I couldn't disagree with Pia S. more! The swab is to deaden things so Dr. Emanuel (one 'm') can use the scope. As someone said, if you have hemorrhoids, the dr has to stick his/her finger up your butt to do the exam -- not fun but that's part of the deal. Dr. Emanuel's bedside manner is terrific -- thorough, no nonsense, and he has a wonderfully dry sense of humor. And Nurse Sandy is amazing. I've been with them for +/- 20 years and refer them at every opportunity.

Dr. Emanuel was the 3rd ENT I saw for my continuous sinus infections. He was by far the most concerned and the most solution oriented.

Under Dr. Emanuel's care, I improved immensely, when all my other ENTs were completely ineffective.

Dr. Emanuel does have courteous staff members although I found his bedside manners to be a bit cold.
After switching allergist due to an unexpected large bill. I was told that the shots I had been receiving for my allergies was like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. While the shots are highly affective there are many other less harmful ways of treatment which I'm successfully using today. This office should discontinue services to allergy patients.

I went to see Dr. Ivor Emmanuel for a minor irritation in my throat. It felt like something was stuck in my throat for weeks at a time. The secretaries, the nurses, Dr. Emmanuel were all fantastic. They had great bedside manner, were friendly and made you feel very much at ease. The treatment was pretty heinous, especially for such a small problem, but I can only assume this is standard (I hope!). He said he wanted to apply a local anesthetic to the back of my throat, so he took one of those long cotton swabs, one of those long wooden swabs that they have in doctors offices, put the anesthetic on it, and put it on the back of my throat: THROUGH MY NOSE! It was excruciating, especially since I was cracking up the whole time. He gets it in there, its touching the back of my throat, and he says, Alright, lets just let that sit for a few minutes, and he takes off. This whole thing is absurd so Im cracking up but in complete agony. He finally comes back, rips it out, and proceeds to put a camera on a long black rubber tube through my nose. He is grunting with the effort. I thought the cotton swab was painful. Anyway, no real complaints except the treatment sucked, but it did give me a some good material for bar conversations.
