I have two children that attend this office, and we have seen just about all of the doctors and the Nurse Practitioners. My oldest child is ten years old and she has been going there since she was born. I have always felt welcomed and loved the staff there that is until today. My son just turned three today and my husband was taking him to his appointment. My husband was running a few minutes behind so I called to let them know only to find out that if your more than ten minutes late they will not see you. Well I left my job which happens to be right around the corner to sign him in, only to be questioned as soon as I handed the form in. "is the child with you?" My response was no. Followed by "how long will he be?" I tell the staff member five minutes. She then informed me that she would not put his chart in the back until the child arrived and to let her know when he got there. Literally five minutes later my husband was there with our son. So I informed the staff member that he was there to only have another staff member tell me that he has to reschedule since he was late. I understand that policies and procedures are set up for certain reasons, however sometimes there some situations that supersede that. She then proceeded to tell me what she overheard the other staff member tell me on the phone. Needless to say she was incorrect. This was my worst experience ever. To the point that all of the positive visits I have had over the last ten years have gone out the window. There was a supervisor that did attempt to mediate the situation; however my son still was not seen today. Not a happy camper. There was a total lack of professionalism by the office staff. The doctors are great.

We did not have the same experience AT ALL as the previous reviewer. My daughter is on an alternative vaccine schedule and he very respectfully discussed it with me at length when she was a baby. He never made me feel rushed and never tried to push me into anything. We worked together through out that first year and he made sure I was comfortable and informed. We love Dr. Martin and will continue to use him as long as possible.

I think Dr. Martin is fully competent as a doctor, but has a poor interaction style. In the hospital he heavily pushed me to supplement with formula (not necessary) and seemed to search endlessly for something to pathologize (nothing was wrong, nor was there reason to believe we had problems) and in visits since then has had a strong tendency to push hard on finding something wrong and needing a medical solution. If you want your child's care to be heavy on intervention and pathology and let the doctor make all decisions, you may feel happy in Dr. Martin's care. I was not happy with this approach (and for the record my child is fully immunized, has taken antibiotics as needed, etc. -- I just like to be informed and make appropriate decisions) and whenever I questioned Dr. Martin about a non-essential and not time sensitive "well care" intervention he was rude and/or dismissive. At one point he made a comment that I consider highly unprofessional and inappropriate, likening my desire to consider our options to engaging in high risk, illegal behaviors.

We've been much happier in the several months since we switched to a new MD -- not sure what took us so long to switch.

Also, the office is dirty and dingy. I didn't like to have my child playing there while we wait.

I was assigned Dr. Martin by my insurance company without having a choice but I couldn't be happier. He has been excellent with scheduling appointments and when my son came down with jaundice due to breastfeeding issues. He was the only one that didn't discourage me from continuing, he encouraged me to seek lactation and calmed my fears while in the hospital.
