I have been with Dr. Zimmerman for 10 years. He is simply a super doctor. I have found him to always be very concerned, caring, pleasant, precise in his work, and willing to take the time necessary to do the job 100% accurately. The office is clean with the most modern equipment. All of the staff is pleasant and helpful. I have never had any billing problems ... or for that matter, any problems at all!
i would definitely recommend Dr. Zimmerman!

I already had my prescription, but the frames I had chosen elsewhere were rather ordinary. I wanted to feel more attractive when wearing my glasses. The extremely experienced optician assisted me not only in selecting frames that flatter

I've been seeing Dr. Zimmerman for years, and have occasionally seen other opticians as well here. I wear contacts, and he was recommended as a contact specialist and is certainly knowledgeable and helpful in that area. They run all the tests to be sure that your eyes are healthy and have upgraded equipment over the years as new, more accurate tests have become available -- with no extra cost to the consumer. I have experience with glasses fittings with them as well, as does my husband (who doesn't wear contacts), and the help I've gotten choosing flattering new frames (whatever budget I presented) was stellar. I wouldn't have thought to try shapes that they recommended that turned out to be so flattering, I've sometimes worn glasses over contacts!

Surprised to see any bad things as my experience was so good.
Dr. Zimmerman couldn't have been nicer and the ladies there were so much fun to pick out frames with.
Got my glasses last week and I see and look great.

i'm getting married soon and decided i didnt want to walk down the isle with glasses so came to gramercy park optical to try contacts. I was pretty nervous because i'm kind of freaked out about my eyes.. but it was all so surprisingly easy. i saw dr. frohofer (sp?) she was so cool and nice, she suggested daily disposables as the easist option for me..which they definitely are.. after my exam.. which was really thorough she even took these pictures of the inside of my eye and showed them to me, one of the staff taught me how to put the contacts in and out, she was sooooo patient with me :).. i left with a bunch of trials... And I love seeing without glasses!! its so great...i cant believe what i've been missing...i came back for one follow just to check and see how things were.. I love my contacts!!!

I have been going to Gramercy park optical for about 4 years and have always had a great exam. I wanted to comment because I have always had great service from the staff and perfect prescriptions for my contacts. Dr. Zimmerman is exceptionally thorough and solved my problems with contacts that I had before going there.
I can't believe these reviews, because my friends who go there, and I have always been very happy with our glasses and contacts.
I highly recommend.

We recently took our 7 year old daughter to Gramercy Park Optical for an eye exam and new glasses. Firstly, Dr. Fronhofer was rude and abrupt with my other child while my daughter was getting an examination. The counter help was very persuasive in buying designer frames and not more durable frames, after all the patient is only 7. We were informed that the glasses were available for pick up, and we headed into Manhattan from Brooklyn to get them. Unfortunately, one of the lenses fell out of the frame less than a hour after we picked them up. My oldest daughter was extremely upset at how things were done and more upset that her younger sister was crying that she "broke" her very expensive new glasses. Save your money, and find a place where children are treated properly, and the sale of a pair of "expensive" glasses is not the primary objective. Hated it!!!

While the Doctor is good and a honest man, his counter help are incompetent. They set my pupil diameter width off by 11%. Had to be redone. Then for another prescription the woman at the counter insisted the lens that I could not see out of was okay. The Doctor confirmed later it was flawed, contrary to the shop-attendant at the counter. He dd have the lens remade.

I'VE BEEN WITH DR. ZIMMERMAN 10 YEARS, AND HE'S ABSOLUTELY THE BEST EYE DOCTOR I'VE HAD. HE'S KNOWLEDGABLE, CONCERNED, KIND AND CONSIDERATE, METICULOUS, PLEASANT, AND LOVES WHAT HE DOES. FOR OVER 10 YEARS, HIS WORK, AS I JUDGE IT, HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. I AM COMPLETELY HAPPY AND SATISFIED AT GRAMERCY. THE OFFICE IS NEAT AND CLEAN, AND THE PERSONNELL ARE ALL PLEASANT AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THE PRICES ARE QUITE FAIR. AND DR. ZIMMERMAN DOES NOT KEEP HIS PATIENTS WAITING.
DEFINITELY, VISIT GRAMERCY, AND YOU'LL NEVER NEED TO GO ELSEWHERE. YOU'LL BE A DR. ZIMMERMAN FAN-- AS I AM!!

Frames are terribly overpriced as are the lenses. Don't expect to be treated with respect by the horrible sales girls. Take your business elsewhere unless you really love to be waited on by people who think they are better that you despite the fact that they have a minimum wage job in retail. Ladies, get over yourselves.

I went to Gramercy Park Optical bc they accept my insurance. I was seen by Dr. Perklasky a few weeks ago and for a follow up appointment the other day and am very pleased with the care I received. I have a high prescription and astigmatism and have always had a lot of trouble with contact lenses, and felt like at other places they treat me like a "complicated patient." Dr. Perklasky took her time with me and suggested that a large part of my problem is that my eyes are very dry, and recommended a different type of contact lens and cleaning solution. I was about to give up on contact lenses, but once the dryness problem was solved, I am wearing contacts more comfortably than ever before - all because the doctor was so attentive and thorough. Very impressed with how professional and dedicated the doctor and staff are!

Oh, also, the office has this really cool camera -- you can see the back of your own eye and the doctor explains everything to you. Just an added bonus!

I live in the gramercy area and woke up with an eye infection last saturday. I called gramercy park optical to see if i could be seen- and the dr was nice enough to squeeze me in. I feel bad I forgot her name- but it is long- starts with a "P". She was really professional and comforting and treated my infection- which was related to my contact lenses.

The office was clean and they had a lot of modern technology. I had to get new glasses bc i was not able to wear my contacts with the infection and the staff was really great about helping me pick out an affordable stylish pair. When I am due for my next full eye exam- I will definitely be going to Gramercy Park Optical.

The doctor was nice, but I was never told in advance that the lens evaluation fee will be charged separately. It made me pretty upset when I later found out $200 at my surprise. They were trying to hold on my prescription until I made a phone call. Also, their lenses are over-priced. You can find much cheaper lenses from many other places.

I usually go here because I see Dr. Strauss, who is great. This time I saw Dr. Fronhofer because Dr. Strauss was on maternity level. I was so relieved that she was great too! She was also really efficient, explained everything, and did a really thorough job. She even gave me advice on which frames she liked on me. I had a great eye exam this year as well and I'll keep going back!

I always go back here because of Dr. Strauss. She makes you feel at ease and is very good at explaining why you should or shouldn't do certain things, especially when it comes to contact lenses. She is an excellent eye doctor and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I just finished my eye exam with Dr. Strauss and I have to say that she was great. She was professional, quick, and honest. In addition, she was great about letting me know what she was doing and why for each exam. It turned out that I could use a very low prescription for specific situations, but instead of going into a salespitch (as I've seen at other places) ,she very honestly advised me that I would really only need glasses to drive at night and that they probably weren't necessary. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything which was great. Overall, a very satisfactory visit.

I was having problems with my contacts for over one year. I finally went to Gramercy Park Optical after a friend recommended it. I had a thorough exam, and then a contact lens exam. I was fit with the newest Accuvue lens, and tried monovision, to help me read. It is working great. They also changed my solutions which they felt was making me uncomfortable. These lenses are the best I ever had, and the new solution seems to be working well. I can also read now without reading glasses. I highly recommend this office, which is modern, has great equipment, and a nice staff.

I recently had an eye exam at Gramercy Park Optical, as I do each year. I have been going there for about 5 years now and find I get excellent care. The examinations are incredibly thorough and the doctor really listens to my needs, always fitting me with the newest contacts. They took my vision insurance plan and I got gorgeous Prada frames for my new glasses. I am thrilled as usual with the service both from the doctor and the optician that helps me select frames every year.
I have recommended my collegues and friends and they have all thanked me and are as happy as I am. Thanks, as usual, Gramercy Park Optical for such great service.

I agree that I felt forced to purchase things from them. I went in for an eye exam for new glasses. When I was done I was billed $400 for a contact exam that I didn't ask for! My total bill was $795!! I only wanted an eye exam $15 and new lenses $120 I already had lenses. I will never go there again ever.

I went to GPO to get fitted for contacts - as my health insurance doesn't cover it, I was not happy with paying out of pocket, but got over it. Dr. Miro fitted me for a pair of contacts different from my previous pair, when these new contacts were too strong and I had to return to get re-fitted, the staff were not pleasant or accomodating. To make matters worse, they were not cooperative in giving me a copy of my prescription, I felt forced to purchase the contacts from them instead of 1-800 contacts. (this, by the way, is against the law, I later found out, they must give you this copy) The bigger problem here was that when I needed to return these contacts because THEY had fitted me improperly, they didn't feel obligated to help me out. Also, I had billing issues with my health insurance company because the office filed for another office visit when I had to return for them to fix THEIR MISTAKE. The women who work behind the counter (especially the woman who takes care of contact orders) are nothing more than old cougars with attitudes. I will never return.

Above all, they're pretty underhanded in the way they bill/file for your visit.

When I first began having "fuzzy" eye sight I went to one of the top specialists in NY. I'm a professional photographer and need my eye sight to be perfect. After the initial exam, the doctor sent me to Dr.Warren Zimmerman. It was the best thing ANY doctor has ever done for me!!! Dr.Zimmerman is extremely thorough and professional and at the same time makes you feel very important. He takes his time to make you feel comfortable with him and the results!! When you are at Gramercy park optical you feel appreciated and in the hands of people who wants your best!! I usually is very sceptical when it comes to doctors but in Dr.Zimmermans case I'm 110% confident and don't question his recommendations!!!
-From a VERY SATISFIED client!!!!

I first called Gramercy Park Optical because my eye was red one morning, and I found them on my insurance website. The receptionist was very kind, and squeezed me in to see the doctor that day. Dr. Strauss was very friendly, examined my eyes, and gave me some drops to treat my eye infection. She suggested I return a week later to have a full eye exam and change my contact lenses. The second exam was very thourough and for the first time at an eye exam I went home with a great pair of contacts to try. (I have astigmatism and I usually have to wait for the doctor to order my contacts to try, but they had many brands of contacts in the office). I was able to call a week later to put in my order. The coolest thing they have is a machine that photographs the back of the eye, so I was able to see my retina and Dr. Strauss explained the pictures to me. It was not covered by insurance, but totally worth my $40.
I would definitely recommend a visit to Gramercy Park Optical. Friendly staff, a huge selection of designer frames (I had to control myself to not get two pairs!), and I was extremely happy with Dr. Strauss' exam. She is young, and very knowledgeable. I have a history of glaucoma in my family and she did all of the necessary tests to make sure my eyes are healthy- I never knew Optometrists did that stuff!
If you are looking for an eye doctor, or a place to purchase glasses or sunglasses- check them out!

As I am somewhat new to the city I choose Gramercy Park Optical for both it's nice office and it's high end frames.

However my experience there was less than stellar. They did not include an eye dialation and basic eye health check (I assumed to be standard for an annual eye exam) and I had to make a return appt. In addition there was great confusion about the acceptance of my insurance even though I found them through my provider. I was told to pay up front and then file for reimbursement though my insurance. However learned later through my health insurance that they were double billed (once through my claim and another time for the same service by GPOptical). I am still waiting for this to be remedied...

While office appears to be nice, every aspect of customer service needs improvement!
