Dr. Amanda Hoover lied to my girlfriend telling her she needed $5800 worth of dentist work. She was planning on preforming surgery to place multiple crowns, periodontal cleanings, and fillings on perfect teeth. The second dentist she went to told her all she needed was a cleaning which was covered by her insurance. Do not go here, She is overpriced and a lair.

They charge too much and have a lot of hidden fees! Had my teeth cleaned and told me I needed a filling I told them I have to talk with my insurance but they told me that they already have and that the insurance will cover it. After a few months got a letter from them charging me $2K for a filling! So I called the insurance and they told me that the procedure ws not covered and they never received any call from the dental office. When I called dr. Amanda hoovers office they told me that they did call up the insurance company but could not provide me with the date/time of call or even the name of the insurance agent. I had to tell them that I already talked with my lawyer from which they lowered their fee to $700 which I ANGRILY AND HESITANTLY had to pay them. If you are still seeing this dr. I suggest talk with your insurance first before any procedure don't just trust their word. KARMA has a lot of ways of coming back to you dr. If you still don't believe me look for other testimonials or google it.

I have been going to Dr. Hoover for over 3 years and I love it there. When you walk in, they offer you a beverage and a cupcake while you wait. The decor is nice and relaxing. My kids say that going to the dentist is like Christmas! lol.

Wow. This Doctor is a scam artist. She told me I had 3 cavities on top of my old fillings- which by the way I have NEVER had a filling! \r

I live in the neighborhood where Dr. Hoover's office is located. Her office is convenient and beautiful. The front office staff is friendly. I had no reason to doubt Dr. Hoover. She appeared knowledgeable and confident.
My horrible ordeal with Dr. Hoover's office began about a year ago. She told me I had multiple cavities. I believed her and made an appointment to begin the process of filling cavities. Well, each time I returned to the office, she found more work to be done, all of which required a lot of money. She told me I needed a root canal.
At this point, I still believed her and continued going in for the dental work. At each appointment, I was in the chair for 3 to 4 hours. Unbelievable! Each ordeal was traumatizing. At one point, they dropped something in my mouth and I had to sit up quickly so not to choke.
I thought this was just me and I was upset that I needed so much dental work. Not to mention all the money I was spending. I was confused because I brush and floss regularly.
Well, since then, I have talked to at least five people in my neighborhood who have gone to Dr. Hoover. ALL have been told that they needed multiple cavities filled AND root canals! . A couple of these people have gone for second opinions and these second opinions have NOT found the cavities or need for root canals.
It is way more than a coincidence that everybody I have spoken with has needed so much dental work, including root canals.
In my opinion, this is criminal. She is stealing money by doing unneccessary work. A very traumatizing experience.
No wonder she has a beautiful office. $$$$

The only reason I rated Dr. Hoover one star is because I could not publish this review without rating her. Otherwise, she would have gotten zero stars from me.\r

This dentist's website makes it easy to schedule an appointment. Her staff is very sweet. And her office is exquisitely decorated.

This is where the niceties end.

I have severe dental phobia no thanks to a poor experience in the past. So, for me to even get in that chair is a feat. I feel like I was taken advantage of because of my fear and how long it had been since I've seen a dentist.

I was given 4 xrays, and a little look see. No gum measuring. Not much of anything else. By the time the "exam" was over I was told I needed about 10 fillings, 3 crowns, and a full on root scaling and planing. All totaling OVER 10,000!!

I didn't have good vibes after I left this place, and so I found a new dentist. This dentist was pleasantly thorough and I found that I only need 4 fillings a crown and my wisdom teeth out (which I knew). This bill is only about 2000 total for me.

I feel "Dr" Hoover takes advantage of patients and does way more than necessary.

We moved the area & were recommended this dentist. Dr Hoover was listed on our dental insurance's website as a provider & confirmed that she was one when I made an appointment. My appointment went well. Office is gorgeously decorated & very nice. I was told after my teeth cleaning that I needed two fillings for cavaties (my first cavaties). I told Dr Hoover that I would call to schedule an appointment.
Two weeks later, my husband has an appoitnment for a cleaning. He is told he needs to pay a co-pay for me, because I didn't pay the full amount when I was there. I later call the office to find out why the co-pay for me was so high. I am told (very rudely) that a co-pay for a filling is of course going to be higher than for a cleaning. I am suprised because I DID NOT have a filling!! The office staff person actually tried to argue with me & tell me that I DID have a filling. She finally said she would double-check with Dr Hoover & then call me back. Meanwhile, I check our insurance. The insurance was billed as if I had had a filling too!
Dr Hoover's office did not call back for 24 hours so I called them. This time I am told that there was a billing error. That I am correct & didn't have a filling. However, I still owed them more $$ because they are no longer a provider for our insurance (Delta Dental). I finally was told that they canceled their association with Delta Dental about 2 weeks before I had my appointment. So now my husband & I have to pay a lot more $$ for using an "out of network" provider. I explain that I was told when I made the appointment that they were providers, that my dental insurance showed them as one, & that they should have told my husband & myself that they were no longer providers.
We had already paid about $50 more to them than what we should have and I feel like they were just trying to get more $$ out of us.
Meanwhile, I start looking for another dentist. This dentist checks my teeth & says that I DO NOT have any cavaties! I DO NOT need any fillings. I am amazed that one dentist would say I needed two fillings while another says my teeth are fine.
Even months after our appointments we keep getting periodic bills from Dr Hoover....not for my teeth cleaning but for the filling that I never did get! And just today they called to ask if my husband wanted to make an appointment for a cleaning.....needless to say that the answer is NO!
