Gayle is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and has been working with people living with and affected by health challenges, change and transition for over 25 years. Gayle is a therapist, professional trainer, organizational consultant, clinical supervisor, critical incident responder, and non-profit director. She has presented at countless conferences and workshops nationally on the emotional needs of people living with health challenges, caregiver grief, compassion resilience among professionals, group facilitation, talking with young people about death, and counseling people at the end-of-life. Gayle contributed a chapter entitled "The Grieving Caregiver" to the book "Caring for the HIV/AIDS Caregiver," and is an ADEC certified Thanatologist.
Gayle provides organizational consultation and clinical supervision for pre-licensed therapists. Prior to Crocus Hill Counseling Center, she was therapist, program director and development director at Center for Grief, Loss and Transition for over ten years. In Washington, DC, Gayle was in private practice for six years working extensively with people impacted by illness, loss and grief, was HIV/AIDS training director for a small non-profit organization, and education director for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington. She facilitated an on-going spouse loss support group for Jewish Family and Children's Services, started up the Los Angeles Youth Network, a homeless youth program in Hollywood, California, coordinated programs and provided counseling for the Response Center, a Los Angeles counseling program for people victimized by violent crime, and worked with several former cult members at the California Institute for Women.
Gayle's approach is deeply impacted by her travel to Spain, Central America, Bali, Kyoto, Australia, Singapore, and Western Europe and having lived on both coasts before landing in the middle of the country (which she loves!) She has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, is a political news "junkie," loves to garden without gloves, and cocoon at home with really good coffee. She currently lives in Golden Valley with her spouse, 18-year old son, twin 14-year old son and daughter, and four rescue pets including a cat who drools, an old black lab who still jumps on people, a smiling yellow lab, and the cutest little terrier-poodle.
