He is the WORST dentist I've ever know. He gave me porcelain veneers in 2004 without telling me that there was acrylic in the cement. I wrote on the intake form that I was allergic to acrylic and we even talked about it. When I had an immediate adverse reaction he told me it was a side effect from the anesthetic. A year later it had gotten much worse and my entire mouth was burning up. He still didn't tell me that there was acrylic in the cement. I had to do my own research to find that many dental cements contain acrylic. When I asked him if the veneer cement contained acrylic he finally admitted that, but he still denied it could be causing my mouth and tongue to burn. I had to contact the cement company myself. They admitted that the cement has caused allergic reactions. Dr. Gage still refused to take the veneers off even when I complained that I was in severe pain.

After I filed a complaint with the VT Dental Society he agreed to take the veneers off. He charged me thousands of dollars for terrible work. First he put an unglazed set of crowns in that tasted like chalk. Then he ruined 4 of a second set by shaving away at the back of them. Then he replaced that with a horrible set of metal crowns. That's the picture I posted. The tips were rough and chalky and that made it paiful to talk. It was like having a torture device in my mouth. He then said he thought that the allergic reaction had damaged my immune system and it was not possible for me to get better. I have spend $20,000 trying to fix what he did over the past 6+ years and I am STILL in pain.

I had a similar experience as other reviewer...I received flyer for free exam....However when I got to the office, I was advised that since I was having a current problem (a sore tooth) I would not be elegible for free exam. I was informed I could use that at another time when I wasn't having a problem (a little strange). After examination I was given a printout of costs for the work the Dr. was suggesting. Total was about $1700, after I had already advised them that I had just relocated and was not yet employed and would need to split up payments for any work done. I was told that I could make payments in advance (like a Christmas club for your teeth) and when I had everything paid, then they would do the work. So I paid for the "free exam", I thanked them and then said goodbye.

Went to Dr. Gage earlier this year (February '09) after getting a mailing for a free exam (new patients). We arrived at his (what appeared to be brand new office) facing the Green Mountains & I-89.

The staff & Dr. Gage were accommodating & pleasant, and gave us complimentary Closys paste, mouthwash, & fluoride rinse, however the hygienist recommended getting a full set of x-rays done at a cost of $120. (We already had a cleaning scheduled elsewhere, and later had the full set done with no sedation & at a much lower cost.)
Dr Gage had recommended a few things that needed to be done, and we were greatly surprised at the costs: $2928 for a bicuspid root canal with $396 of it for sedation, or $231 basic extraction for the bicuspid, and $174 for a deep cleaning.
Needless to say, we thanked Dr. Gage & staff for the exam, and went elsewhere for comparison pricing.

I'm giving a 3 star because of the expensive pricing, as everything else we experienced was good.
