do anything for two days. This was not the case. I did take it easy and nap some, but the medication didn't knock me out. I am usually very sensitive to medication, but it didn't bother me. I didn??t even take much of the hydrocodone he prescribed - I didn't need much. I don't know how he did it, but I had NO SWELLING either.

My dear husband took the day off work to take care of me. He has had many, many teeth extracted and his experiences have been terrible nightmares. I really think he was amazed to see how well I did. He said, "Where was Dr Gass when I needed him?"

Thank you also for calling that first night to check up on me and writing a follow up letter. Doctors don't seem to do those things any more. I would highly recommend Dr Gass for oral surgery.

I was actually pretty terrified to get my wisdom teeth pulled and even tried to avoid it for a few years. I have had many friends who have had bad experiences in having their wisdom teeth taken out. I had a couple friends who were in pain for weeks and others who were bruised and miserable for a good few days. Turns out, I only had to have the bottom two removed but it didn't help my fear in knowing that they were impacted. Dr. Gass took great care in reassuring me that the process would be quick and the recovery less painful than I was expecting. Nevertheless, I was still pretty anxious up until the day of the surgery to the point of tears. However, his wonderful staff took a few extra moments to smile and chat with me to help alleviate some nervousness. Dr. Gass was also quick in noticing my nerves and did what he could to make me smile and relax. To be honest, despite how nervous I was, I don't remember much of what happened; it all went by so fast. After receiving the IV, I remember Dr. Gass saying to me, "the hardest part is over" and the next thing I knew, I was awake in the recovery room and it was all over! I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was. As expected, I was a little uncomfortable the first few days, but it was all bearable. It also touched me that Dr. Gass took the time to call me personally the next day to make sure I was recovering well and to ask if there was anything I needed. There is no doubt that Dr. Gass is a capable, honest, and experienced oral surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend him to any individual in need of oral surgery :o).

After experiencing discomfort with one of my teeth I was informed that I needed to have a tooth pulled. As with most people I had a number of questions about my procedure and what my future options would be after it was finished. I had expected such questions to be addressed by Dr. Donald Gass. However, Dr. Gass spent little to no time interacting with me. In the little time that was spent with me he was extremely rude and short. He presented me with a consent form and stated that ??this should be really quick.? After Dr. Gass stepped out I was then asked by the receptionist if I had any additional questions. I stated that Dr. Gass did not answer any of my questions and I wanted to know what my options were. I stated that I wanted to know what would happen after the producer was finished. I had done some research prior to coming to my appointment and saw that if I wanted a tooth implanted in the future the dentist would need to fill the empty socket with bone material. But I was unsure as I am not a dentist. She stated that she would let Dr. Gass know. She later returned and told me that Dr. Gass ??just really needed to get the tooth out.? After asking her again about my options she had the audacity to state that I could just call the office later and they would be addressed then. I now regret not leaving after there was little effort to answer my legitimate concerns.

In addition to the above, during the procedure he was extremely aggressive while extracting the tooth. I am aware that force is needed but it seemed over the top, and generally Dr. Gass had poor bedside manner (not telling me what he was doing and so forth). Also, I have had a tooth pulled prior to my visit with Dr. Gass, by a different dentist, and it was a far more pleasant experience. I have since gone to another oral surgeon who stated that Dr. Gass should have filled the empty socket with born material for a future implant immediately after the tooth was pulled. Again Dr. Gass did not inform me of any of this prior, or during one subsequent visit (I had to go back as I had dry socket). As a result of all of the above, my current oral surgeon has to do work to fix Dr. Gass??s mistakes. After relaying my experience to several people I was told that Dr. Gass is known for having a poor reputation, and those that informed me of this currently work in the field. I would highly suggest that people avoid going to his office.

Four inpacted wisdom teeth. OUCH!! Dr. Gass is very caring and capable. My daughter was back to normal after 2 days. The office is very clean, calm and comfortable. Dr. Gass spent a great deal of time before the surgery explaining exactly what we should expect and making sure we were comfortable about what was going to happen. Wonderful!!

I have been in the office of Dr. Gass more times than I have wished for. With every visit I have always been more than satisfied. His staff politely greeted me every time I passed through the door. All my questions and concerns were answered by the staff or the doctor himself to my satisfaction before any work was done. I always felt the doctor was concerned with making sure I was comfortable with the procedure I needed. Every interaction (several) I have had with the doctor was pleasant and courteous. His quality performance as a surgeon exceeded my expectations. I felt like a paid a fair price for a surgeon that has 20+ years of experience. I never felt he was just there to do it for the money. I felt like he was there to make me healthy again and this made my choice of selecting Dr. Gass as my oral surgeon a no-brainer. He is an honest man doing a great job. You won??t be disappointed with this doctor or his staff.

I got 2 consultations with oral surgeons before I decided to go to Dr. Gass. What a breath of fresh air! Dr. Gass's staff was so helpful and put me at ease. I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled with general anesthia. The other surgeons' wanted to charge me almost double for the extractions and general anesthia! Dr. Gass's honest was a relief! He was not just out for the money but was honest and truly cared about me as a patient. He called that night to see how I was doing and made me feel like I was a priority. I can not say enough about my experience with Dr. Gass. I recommend him to everyone and will bring my children to him one day!

Nobody wants to get oral surgery, but when there is no other choice, a good surgeon can make the experience less severe. I have had a chain attached to an impacted tooth, as well as my four impacted wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Gass. I was given great care to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. In fact, I was given laughing gas and an IV just to make sure I was totally knocked out for my wisdom teeth procedure.

I would never want oral surgery again, but if I had to I would definitely go through Dr. Donald Gass again.

I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out a few days ago, and the whole experience with Dr Gass and his staff has been quick and wonderful. I was very nervous at first because I have had bad dental experiences in the past, but their office put me at ease. The reason I decided to go here is because he accepts Tricare, the military insurance, which was quite surprising for how nice his office is, usually tricare sends you to somebody cheap looking. I called to get a consultation, and they got me in to do the consultation and extraction the very next day. When i showed up, the staff got me back in less than 10 minutes, Dr Gass came in and looked at my x-rays and asked me if i wanted to go to sleep during the procedure, and I said sure! Most people make a big deal out of putting you to sleep, but he said that is what he usually does. I also wanted to go to him because I knew he gives a big variety of options for anesthetics. I just figured I would receive Versed through an IV, but he gave me a great combination of medications so that I was asleep throughout the procedure, and that made it so much better! He seemed a little in a hurry and not extremely explanatory or congenial when he did the consultation, but his staff was very friendly and explanatory, so that made up for it. They took me in the back after they determined the price, and the lady in the back was very sweet and friendly. They gave me an IV (and also numbed the site before the stick), and I don't remember anything after that. It seemed to be only about 10 minutes and I was being assisted into a lounge chair where I relaxed for about 10 minutes ,and then I was riding home. The whole experience was very wonderful for the circumstance, I am grateful for Dr Gass and his staff making this as smooth as possible. It has only been 30 hrs since my surgery and I feel pretty great. I received a good antibiotic and a pain killer and I will be going back to work tomorrow! Thanks a bunch!

Pros: Variety of anesthetics, friendly staff, pricing was ok

Cons: not very talkative, business hard to find because you have to walk through a courtyard
