Jeremy and Val are very nice people, and the frames (while really spendy) are interesting and unique. However, the customer service is not good at all. I've been their customer for 3 years now, and even though they take my phone number EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm in the store to call me to follow up on some issue or another, they have NEVER ACTUALLY CALLED ME. I have always had to call them to follow up, or just drop in to the shop to pick up glasses or contacts. They constantly seem to be too preoccupied (new baby, new business venture, whatever) to actually provide the service I need as a customer. In fact, recently I went to try on new frames, and wanted a specific color not in stock. Jeremy said he would order it and call me back when it came in, and that it would take about 2 weeks. I gave him my number (AGAIN) and have been waiting now about 8 weeks. I think I'm going to go somewhere else now, somewhere that the people actually care about keeping my business - this doesn't seem like it.

Excellent care!
At this place, you won't receive the ten-minute shuffle that you get at some of the shops that are mainly interested in earning an exam fee and making a quick sale. The doc is personable and up on the latest in eye care. Love the ambience of an art gallery doubling as the waiting room.

Pros: Great service

Cons: Parking is expensive in this part of town

I have been a patient of Dr. J's for several years. He's a super nice and very competent Optometrist, and he and his wife are fantastic at helping select frames that really look great. They have a selection of frames made by small, unique manufacturers. Yes, some of them are a bit pricey, but there are also plenty that are very reasonable. They work with your insurance and take care of everything.

I also love that the gallery is part of their business - it's so much more personal and interesting than an old stuffy doctor's office.

Once you arrive for your appt., the Dr. and his wife are friendly and helpful, but sometimes it does feel odd walking in, like they are a bit too busy or preoccupied to help. And I agree that the follow through is pretty bad. There have been times when they do not return my call. They never call to tell me my contacts are in, or let me know when I'm due for another appt. There has also been more than one occasion when I have gone to pick up my contacts and mysteriously they are gone and need to be reordered! I would not quit going, but I'm hoping they will improve over time.

Pros: artwork, easy parking, personable staff

Cons: Frames are expensive. Would be nice to offer cheaper options too.

For a doctor's office this establishment has very little to entice the customer back. The follow through for appointment call backs was nonexistent, the glasses selection was sparse and the environment is very cold. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had no phone calls to let me know that my new glasses were ready, nor did the doctor call to inquire how my new contacts were working out for me. I've been to several optometrists throughout my life and this was the worst.

I went browsing and couldn't decide if this place was a gallery or an eyewear place. I guess it is supposed to be both but neither are very good. It is cold and sparse. Sure, some of the frames were off the wall, but they were just filthy!! They all look like they've been sitting around for months! I have no idea why they are still open because every time I walk by, no one seems to be in there. The guy that I TRIED to get to help me seemed more interested in whatever he was doing in the back room than helping me.

Pros: good if you like avant garde art and lots of space

Cons: flippant staff, filthy frames

Look at the second review written for the this place and then look at the Dr's name. Smooth! It's kind of a joke. This place was like a desert inside.

Best looking frames in the Pacific Northwest! And you won't walk out with frames that don't complement your face. I get rave reviews everywhere I go!

Pros: Great selection of high end frames. Exceptional environment to wait for your exam.

Ogle sells some wicked cool glasses. They're in a weird part of the Pearl District that fits snug up against Crack Central (aka Chinatown), so you may not feel very comfortable walking to the storefront--but once you get in, you'll appreciate the journey that much more.

The owner says his focus is to provide imported and highly original frames. To that end he's been successful: check out the wall of deliciously funky frames located near the back of the shop.

PROS: No one will have ever seen what's on your face
CONS: Location is seedy
