I had an amazing birth experience with Isis. I would highly recommend this practice for any expectant mom who wants a place that makes them feel special and takes their time with you and helps you make informed decisions instead of directing your care - as opposed to just another number in the baby making mill, which is how I felt at several other practices that I tried before finding Isis.

I have now had two babies with Isis, one in 2008 with Margaret and Kay and my second this past Saturday, 8/7/10 with Kim and Dr. Frederick. Although I liked the care I received back in 2008, the care I received this time around was far superior. The staff is amazing, they know you by name, you can get a call back at off hours and on the weekends if needed, and they can work you in around work/kids schedules. This time around I saw both Dr. Frederick and Kim (the midwife) and really liked the balance that created. When I labored for 8 hours with Kim she let me be in the drivers seat trying all natural birth, water birth, and then she was with me with I chose to get an epidural that was weak enough that I could still feel everything in delivery but it took the edge off - it was perfect because this baby was out in two pushes and no tearing since I still had feeling. She helped my husband deliver the baby (which by the way, makes me tear up just thinking about how special that was), she helped me get comfortable after the birth, and they helped me to leave the hospital hours after birth so that I could enjoy my first night at home with the baby. I can't tell you how unusual it is to have both a midwife and a doctor there for you before and after delivery.

I could go on and on about the little things they did to make me feel comfortable and special (like the extra ultrasound because I wanted to confirm the sex, or the NST test they performed because I was nervous, the times they changed their schedule around for me, the coaching I got through my contractions, letting me leave the cord attached until it stopped pulsing, helping set up special genetic screening with the cord blood to test for celiac disease, the list goes on....). Please feel free to email me if you have any specific questions or want more information. I have tested out numerous practices in the Atlanta area (including some at Piedmont and in Dekalb) trying to find a place like Isis, so I can give you a comparison. I chose to drive from Decatur to Roswell because this place is truly special and unique and it was because of them that I had a birth experience that I cherish.
