.

I had multiple cysts that I'd seen dermatologists for in the past: one on the back end of the top of my scalp, one on the left cheek close to my mouth, and one in inside of my upper thigh.
I'll go through and explain my reasoning for my star ratings.

Overall:
5 Stars. I can't think of anything bad to say about Holly A. Ward. The scars she left me are clean, minimal, and as good looking as a scar can be. She is also very knowledgeable. They run tests on everything they excise to identify what it is, and when I asked her about what my growths were, it was some 6 or 7 syllable word that she knew the meaning of as soon as the nurse told her what the test results said. As for her personality, she has everything desirable in a physician: she is forthright, honest and precise about what results to expect, willing to listen to and answer questions, and confident in her work. Five stars is a "world class" rating, which almost sounds funny to me because I don't think I've ever deemed anything "world class" in my life (just isn't in my vocabulary) but she provided me with care that two previous dermatologists before her wouldn't because they didn't want to risk giving me scars, and she did the work beautifully, so I feel like four stars would be slighting her.

Did she spend enough time with me?

I just had the excision in my cheek done today. I showed up fifteen minutes late and there was a surgery scheduled before me and another after me and they still found time to squeeze me in. 5 stars.

Ease of scheduling urgent appointments:

I don't think this category necessarily applies to me. Although I did need attention, my condition wasn't exactly urgent. The first appointment was made for about a month after I called and requested one, which I can see another person being angry about. But their office is a busy one, and for good reason. And after my first appointment, I was able to come back every ten days. Four stars.

Do I trust her to make decisions/recommendations in my best interest? Yes, absolutely. 5 stars.

Did she help me understand my condition?

I had a lot of questions about my condition that had been nagging me and she took the time to listen to me. She understood my worries and relieved me of them. 5 stars.

Did she listen to me and answer my questions?

I feel like this question goes hand in hand with the previous one. 5 stars as well.

Friendliness and courtesy of staff:

Like I mentioned earlier, I was 15 minutes late for my appointment today. The nurse who removes my stitches and prepares my cysts for excision was not exactly excited about this. She was talking really fast and was generally impatient with me. I did find this slightly frightening. But every previous appointment, she was very friendly and caring, so I didn't make much of it. Their day was really busy and my being late threw a wrench in the spokes, so to speak. I never had a problem with the ladies behind the desk in the waiting room, so I give the staff 4 stars.

Office environment:
Clean and welcoming. The magazines in the waiting room aren't anything I would read, and the news channel playing on the TV isn't anything I would watch, but I don't think I'll ever find a waiting room that entertains me. I didn't have to spend a lot of time in there anyway. All the equipment in the doctor's office looks up to date and clean. 5 stars.

Recommended?
Absolutely. 5 stars.

I'm very glad I found this office.
