Dr. Hurford is very kind and caring. I wrote about my experiences with Dr. Hurford and it was fine overall. In the back of my mind, it bothered me that he spent 3-4 minutes max during my annual exam. He seems to be in a hurry and so I sent him a message about my feelings. He was very professional, but after being his patient for nearly 15 years, I would have thought that I would have received a reply that said more than he was sorry if I felt slighted, but some patients need more time due to certain circumstances. That response made me feel that he didn't value me as a patient. He has been very quick to leave for years, but I never said anything until yesterday. I am in the process of switching to another OB/GYN because I want to see a doctor who is not hurried and considers my needs as important as anyone elses. He did do a great job delivering my boys and I would keep seeing him if it weren't for this one reason. Now that I am done with having babies, I want someone who will support through the next stage of my life.

I saw Dr. Hurford 6 or 7 times. He was kind and always called me "hey, gorgeous" or sweetheart" when he would come in a room. However, he looses his patients fast when you ask him questions and he is always in a rush to get out of the room. His frustration is obvious although he tries to be calm and kind. It appears he has too many patients and not enough time. He is always rushing in and out of rooms. I came in for Infertility issues, after tests he said that it is "unexplained and really common" and "nothing to get worried about" we would " try clomid and have you pregnant in 2 or 3 months." I went then to a reproductive endrocronologist and a fertility specialist who concluded I had PCOS with the same information Huffords office had. They also said it could have been dangerous to take Clomid. So it seems to me that he just told me what he thought I wanted to hear and 9 out of 10 times he is probably right. I feel if he slowed down and talked with me, listened to me, and reviewed my chart instead of just scanning it in the room while I was talking he could have gave me a proper diagnosis and saved me many headaches. At one point he actually yelled at me in the hospital after his staff made a clerical error and I had also seen him on an unrelated occasion yell and berate a nurse in the hallway at the hospital. When he isn't showing frusteration or loosing his temper he can be very charming and be the nicest dr. ever; which is many womens' experiance. Just remember that a smile and reassuring words are not always right 100 percent of the time. Dr.'s are people and regardless of how special they make you feel by calling you sweet pet names does not mean that their diagnosises are always correct.

Dr. Hurford seemed to be a caring doctor until the day he was supposed to deliver my aunt's baby. He knew that she had 2 previous c-sections and told her she would be fine to deliver naturally. She was so excited. She went to anderson hospital in labor and there she stayed for 32 hrs in labor never once seeing her doctor. "DOCTOR HURFORD"!!! Then she began having severe abdominal pain not like that of labor pain. She was screaming for the nurses they told her very rude like that they would check her when they realized the fetal heart monitor was going down real fast. To cut a long story short her baby ended up tearing through her c-section scar and then ripped open her uterus and bladder. She almost died and after being on life support for two weeks her little boy died. He was 9lbs and beautiful, the cause of death was drowning inside of his mother!!! Can you imagine

I had some difficulty becoming pregnant and Dr. Hurford was wonderful in helping make my dream of being a mother come true. Within 2 months, I was pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy, I had 3 visits to the emergency room because I was bleeding. He was very concerned and watched me very closely. When my son was born on Labor Day of 2000, he stayed with me for about 3 and one-half hours and comforted me because I had terrible back labor and my epideral wasn't working. I will never forget this!

When I became pregnant with my second child, he was somewhat busier because he had started his own practice. He spent less time during the exam, but would spend more time answering any questions if necessary. When my second child arrived early, Dr. Hurford was at his office and was unable to come until my son was almost here. When he was called about my impending early delivery, he was very cautious and made sure that everything possible was being done to make sure that my son's lungs were strong enough to avoid complications with his health. It turned out that he almost died a few weeks later because he developed RSV. I called his office to let them know and they checked on his status. Not many doctors would do this.

I have recommended Dr. Hurford to many of my friends and colleagues and they all agree that he is very caring and compassionate.

He is very friendly, best, fast moving doctor with lots of great concerns about my problems to be straightened out so faster. Really appreciated with his greatest, excellant works he has been for me. My husband was so pleased discussing with him so serious about my bleeding problem that the doctor was willing to help me get free from having so much bleeding that he can correct it.
Thanks a lot to Dr Hurford that we would recommend anyone to consult you, Dr Hurford in the future.
Thanks, Joyce & Bill

The first time that I went to see Dr. Hurford, I was extremely nervous. He treated me like he had known me for years... like a friend. I have 3 sons, Dr. Hurford delivered my 2 youngest, and I'll never go to anyone else. Never once have I been made to feel like a "number" or "just another patient"... I've recommended him to everyone.. in fact, he has (since my deliveries) been the one to deliver both of my great nieces. Like I said, there's no way that I'll go to anyone else!!!

2 years ago I walked into Dr. Hurford's office and was treated very poorly by his staff... You see I didnt have any inusrance had to talk with the office manager just to make sure that payment for there service could be made...Im not pregnant. I have severe endometriosis. Instead of seeing Dr. Hurford I was seen by his partner Dr. Scharff. He was very nice a first and after several other visits after this one he said that I needed to go to a pain service because it was his thought that even an hystrectomy would not help. I complied. I found a service that would take me and made the appt and asked Dr. Scharff to make sure that this service would provide service for the pain issue that I had...he promised that he would....that promise was never carried out. The service that I was referred to was at Memorial Hospital in Blvl. The visit was horrible. I was crying and in pain. They tried calling Dr. Scharff and he could not be reached. I was in so much pain that I was sent to the ER where I met up an even bigger monster than that of Dr. Scharff. This Dr. at the ER assualted me with a speculum. I was bleeding and laying on a table. One of the nurses there let me call Dr. Scharff's office. I was told that he was not available and that there would be nothing more that office could do for me. The very next day I got a letter (registered) from Dr. Hurfords and Scharffs office. They were telling me that they could do no more for me and to go elsewhere to find healthcare. I have never be so humliated in my life. That bastard refused to stand his patient. he shouldn't have a license to drive let alone practice medicine.

Dr. Hurford is an absolutely amazing doctor. The first time I met him, I knew he was the doctor I would want to deliver my baby someday. When I first saw him, I was having problems. He was so patient with me. We couldn't clear up the problem right away, but he never acted like he was upset with me. He was so caring, and kept trying different techniques until he found one that worked. His bedside manner is terrific. I feel like he genuinely cares about me as a person. When I was pregnant, he seemed truly excited with me. He explains everything he is doing, and keeps you well informed. I had to have a C-section, and he did such a great job I don't even have a scar. He came and checked on me every day in the hospital too - I couldn't believe it! Dr. Hurford is the best!
