Received a referral to Dr. Petroff as he was the only neurologist in the Austin area that could schedule an appointment in the next several weeks. In fact, he had an opening the following morning! It was quickly evident why this was the case. He didn't seem to want to help solve an obvious seizure problem and weirdly never made eye contact, which in Neurology one would think is quite important. He seemed extremely distracted, perhaps because the appointment (after a 50 minute wait) tore him away from a conversation with an attractive drug rep that arrived there five minutes after the scheduled appointment time. In multiple visits, it somewhat seemed somewhat like he was sampling the wares as he appeared to be almost autistically disconnected. After firing him and obtaining copies of the medical records, it was clear from his notes that he indeed had not been paying attention to any of the conversations about the seizures. It was as if the notes referred to a completely different patient. In the world of medicine, it is rare for doctors to abandon established practices due to the huge financial hit of starting again from scratch, yet Petroff moved to Austin after many years in Vegas - I wonder why that could be? I would never refer any of my family and friends to go here. A visit to this person seems to be a complete waste of time. The referring physician is speading the word amongst colleagues not to send him any business. On a side note, he bears a strong resemblence to Dr. Harold Shipman....

I was very nervous about having to see a neurologist. However, my visit to Dr. Petroff's office was such a good experience, that I look forward to returning. His staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and they got me in to see the doctor right away. He was patient and answered all of my questions. I recommend his office, if you are looking for a neurologist.
