Talk about highway robbery. I came in knowing I had tennis elbow, knowing I have a small amount of arthritis, and was taken advantage of financially. Check this out:
1) visit 1 (June 4): a squeeze to knee, squeeze to elbow (diagnosis arthritis and tennis elbow) Already knew that... but doctor thought that I should come in for xrays. THATS IT!
2) visit 2 (June 19): xrays THATS IT!
3) visit 3 (June 22) this visit was rescheduled based off ? but I went in to get results. I did not see any xrays but doctor said it shows arthritis and I must have tennis elbow. Doctor says that maybe I come back if doesn't get better. THATS IT!
Now the immortality of the situation:
*In August I received a bill from doctors office for ONLY VISIT 1 for $239 that I owe out of pocket as my insurance only covered $200. (says I am 60 days overdue) FOR WHAT? I assumed it was for all 3 visits, but NO- only visit 1 and that should expect more bills for visit 2 and 3. WHAT??? Are you serious. It looks like I am going to have to pay $400 out of pocket (all 3 visits) for nothing. I am still in so much pain and would of rather put that money into physical therapy.
*After every consult I specifically asked if I owed anything and was told "You have great insurance"- I would of paid any outstanding right then and there as ALL MY OTHER DOCTORS handle that way.
*I was never advised of fees or how much services were going to cost
*I spent more time in the lobby and waiting for doctor than I actually was consulted.
*Did not see any xrays
*Called several times to understand the bill. Billing department says "Call the receptionist", receptionist says "Call the billing department" and from there I was hung up on multiple times and put to voicemail. Then no returned call. I had no hostility just wanted a detailed bill of their services.
*Finally I demanded to speak to the doctor. He called me back and said he was going to look into. When he called me back he kept telling me how I owe the bill or they have their own financial institution that will handle collecting. WOW. He even stated that he was there when the receptionist stated "You have great insurance" but then he said "well, that was before they got the info from the insurance".
I feel that I was treated unethically and am baffled by the charges when nothing was accomplished. My goal is to make sure that innocent people that do not go into this establishment blindsided when they are vulnerable due to injuries. Make sure you ask Dr Richard S. Glick of Fort Lauderdale all the details or reap the consequences.
