I am writing this review so that a potential patient will be informed before scheduling an appointment that Dr. Jane Schlecker has boundry and ethic and moral issues. She had an inappropriate relationship as well as inappropriate contact with a patient. She misdiagnosed a squamous cell carcinoma, and she is not the best at treating hypoglycemia (low blood sugars). She has been disciplined by the Department of Health and is currently on 3 years probation and has to go for pyschiatric treatment and courses in physician/patient boundries as well as ethics. She is deceitful, and if you can't trust a doctor, then who can you trust. People spend more time reviewing the next car they want to buy then they do reviewing doctors. People it's your LIFE!

Dr. Jane Schlecker was sanctioned by the department of health office of professional medical conduct for inappropriate contact with a PATIENT on more then one ocassion. She is CURRENTLY on 3 years probation and has to see a psychiatrist or therapist and report to Dept. Of Health as to her compliance. She also has/had to take courses in physician/patient boundries and professional ethics. Only 200 doctors out of 6,000 complaints get sanctioned per year. Obviously the D.O.H had a problem with the way she practiced medicine as well!!!! I originally wrote that she was kind, caring and available to her patients. I did not have the knowledge that she would become TOO available in particular in an inappropriate manor. www.health.state.ny.us and select disciplined physicians to see whole sanction. She was also found guilty of billing Medicare for services NOT RENDERED. Wonder why our premiums go up? Perhaps too many doctors are guilty of this as well,
Due to her negligent actions that she plead guilty to, which were inappropriate contact with a patient on more then one ocassion, the New York State Office of the Inspector General had also put her on their exclusion list. This is a very serious consequence. It is the state saying that they are not going to pay for any services provided by or ordered by Dr. Jane Schlecker. This is saying that the state will not pay for a doctor that does not meet the standards of care that patients have a RIGHT to get. Often this is followed by medicare putting a physician on their exclusion list as well. It is customary that both State and Federal monies not be paid for a Doctor/provider that does not meet their standards of care and that they are not willing to stand behind and pay for services provided by this doctor. Follow up reviews will keep patients informed as to if and when she is also exluded from the medicare list. Private insurance companies also have the perogative to exclude Dr. Jane Schlecker as a provider. Should any more exclusions result from her inexcusable actions, be prepared to dig into your pockets to pay for services from Dr. Jane Schlecker. G.H.I perhaps will follow as well.

Honestly I thought she was a really good doctor. As a matter of fact I wrote the first review here. Recent events however make me feel obligated to say that I was mistaken. Her poor judgement and incompetence have caused me much suffering both physically and mentally. I guess the old saying all that glitters isn't gold would apply here. MY advice to people needing an endocrinologist is to look elsewhere.

LISTENS to her patients. Is available whether during office hours or not, knowlegeable and up to date with medicines, side effects, treatments.Encourages patients to ask questions. Makes sufficient time during every appointment for the examination as well as questions and concerns. Will go the extra mile to accomodate patients individual needs, and relieve anxiety. Quick follow-up on test results. Appointments are scheduled and kept so there is never more then a 10-15 wait.
