Based on other reviewers comments I'd hazard a guess that Dr Bateman is losing a lot of customers and trying to make up for the lost income by overscheduling those who are sticking with her..requiring appointments for every little thing. I too was refused 1 yr Rx for meds I've been on for 8 yrs for BP. I was told I needed to have a Liver Function Test every 6 months. Oddly enough she has NEVER ordered this test for me..likely because my meds don't require it from everything I've read. I also found Jerry rude..(I'd use the term nurse loosely in TX since she is probably just a medical assistant as TX doesn't require LICENSED nurses in these positions--SCARY STUFF PEOPLE! I cringe to think of someone with 6 or 12 mos education giving out medications!!)

I love Dr. Bateman and her front office staff. However, today WAS IT for me after dealing with her unbelievably RUDE nurse (Jerry)! I called in to get my prescription renewed and was treated like some type of druggie trying to get narcotics!!!!!!!! She also told me that Dr. Bateman had not written my original prescription--which is untrue--she has bee writing it since 2007 and her name is clearly on my Walgreen's bottle!!!!!!! I apparently was wasting her time trying to explain the situation and she forwarded me to the front desk to make an appt and refused to help me. I am a very tolerant person ( I am married to a surgeon--so have to be patient! LOL!) but I don't like being treated this way and refuse to go back.

I called my OB/GYN and told her nurse the situation and she was more than happy to call in the prescription for me!!!!!!!! It was nice to be treated with a little dignity!!!!! Perhaps Nurse Jerry can take some lessons from this nice nurse!!!!!!!!

Love Dr. Bateman! I've been going to her for 10 years. Once, I had a horrible painful sinus infection. She saw immediately that day. Her staff is caring and friendly. Dr. Bateman has been treating me for high blood pressure for 10 years, and she gives me a 6 month prescription ONCE we got it stabilized. I highly recommend her and the doctors in her office to anyone. If I hear about a new drug or treatment, she is very open. She's the best!

I too had the experience of a rude nurse when I called with a question. I was told that I would have to make an appt to get a name of an oncologist even though I had just seen her and the name she gave me didn't work out.
Another time the girl making the appt told me that I would have to make separtate appts like the other reviewers said. I ended up bringing up everything in my visit but I imagine lots of patients fall for this. Dr Bateman is very nice but I imagine that her office staff is only following directions from her.

Dr. Bateman is very nice, however the rudeness of her nurse outweighs her friendliness. The nurse gives you the 3rd degree about exactly what you're going to tell the doctor, and every time I go (for ongoing Thyroid issues) the nurse tells me that I'm not allowed to talk to the Dr.about more than 2 symptoms (from 1 issue!) because "the Dr. doesn't have time to listen to a 'laundry list' of symptoms" - that's a direct quote, by the way. Also, one time I had an appt scheduled a month in advance, and as it turned out I got sick the day I was supposed to go. I had a sneaking suspision that it was strep-throat, and I had a 5 month old baby at home that I didn't want to make sick. I told the nurse that I was sick, and she told me that I would have to choose whether to speak to Dr. about my illness, or what I already had my appt for, as I could only see her for 1 thing at a time. I'd be required to set another appt to come back. Dr. Bateman eventually helped me with both items, but only because the nurse was so mean that she actually had me in tears. (I TOTALLY agree w/ the previous post that they refuse to provide long term prescriptions, and require you to make appts for every little thing. I have to have appt for bloodwork (shouldn't be necessary!) and then appt for results, and usually come back AGAIN because they STILL haven't gotten it right! They definitely try to get as much $$ as they can!) While Dr. Bateman is nice, she has not been able to help me with my Thyroid issues in over 3 years. Each time I go, they adjust my medications. She seems sincere in wanting to help, but the only thing she can recommend is for me to pay more for the brand name instead of the generic (getting a nice little kick-back from that, I'm sure.) It hasn't made a difference. So, unfortunately her sweet demeanor and "mother-like" bedside manner just isn't enough to overcome the rudeness of her nurse, or the lack of results. My first appt with my new doctor is tomorrow. I'm done.

I have been seeing Dr. Jan Bateman since around 1998 and have enjoyed the personal experience that she provides. She not only treats my illness but also asks about how I, and my family, are doing otherwise. Her only downfall is she is hard to get into when you are sick and would like to be seen that day. Dr. Jackie Snell, who I have seen but I believe is not there anymore, was just as caring, with a little less of the motherly feel Dr. Bateman exudes.

I have been going to this clinic location for about 4 years now. Started out seeing Dr Sharples who was really good, enthusiastic, listened and helpful. However he left about a year ago and now I'm looking for a new doctor. Have seen Dr Bateman several times since then, however, her memory is poor and I find myself repeating my medical history at EVERY visit. You'd think they'd review your chart beforehand to avoid looking stupid!! I've been on the same medication for nearly 6 years, but they insist on you coming in for renewals, and unlike Dr. Sharples will not write 1 yr prescriptions for long term medications. It seems like everytime you call they want you to come in for every little thing. They are $$ seeking and looking to get every nickle and dime out of Blue Cross they can.
