I specialize in brief and longer-term psychotherapy for couples and individuals who are unhappy with some aspect of their lives/relationships. Often they have several concerns at once and may feel stuck and confused about how to initiate change.
I work collaboratively from a Somatic perspective, listening on several levels to how a client perceives themselves and the situation. Several have expressed appreciation for my combination of deep empathy and analytic curiosity which can often lead to fresh perspectives or effective tools. I am straightforward and also use a lot of humor in my sessions. I have a passionate belief in the power of Psychotherapy to offer relief and well being to people, and my work continues to strengthen that belief.
If you are interested in the theories I am trained in, we can discuss those in your free initial consultation. I find myself drawn to a Mindfulness Based Cognitive approach, though I also work Psychodynamically. With couples I refer to the work of the Gottman's and with families, I use a Family System's framework. But people and their experiences are infinitely diverse, while sharing some similarities. Therefore I find it best to use whatever techniques resonate best with my client.
