This office is more suitable for cosmetic issues. I went for a mole check one yr and was very quickly examined and asked not to come back for 2 yrs. I did feel as if this was a waste of their time, and not a routine office visit. Of course any cosmetic issues were addressed more in detail and a rep was sent in. They tried to sell me a regimen that was over my budget (to reduce dark spots). Alot of products are for sale in the office. My 2nd visit was actually much better and I felt the doctor did spend more time w me (after I complained the first time).

I want to start out by saying that I usually don??t post negative feedback on people or places, but negligence like that ?? IMO ?? is just plain dangerous.
So here is goes: Yesterday I went to Susan Goodlerner in Torrance for my annual mole check. She came recommended by my primary, and even though there were a couple of bad reviews on Yelp, I decided to check her out. I??m not even going to go into the 2 month wait for an appt. (it was a routine visit) or the 45min wait time.
What REALLY bothered me was that she glanced at my body, touched one mole and decided I was ok. She didn??t turn my arms, check between my fingers, toes, behind my ears, nothing. She asked me if I had a mole on my scalp, which I told her I??d found one new one and she looked at it, but didn??t bother parting my (freshly washed) hair and checking the rest of my scalp. This also was my first mole check where the doctor didn??t use one of those magnifying eye glasses.
Now I have TONS of moles. Some big and raised, some little. I??ve gone to annual mole checks for the past decade or so, both to independent derms and the dermatology dept. at UCLA Santa Monica. I??ve had 2 suspicious moles removed in the past ?? luckily they were ok. I??ve told her all this and added that my BFF??s aunt found a little dark spot on her leg just before leaving for Hawaii and she went to the doctor to have the ??disfiguring spot? removed. It turned out to be cancer! Hawaii got cancelled and she had to have all lymph nodes in her leg removed! Still, no response. In fact, she said I didn??t even need annual mole checks! The last doc at UCLA recommended I come in every 6 MONTHS to make sure nothing develops into something cancerous!
One thing I noticed: There were no magazines in the waiting room, just brochures and before and after pics of Botox, Fraxel and various other things. Now I??m just guessing here, but are there 2 sets of dermatologists out there? One that deals with skin issues and the other one that ??beautifies? us?
So I just wanted to warn you all. Going to Dr. Goodlerner for a mole check is not only a waste of time and money, it could potentially be deadly (going for the drama).
