I moved to this area about a year ago and was referred to Dr. Gates by my boss. Dr. Gates and his staff have went above and beyond my expectations! I am a chicken when it comes to going to the dentist, and I have never felt more at ease here! I have had cavities filled so far there and plan on doing more work in the future. From the moment you walk in, to when you leave you are treated with such compassion and care. Dr. Gates is so knowledgeable and really cares about his patients. His staff is absolutely wonderful and are so friendly. Sherri is my dental hygienist and she is fabulous! Pamela does a great job with helping me understand the financial side of it and is really friendly and patient with me. Overall, I would definitely recommend Mr.Gates' office to anyone that is searching for a great dental experience.

When I moved to Temple I asked a local from my church which dentists are good in the area. He said his sister was a dental hygienist, so she knew lots of dentists, and Dr. Gates' dental office was by far the best in the area.
Having gone to him a few times, I have to say that this is the best place I have ever gone to for dentistry. Dr. Gates and his staff are not just friendly, but they know what they are doing. Sherry is the Best dental hygienist I have ever had! She spent extra time with me, competently and accurately answering all my questions. The receptionists are also very kind and helpful. I put their kindness to the test when I had to reschedule the morning of the appointment, but they were still very kind and worked with me.
It takes a good dentist And staff for great dental care. This office has both.

I went to Dr. Gates with a mouth full of dental issues. Dr. Gates has worked with me and corrected several issues thusfar. We have a ways to go but he has spent his own time working on my file to find the best way to repair damage that was left to my teeth. He is doing the same for my husband now. He is the most understanding, compassionate dentist we have had. He is very detail oriented and cares for the quality of his work. His staff is excellent, most courteous and most professional at the same time. We do not hesitate to recommend anyone to meet with Dr. Gates for any dental problems. We cannot thank him enough for what he has done and continues to do for us.

I'm a retired dental assistant and have worked with several dentist. Even so... I'm no different than most people...nervous about going and what the outcome with be. I'm a big chicken in the chair...blood pressure goes up..you know what I'm talking about. I thank God for a dental office that puts me at ease from the moment I walk in the door. It's amazing what happens when you are greeted by a friendly and fun staff...the fear leaves!
Now about Dr. Gates...I sing his praises...literally! He does excellent work in my mouth and I'm very picky about that. He takes his time and makes sure that it looks good...and no pain! That's important! Did I mention that he is very caring and compassionate. He is the first dentist that I have seen who gives me sunglasses so the light doesn't bother my eyes. He lets me listen to headphones so that I can relax. He always stops and asks me if I'm doing alright..any pain, etc. Wow...it's really nice.! He even called me the night after an appointment to see if I was doing alright!
I also have to mention his staff...they are so much fun and they always make me feel special. Most of them have been there a long time, which tells me something about this practice...you only stay somewhere that long if you truly enjoy your job and the people you work with.
Don't want to leave out the dental assistants...they are very skilled in the mouth and in the lab. I'm impressed! And when you have to get your teeth cleaned...same great treatment!
. So yes...I would recommend Dr. Gates to my family and anyone else who wants quality work done in their mouth. I think that I deserve that and I know that others feel the same way!

Dr. Gates dental practice is 5-star from the moment you call to make an appointment to the time you check out to leave. His team is extraordinary!! They are technically skilled, extremely friendly and have the unqiue ability to go the extra mile in making you feel "special" as a patient!! Dr. Gates spends quality time with his patients and is interested in their total health and well-being, not only their teeth. Health practices this amazing are extremely difficult to find in this day and age!

As a Physician Assistant I've had 25 years experience working in a clinic setting. Sad to say, I've also had numerous visits to the dentist throughout my life.

I have been going to Doctor Gates for about 10 years and have had nothing but positive experiences with him and his office staff. I have known many good dentists but none I would have called great until I met this gentleman. He is not only professionally competent and truly compasionate, but has that rare quality of being a gentle man.

Professional, in that he not only has the knowledge and skill of a great dentist, but takes the time to put the patient at ease with both information and answers to questions. When I first met him I warned him that I was the kind of patient who sat and whimpered all through a procedure. I'm glad to say that I was never put in a position where I embarrassed myself.

Compassionate, in that he took the time after a procedure to continue his care of the pateint. I never had a procedure by him that I wasn't called later that evening to find out how I was doing. I have known this with physicians, especially surgeons, but this was my first experience of this with a dentist.

He is a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. For those who do not know the derivation of that word I would recommend looking it up in the dictionary. Don't be surprised if you see a picture of Doctor Gates when you do.

Finally, I have to say something about his office staff. I know how important office staff is to a well run office. His staff is one of the most efficient, courteous and funloving with which to deal that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Humor is highly underrated when dealing with potentially painful and expensive procedures. I include his dental hygeinist as well as the dental assistants in this praise, as well.

Not only would I recommend him to my family but have, and they have all thanked me for it and share in my very high opinion of this man and all of his staff.

What an amazing first visit. In this day and time getting to spend time with the doctor is rare!! I loved being able to speak with him about my dental needs. He took time getting to know me and made my visit enjoyable. I liked being able to see what he could see by using a camera in my mouth. I have NEVER had an exam like this before...worth every penny!! His staff is very friendly and pleasant. I'm so glad I came to this office....give them a call you won't regret it!!

Wonderful experience. He replaced an old filling that was causing gum problems. After coming in for a cleaning he fit me in that day to replace my filling. That evening he even called my home to check on me and make sure I was feeling fine. I would recommend Dr. Gates to anyone.

I have been going to this dentist for 12 years and never experienced any problems the other reviewer has talked about. He put veneers on my front teeth and they look so great. If you could see the before and after pics you would be amazed. They take the pics for you can see what the results are once you finish your treatment. I will never go any where else. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Well, I went in for a first time visit and immediately began to feel a little uncomfortable. They initially sat me down in an "interrogation" room and took my pic along with gathering the usual info for a first time appointment at a doctors/dentist office. After speaking to the assistant and then the dentist, they moved me to the exam room and took some x-rays. Then came the exam by the dentist where he barked out a bunch of Doc Speak to his assistant along with many "average condition to extreme condition comments" about my teeth and gums--not one positive note. From the sound of the doc, my teeth will be falling out in a day or so. Then came the special inside-the-mouth-camera that magnified all the minute defects of my teeth. Therefore, it made me feel as though i had a mouth full of pitchforks and he made sure to point out that I would need extensive cosmetic work to correct the problem and that my teeth were 'old-looking'. After that, they pulled out the color chart of teeth and decided that my teeth were way browner than they should be, according to them. They also said I had really dirty teeth and it would be "pushing it" to complete the cleaning in one visit (adding that it would cost me an extra $50 even though Metlife covers two cleanings a year for free).

I must say that I have had a dentist from the first day I ever had teeth, never required braces, have only had a few cavities in my life and brush daily. In fact, their x-rays confirmed I had no cavities at the visit.

I paid about $100 to hear about how to 'fix' my messed up mouth of teeth. They told me i would need to pay $475 out-of-pocket for an occlusal guard for teeth grinding, strongly recommended the ever so expensive (starting at $250 up to $600) teeth whitening, and an extra $50 for a teeth cleaning that has always been free at every other dentist in my lifetime.

In summation, I went to the dentist to talk about my dental health, make sure I had no cavities, gum problems, and setup a teeth cleaning. I walked out feeling like i was a hideous person with nasty teeth and needed to spend around one grand to even start to look like a decent human being.

I think they use the guise of dentistry to push expensive cosmetic procedures to increase the more profitable part of their business. They make you feel ugly to push their product. I will not be returning to Dr. Gates.
