While the office isn't too hard to find. The staff aren't bad, not the best but not bad. The actual doctor is not good. If you have depression and just need some welbutrin then she might be just what you need. If you have anything else forget it. When I came to her I told her about previous hospitalizations, which were for suicide attempts or ideation with plan, she has yet once asked me if I have had suicidal thoughts. She asks how you are doing and that is it. She will catch on if you give a vague answer and will inquire for more information but if you present information her catch all answer is more treatment, more therapy. . . If I could treat it with therapy my therapist wouldn't be reminding me I had to tell her. She has messed up my prescriptions every time, either giving me a duplicate but forgetting one, or me in the office reminding her as she was pushing me out the door, or forgetting to right refills on meds and it is not easy to get ahold of her to make corrections. She doesn't reply to pharmacy faxes (they told me because I asked them to contact her) she doesn't interact with your therapist, and she has never done a session to get to know me. I came and said I don't want my meds touched, then I decided to move them around and stop some and she let me, and when I looked to her for what I could do to help me because things were getting worse and have remained on a downward spiral I was told more treatment. mind you I have individual twice a week, and a therapy class for 2 hours a week, and NAMI meetings once a week... 5 hours of treatment a week. I have done many day programs and been through it all. my therapist and I looked into it before and decided it would not benefit me. (my therapist isn't in her office). My overall satisfaction is none. and my last appointment she was 35 minutes late to getting to the office. . . and never apologized for it. She has never talked to me about my diagnosis or anything and I don't even trust her at this point and am switching so someone new in a month but have a follow up with her in 2 weeks. DONT go, DONT waste your time and DONT risk your health.

I'm not sure if a few of the previous reviews were of the same Dr and office staff that I dealt with. I found Dr Halpern to be extremely pleasant and her staff to be wonderful. The front receptionist was always more than pleasant and most accommodating. I would highly recommend both Dr. Halpern and her staff.

I have been seeing Dr. Hapern for over 3 years. I would not go to anyone else.Condition diagnosis and medication management are exactly that and Dr. Halpern does both of these things very well. When I am trying to describe how i am feeling she is great at taking my jumbled feelings and putting them together into something that makes sense.
I see Marta Archer for my therapy and She makes me feel very comfortable.Marta is very resourceful and takes the time figure me out. Both Dr. Halpern and Mrs. Archer have always been very accomodating with scgeduling my appointments. I have never felt rushed during an appointment. I would highly recommend Dr. Halpern and Marta to anyone and have done so many times.

We found Dr. Halpern to be a neglectful healthcare provider and her office very poorly run. She was always running behind, rushed to the point of unsafe practice (1 important med checkup lasted almost exactly 120 sec b/c her staff told my husband she had a meeting, despite his having a previously scheduled app't). She was rude, arrogant, and fails to listen or really "hear" her patients. Her office staff was generally unpleasant as well, which is shame b/c all of our other doctor's offices' staffs are lovely! Getting an app't in a timely manner? FORGET IT! God forbid you have to cancel even a single app't (WITH more than 24 hrs notice, mind you!) b/c you have childcare issues- you'll run out of medication and they won't refill it, no matter what, until they can fit you in for an app't again....which in our case, was over 2 weeks away!! We're not talking controlled substances here either- just a simple, maintenance medication. She could have cared less that the medication that SHE prescribed, which was MEDICALLY NECESSARY(!!!), would not be available b/c of the app't change, and would then lead to an unstable state of health. Her treatment of us and our family led to nearly indescribable feelings of powerlessness and frustration. A doctor's first responsibility is to "Do No Harm", and we feel Dr. Halpern caused plenty of harm with her shoddy treatment.

Dr. Halpern is not a hand holder, and does not pretend to be. She is, however, a competent and capable physician, and she cares deeply about helping patients improve.

Words cannot describe how frustrating this psychiatrist makes me. She will get you hooked on a load of different medications that are Hell to come off of and will only make your condition worse. I would not go here EVER Again! Stay away.

I was provided with medication but I do not feel the therapy helped me. I was promised a certain type of treatment but did not get it. I felt brushed off and not really cared about. I felt like they did not believe in me. I should have referred myself out of their office. I was suffering and my anxiety got worst.

First I am going to put this out there-if you are looking for a psychiatrist that gives you the warm fuzzies, Dr. Halpern is NOT the doctor for you. If you DO want someone that is VERY good at what they do (diagnosis and meds) then look no further.

I had been misdiagnosed for 2 years and as a result had been on medication after medication that actually made my condition WORSE. Dr. Halpern took a LONG time to go through my laundry list of past meds, what effect they had on me, and my ENTIRE psychiatric history before she wrote me anything. She is also VERY willing to change things if they are clearly not working. Every other doctor I had been to would just up dosages on me, thereby overmedicating me. When Dr Halpern found my right combination of medication, I felt like a new person. Like I said though, she doesnt mess around and is very businesslike and to the point. She WILL get to the bottom of what is wrong though, and will find what works best for you.
