Please take your children somewhere else. They will waaay overcharge you, and if you don't like it, they will tell you that there is no other option and that you are more than welcome to go somewhere else. I took my 3 three year old there and had his fillings done about a year ago. They used Nitrous gas and he did fine. We went back a couple of weeks ago, and he needs to have a couple of small fillings done in the back this time. Doctor Allinder said that he wanted to use "general anesthesia" to do the work. We met with Hannah in the front office, and she informed us that not only would we have to pay for the work when we make the appointment, but that we would also have to put down a $250 retainer just in case it costs more than he estimated. I wasnt happy, but went along anyway. The anesthesiologist that the office uses is not a preferred provider for us, so our medical insurance would not cover any part of the cost. I called and left a message for Hannah after I was told it would cost at least $1700 to do the two small cavities. I said that we could not do the general anesthesia and needed to explore other options, possibly using a "kiddie cocktail" or something less expensive. I waited 4 days and then called Hannah again. She informed me that Dr. Allinder said that was the only option that he would consider. I asked to speak with Dr. Allinder, and I was told He doesnt take phone calls. I was told that there was no way that I could speak with Dr. Allinder regarding my sons treatment plan because he works hard all day and that he doesnt want to waste time on the phone. I found a different dentist.

We have had nothing but great service from Dr. Allinder and staff. I believe the same individual made more than six bad reviews all on the same date, March 20, 2011. It is very easy to create multiple emails and logins for reviews. If you are looking for a children's dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Allinder.

I just have to say I have never seen so many bad things said about this Dr. I am so pleased with his work, friendliness, and staff with all 4 of my children. I have had to change dentist once because I changed insurances and let me tell you what an awful experience is like. Willamette if that??s how you spell it....was horrible, rude, aggressive and downright offensive. I begged my work to change us back to our previous insurance so that my children could return to THEIR dentist. They love going there. They teach our children independence and that they can do thing on their own. I have a step daughter who's mother was inconsistent helping her with oral huygen and Dr. Allinder's office and staff showed her that she can get into her own routine's with her teeth and she didn't have to have her parent tell her when or if she needed to brush. I am proud to tell my friends and family members about this office of caring and kind people and my children love going to visit. I have only once experienced an insurance issue and they were professional and considerate when it came to how the bill would be handled. Thank you James and staff we think your wonderful!

The office is fine, not great, but fine except for their lack of consideration with regard to finances. You literally pay for visits as you exit. You have to pay in advance for procedures. We had two procedures where the aneshtetic was $1500 not to mention our portion of the dental. There is no compassion with regard to finances.I have not encountered a medical office that has such an emphasis on finances and such a lack of cooperation with regard to paying for care. I would reiterate some of the previous reviews; they are financially scrupulous and any psoitive is very diminished by the obvious financial emphasis of the office. You will be expected to pay for the visit either on completion of the routine care or prior to any major procedure.

Always a pleasure to take my children for their dental appointments because they are never frightened or agitated and therefore I am never stressed. The fun mural-ed walls make my kiddies smile and me more than just a little envious. Dr. Allinder is always kind and speaks candidly regarding proposed procedures for my children and his reasons for suggesting them. I appreciate having information like this and my handy itemized estimate to discuss with my spouse before their next appointments. Who knew dentistry could be so painless. Now if only they would see grown-ups too.

I was excited to take my children to a dentist for the 1st time since it was way overdue. The 1st of my children to go was my 4 yr old son who we knew had at least 2 cavities. My husband took him and of course was vague with the details. I took my son to his actual appt and had to sit in the waiting room since I had to bring my 1 yr old daughter. They got him back quickly and it only took about an hour to complete his 1st filling and silver crown. My complaints started to build after he refused to even give my 6 yr old autistic son an x-ray simply because he has autism; he immediately recommended we have him put to sleep so he could do hundreds of dollars worth of work on him. So at my 4 yr olds 2nd appt he knew what to expect and was already scared; only after I had given my son the pills they prescribed that morning and the night before, and he had been put on the gas and numbed with shots did Dr Allinder show his face in our room simply to say we need to stop the appt because my son had started to get a bit scared. He again suggested that we needed to have him put to sleep to complete all his dental work as well. Im now searching for a new dentist that isn't going to try and have my children put to sleep simply because they are scared...

Dr. Allinder and Dr. Shavron are both very kid friendly and welcoming. I brought my 3 kids in for cleaning and exams. The office is totally geared towards kids so mine love to go there. (Makes it hard to threaten them with "eat too much candy and you'll have to go to the dentist!!")
After reading reviews here I was a little apprehensive to make an appt. While everyone has their own opinion, I have to say mine is impressed. I love how the girls talk to my kids on their level, explain everything and treat them like they are special. I give this office 5 stars for a completely positive experience after 2, soon to be 3 visits.

I love the experience from Dr Allinder. The atmosphere is kid friendly and the dental assistants are very kind and nice to our children. The front staff and the back staff are completely different from each other. If the front staff had half the attitude the back staff does then the experience would be amazing!!! I particulary do not care for the appointment lady, who has her own little office. She is so rude and acts like she is above others. I know she has a job to do, but that should include some customer service of at least being friendly or cracking a smile. Instead she looks disgusted and witchy all the time! My children love the back staff, atmosphere, and Dr Allinder, so for that I will not change dentists, but I really wish the whole experience up front would be different.

My son loves Dr. Allinder and his staff. The hygenist's are always smiling and treat my son and myself wonderfully.I have only had to deal with billing once, and that was on his first visit (no problems with them). I have referred many of my friends to Dr. Allinder.

I joined this site just so I could write a review for Dr. Allinder, who I feel is an outstanding children's dentist for both his ability and his heart. He is passionate about his profession, and explained to me once that he decided to become a dentist when he had a broken tooth as a child and had become fascinated by dentistry. I had been to several pediatric dentists in the Atlanta area when my son was small, so I have something to compare to. My son had one tooth that needed a crown when he was 2, which was done in Atlanta. When he was 3, it abcessed and had to be pulled, and then a spacer had to be attached to the neighboring tooth. Thankfully, my son already had a great rapport with Dr. Allinder and his staff and this was accomplished with no trauma at all. My son is now 11 and is never reluctant to go to the dentist, and has also learned to appreciate taking good care of his teeth.

Good place to take your kids for check ups- they are not equipped for special needs children, so maybe find a different dentist. But he's been grea for my children. He accepts TRICARE AND is rigth next to Dr.Smith who is a fabulous adult dentist.

Have been going to Dr Allinder for almost 10 years. He is a great and back staff is great. Front Office has changed over the past year or so. They are not hepful and marginally rude most of the time. Dr A needs to look real close at what's going on or he is going to lose a bunch of patients. Of the now 13 reviews here 8 are negative towards the Staff. That should tell you something.

I lost my job and couldn't afford to finish my Child's dental appointments last year. I got a new job and finally could afford it. My husband took her in and Dr. Allinder was great like always. His staff treated my husband like he was a bad father for not bringing our child in sooner to get her teeth cleaned and sealed. The spoke to him rudely and were very sarcastic. He left that office feeling horrible for no reason. My child doesn't have un-healthy teeth so there was no reason for the attitude. We continue to go to this Dental office because we appreciate Dr. Allinder, as far as his staff they give me a tooth ache..

I have taken my kids to Dr. Allinder for years. They went for a cleaning on 12/1. The office billed the insurance company on record, but it wasn't paid because my husband's company switched plans (thanks for the info, honey!). I called the office with the new insurance information so they could bill it correctly, and they told me they had sent the bill to collection! They said they sent me two notices, but I have never seen a bill. I don't even know how much the bill IS! The staff wouldn't answer the simplest questions, like "how much do I owe you?", or "when did you send it to collection?", or "will you rebill the correct insurance company?". Completely unhelpful. They directed me to the collection agency, who I called. Guess what? It's a sad, sad day when a COLLECTION AGENCY is more courteous then your childrens' dentist office!! The agency didn't even have the bill yet, and she was nice enough to tell me that once it was put in their system it would be on "pre-collect status", directing me to CONTACT MY DENTIST TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY MY BILL, which is what I was trying to do in the FIRST place. We are so outta there...

I have two sons ages 5 and 3 about 2 years ago we started taking our older son to Dr James Allinder in Olympia WA for dentistry. Our older son has enjoyed his experiences with the staff. Our younger son has been able to see some of his appointments to help get him comfortable with the dental experience. Last year in April we had an appointment for our younger son that we were not able to make and so I canceled that appointment. Since then my older son has had several very expensive visits to fix his front teeth. But when I called there today to make an appointment for my younger son they said that I had not canceled the first appointment in April and that because that was to he his first official appointment that they would not be able to schedule him ever. It is their policy that if a patient misses their first appointment then they do not reschedule them. I told them that I understood why they had that policy but that I had canceled that appointment and that we had established ourselves as being reliable with the many times that we had taken our older son there. They said they had no record of my cancellation and that our record with our older son did not matter. They said that we could continue to take our older son there but they would not take our younger son. As anyone with children can tell you familiarity is a big deal to kids and I do not think that it right to ask my younger son to go to a dentist that he is not familiar with. Little brothers want to be like their big brothers and that helps them take some of the big scary steps in life, like dentists, doctors, preschool etc. Now I will have to switch dentists for my older son so that they can go together even though he was quiet comfortable with his dentist. I know it may be their right to make a policy such as that I just don't think that it is right as a business to make it so black and white with no room to look at a situation for what it is. I don't think that they should get away with treating a customer, that has spent so much there already, in this manner

I've been taking my kids to this office for a yr now. (2yr old and 3yr old) they have always been nice. My 3yrd old had to get some teeth removed which i thought would be a nightmare but they where so patient w/ her. She didn't even know what was going on until we showed her her teeth afterwards. They made it fun for my 2yr old and they don't force them to open their mouth. They take it slow for them and they have always been kind to me as well. I have not had any problems with them and plan to continue going there. ill report back if i ever change my mind.

We have had nothing but positive experiences with this office. I have two boys that are under the age three and the staff is always so helpful with our visits so the boys can be seen at the same time. They are very patient with the kids and have never been anything but 100% professional. i would recommend this office to anyone who was looking for a dentist for their children!

I took my daughter there for her first dentist visit. She also needed to have a cavitity repaired. They were somewhat patient with her because she was really scared. I wouldn't say great, just ok. When we went back to have the cavitity repaired, they ended up putting a metal crown on her tooth WITHOUT telling me or consulting me. I was NOT at all pleased with the lack of communication regarding this. They are also unwilling to work out payments with people which I think is unacceptable.

Dr. Allinder and his professional staff provide excellent care for our daughter. Her visits there are always pleasant.

Dr. Allinder's office is conveniently located right off the Yelm highway at Boulevard. It's a clean, modern office set up specifically for kids.

Dr. Allinder's wealth of experience with childrens' dental care and his kind, caring attitude make him an excellent choice.

I have taken my 2 kids to see this dentist for several years also and my autistic son is on a medical coupon as his secondary insurance (we have Cigna) and I forgot to bring it with me once and was told very rudely and flatly that my son could NOT be seen and I would be charged for the failed visit. I made a big fuss and got very angry there in the office as I could not understand why they would be this way, I told them I would fax it out to them the moment I got home and besides, Cigna covered the entire visit before now so why wouldn't they cover it again....???
I finally was told (10 mins later while my daughter was in having her teeth cleaned) that my son could indeed be seen by Dr Allinder. I made it clear to him when I went back there to visit him that I was truly sorry for the lost coupon but would make sure I had it faxed to him as soon as I got home, and I did. He seemed unbothered by it all totally. The attitude and snide comments made to me from his staff however were enough to make your head spin, they were rude and condescending and were very unprofessional in their attitude. Sadly, I will be seeking another dentist now and hope that it's a much friendlier one than Dr Allinders clinic.

I finally was told (10 mins later while my daughter was in having her teeth cleaned) that my son could indeed be seen by Dr Allinder. .

I took my children here for several years and was happy with the fact that they only see children at this office, but I started to notice a bad attitude. When my children had to go on a medical coupon after an employment layoff, I was told that Dr. Allinder chooses not to see these "types of patients". Later, after having to make a cancellation for a family emergency, I was told that if I had two cancellations, Dr. Allinder would no longer be able to see my children. Come on! We are talking dental care for children, not the country club! We moved on to a much better dentist who is always happy to see my children.

PROS: None
CONS: Bad attitude.
