If you question this Dr about anything she will drop you as a patient. Trust me I questioned her about a billing issue and I was told in a letter I received today 9/18/2010, I needed to find another primary care physician. I simply asked her to remove a $30 charge as I had to cancel an appointment for my daughter who was scheduled for a pap smear and started her period the night before the procedure. Her office receptionist is very unfriendly and cold and when I talked to her regarding this matter she told me that the Dr makes the final decision so I wrote Dr. Hong a letter personally and I received my letter today telling me she could no longer be my Dr.
Here is the letter I wrote.

Dear Dr. Hong:
I am writing to you regarding issues I am having with your office receptionist . Corinna was to come in and see you on August 25, 2010 for a pap smear, however she started her period the night before. I told Maria why we had to cancel and she said we would be charged. I explained that we can't control mother nature but she was adamant about charging the $30.
When I brought Corinna in last week or the week before and she was given her pap smear I asked Maria at that time if we could waive the $30 as we again couldn't control mother nature and there was no reason to come to see you with her being on her period. She stated at that time that she would contact the billing department and talk to them about it.
I spoke with Tina at billing today and she said that she didn't talk to Maria regarding this that it was up to your office.
I just got off the phone with Maria and now she is saying that you have to be the one that decides weather or not it is waived . She stated that Corinna has had 6 no shows I asked her if they were paid for and she said no because you weren't charging for them at the time. Well I have been charged for a few of them and I have no problem paying them but this time it was out of our control.
I am not trying to cause issues really. I enjoy having you as my doctor but Maria's attitude really sucks. She is the first one people encounter upon arriving at your office and she doesn't make a good impression. It looks to me as though she really doesn't like to go the entire distance and make things easier for the patient.
I also told her that I would be looking for another doctor and her response was OK. I don't think you really want to lose patients and I am not threatening you but when your receptionist has a response of OK instead of lets work this out I am afraid you will probably lose a few patients.
I hope this can be worked out so I can remain your patient

I hope that this will help some of you. This isn't revenge it is about what is right/wrong.
As I stated in my letter last week. I had enjoyed having you as a Dr, but your attitude was quite a shock. We live in a country of free speech and instead of helping out the patient and understanding where they may be coming from you dismiss them. As I stated in the review warning other potential patients to NEVER question you or you will be dropped as a patient. It's true, look what happened to me. I could've quit being your patient and then wrote reviews but I was trying to do things in an adult manner and I got a childish response. I hope your practice can endure when they treat the patients as though they are mindless, clueless individual's who should NEVER question you or your office policy and never complain about your receptionist.
It is sad that you had to lose to very loyal patients because of something so petty. I wish you luck.
Sincerely,
Lisa Campbell
I replied to Dr Hong's letter advising me to find a new Dr. I have added that below.
Dear Dr. Hong:
In response to you letter dated 9/16/2010. I am quite saddened that the medical profession has come to this kind of attitude. I was actually quite shocked by your response. I simply wrote a letter explaining a situation and the attitude of your office receptionist and this is how I am treated. It is to bad that things couldn't have been worked out so you could have kept two patients. It was a simple request and I didn't think $30 would break your practice and we had been patients for 4 years, but I guess it is just easier to throw patients out because you have so many.
Dr's are a dime a dozen so finding a new primary care physician won't be too difficult. Word of mouth is a POWERFUL tool. That is how I found you to begin with, someone I had worked with referred me to you.
I will not be paying the rest of my balance to your office off. If you can simply throw two patients away after four years and I have paid ALL of what I have been told I owed, including the no call/no shows I had been charged for, because I simply spoke up and thought that we could be adult enough to work this out then I would rather file bankruptcy on the remaining bills and put my money toward a new primary Dr.
