I have been going to this Doctor for over 20 years and have always appreciated that the Dr takes a lot of time with his patients. My wife also had seen until she passed away.

The Office staff has changed many times since I have been going there and about 3-4 years ago they got new staff as receptionist and nurse asst ----- they are much better then who were there before them. Unfortunately, about the summer of 2013 a new receptionist started working and seems to be there on Monday and Friday so those are the days I try not to call or schedule to come in ----- she is very rude and often speaks down to you - like she is better then anyone else. This has not only happen to me but I have over heard her talking to people at the window too.

I received a bill from there that had charges from 2012 and 2013 and current date ----- I called and spoke to a very nice but hard to understand person about the bill. She explained to me the current charges and when I questioned the receptionist about the billing person I was informed that she only started working there in 2013 so now I'm wondering who did the billing before her and why they did not do their job correctly and get me a bill for 2012 then instead of now?!?!?

If you don't mind waiting to be seen by a wonderful doctor ---- you should definitely call Dr Gingerich. Well worth me waiting

I have been to literally 100+ Doctors due to a myriad of conditions from genetic to acute. Dr. G either handles them or directs me to competent Doctors who can. My entire family goes to him, even my husband who after meeting Dr. G, doesn't mind the long wait. Yes, the main issue with this office is the long wait but as others have said, it is due to his attention to you. He feels like a good family member who listens and cares. I have waited up to 4 1/2 hours in office from start to finish and didn't care. He is worth is. Yes, the former office workers did make it difficult at times but I was just told today by my mother that the offices has had a "face lift". So, when I go tomorrow, perhaps I can add a review about the function of the office. It seems the FAX machine in the past was almost like a forgotten entity in their space. I had a FAX that sat in the tray for two weeks. That was office, not Doc related. I hope his new staff does him right because he deserves it. One last thing, they are closed on Wed's, unfortunately my husbands only weekday off. I am housebound and require someone to drive me due to this closed day. Perhaps I can talk him into changing it! LOL....all kidding aside, I am very ill at 53 (this month) and without him, I would have died by now. Seriously. I would hate it if he retired because no Doctor could live up to his legacy. If you have the time, so does he.

The Dr. is wonderful. Takes time to talk to you, explain things to you. I have been going to him for many years. One HUGE problem though is the staff. Judy is great, but the receptionists frequently take forever to get to you, they can be rude on the phone. The billing person has made multiple errors with my bill, saying I owe way more than I do, having to jump through hoops to prove I do not. The person that writes the prescriptions has forgotten meds and wrote them wrong. The wait is HORRIFIC. Count on waiting a minimum of an hour, 2 hours is not unusual. Once in the back in a patient exam room, plan on another hour wait that is the norm and those rooms are generally pretty cold. Count on 3 hours average to go see him. Other than that, he himself is fantastic, caring person.

"Dr. G." is wonderful! I have noticed other reviewers have complained about his staff. First off, his staff has changed recently - he has new people and they seem really pleasant and friendly (and his wonderfully helpful medical assistant Judy is still there). Secondly, anything negative with his staff is cancelled out by the medical care the doctor delivers. Yes, you may have to wait a little while to see him, but that's because he gives quality time when it's necessary. I've talked to other patients in his waiting room who echo the same sentiment ; you can see why you might sometimes have to wait when you see the quality of care he provides.

I think he's THE BEST! You do sometimes have to wait a long time to see him, but once you spend a few minutes with him, you see why you waited : he actually listens to you and never rushes through a visit. He's thoughtful, very thorough and obviously very knowledgeable. I HIGHLY recommend him and stress that he's worth the waits and any minor frustrations with his staff.

I agree with other reviewers: Dr. Gingerich is caring and gives you lots of time, but the staff is incompetent, and this ultimately leads to an unsatisfactory experience. Here's just the latest example: I recently moved out of state and then faxed a request for my medical records to be sent to my new physician. 2 weeks later they had not arrived. I called Gingerich's office; they said they would get right to it. Another week, no records. I called again, this time they promised they would send them the next day. A week and a half later, no records, and my doctor's appointment with the new physician is coming up in a week. I call Gingerich's office again; she promises she'll get to it today. I ask her now to fax (rather than mail) the records to get to the new physician in time. She promises to do it during the lunch hour. Later that day, still no records. I call again and she promises she'll get them faxed that afternoon. The next day my new physician informs me that a fax came in but several pages were blank. Tried to call Gingerich's office again, they're closed. It's been over a month now since my initial request and numerous empty promises from the staff and still no complete records have been sent to my new physician.

If you have the patience for an unbelievably incompetent office staff, Dr. Gingerich is a very nice man and competent doctor. If I were to return to Valpo, however, I would find a new doctor simply on the basis of his office staff.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gingerich's for more than 15 years, and I don't think I'd ever find a more caring Dr. When he is treating you, you feel as though you are his only patient and he spends as much time with you as necessary. You never feel like he's rushing you out the door to see his next patient. However, his receptionist personnel will leave you sitting in the reception area waiting until they are "ready" to check you out after they finish their personal conversations with their co-workers. I have had many experiences of this and have had to go up to the window and ask to pay so I can leave.

I was looking for a new Dr. and went to Gingerich. He is a kind and careful listener and is very thorough. That being said, beware, because members of his office staff are rude, unhelpful and careless.

Great Doctor! I've been with Dr Gingerich for over 15 years and I can tell you he is a quality physician. He is knowledgeable and he takes the time he needs to diagnose correctly. Excellent personality. Honest, caring and not pretentious.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gingerich for 15 years and I cannot express how great a physician he is. There is no nicer person and doctor. He makes all his patients feel they are important taking the time to listen. He really cares about his patients. What would we do without him? Thanks Doctor Gingerich

I have been seeing Dr. Gingerich since I met my wife in 1992. He is a wonderful doctor and has done well managing my asthma and keeping me on track. I would recommend him to anyone!! He's got an excellent bed side manner and is never in a hurry to rush you out of his office. He's always willing to listen and take the time for each of his patients.

I had a great Dr. when I lived in Hammond called Dr. Faulkner it was way to far to travel when your sick. It took me 5 years to find another Dr. like him. It was worth the wait because we found Dr. Gingerich, by accident. They gave us Dr. Als which is another great Dr. But he was over staff and they switched us to Dr. Gingerich that was starting out. I have never been sorry. I've gone to him for about 15 years the search is over.
I trust him totally with my life and my childrens. I live where I do because I don't think I would get lucky again to find such a great Doctor like him. Great bedside manner, takes his time with you, and he even makes you feel a little better after seeing him, he is so pleasant to talk to. He also has a great Nurse Judy she's helped me a lot with shots. Always a smile on their faces. Really great people though we do miss Linda and Enga they were really sweet nurse's. Their just all the greatest.

PROS: Great bedside manner, really cares about people and helping them.
CONS: long wait to get in at times but worth the wait

I love the dr I could however do without his staff but luckily he is so great he makes up for it. The only thing I dont like besides the staff is having to wait an hour to get in to the room then another half hour to see the dr.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gingerich for nearly 15 years. He is not only a wonderful man, with a kind bedside manner, but also an excellent physician. I trust him with the care of all 4 of my children, from birth to the present! There is no one better. . .Definitely someone that I would put my life in their hands.
