Dr. Jick has delivered two of my babies, the most recent being this past week. Throughout both pregnancies, I've found him to be a superb physician. I trusted his medical care for me and my babies, and appreciated his good bedside manner and interpersonal style. Though I know he has a busy practice, I never felt rushed during appointments and he always took time to answer my questions thoroughly.

I get the sense that Dr. Jick takes great pride in the quality of his work, which is evidenced in many little ways in his office, but was most obvious in his taking a few extra minutes to close my incisions from my c-sections with a string instead of staples (referenced as the "Jick String" by some nurses at Huntington Hospital in my post-partum care).

His staff is also top-notch - everyone from the front desk people who greeted me when I signed in, to the ultrasound tech, nurse, and the many others who provide care - they are professional and caring people.

I highly recommend Dr. Jick, and have been grateful for the superior level of care that he has provided me and my family.

The staff is the most incompetent staff I have ever come across. I've been coming here for over a year, and have finally reached the decision to NEVER return.

2 months into my pregnancy I was bleeding I went in and the nurse practitioner insisted that it was normal (which I contend it could have been) but I had a history of miscarriage around this time during pregnancy. So I asked if she could check my progesterone levels, she didn't want to. I had to insist that she do it. I'm the one paying for it so what does she care? Sure enough my progesterone levels were low and I had to go on a supplement, I could have lost my baby! From there on out I didn't trust her and I always insisted on seeing the doctor instead.

I've also ALWAYS had a problem with the receptionists whether it's from how much my co-pay should be, to sending me the bills instead of the insurance company, or not updating my insurance info when it changed and sending it to the wrong company. This caused me much stress and considering that I had a high risk pregnancy it just added more stress than the baby and I needed. The receptionists are rude and careless. There were also several times the doctors would forget to call in prescriptions or forget to give me the prescription so I would have to wait an extra 40min.

The doctors are decent but honestly when the staff is so incompetent it doesn't matter how good the doctor is, it just makes the experience unpleasant. After starting and ending my pregnancy with this doctor and even coming in for a few routine visits, I'm severing ties with this office.

I'm just sick of having a heart attack every time I open a bill from them and wondering why the F*** don't they send it to my insurance company.

Business Response:

No business likes to receive a negative review, but it is much worse when the facts are distorted or wrong, which is the case with this review. Yes, a blood test should have been ordered and the patient had to request it. Yes, we are a busy practice and sometimes that means that a patient has to wait a bit for things like prescriptions. These issues do not deserve a 1* rating. Furthermore, our receptionists are the nicest people I have ever worked with! Patients often complain about their bills. This is universal in the medical profession. This patient spoke to the office manager about being billed by us. It turns out that she did not owe anything and we were not billing her. Other entities were billing her, not us. We contacted those entities and updated their billing information. We help many patients like this and they are usually very grateful (See Yelp!) We went above and beyond in trying to help this patient, and our thanks is a 1* review.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jick's since April 2010. After having a traumatizing experience with another Pasadena doctor, I went to Dr. Jick for confirmation of a suspected pregnancy loss. Since it was my first pregnancy, I was upset and shocked. From the minute we met, he was compassionate, understanding and informative. He counseled me on what had happened and made me at ease. He assured me that everything would be fine. Days later, I will never forget how kind and amazing he was in the surgical room. He never made me feel like he saw this every day but at the same time, he let me know it was fairly common. After the surgery, he talked to my husband and said, "See you in a few months when you are pregnant again!" with a huge smile. He made a sad experience less painful.

A few months later, I was pregnant again and his office immediately brought me in. They handled me with "kid gloves" because of my previous loss, but I know in my heart it was more for my benefit than for medical reasons. They reassured me and helped me through the 1st trimester anxiety. When I encountered a problem, Dr. Jick immediately prescribed meds that after researching, I believe saved this baby and pregnancy. I am now half way through this pregnancy and everything is going great.

Dr. Jick and his staff are amazing. Rachel handles all of the ultrasounds and is one of the most caring people I have met in a Dr's office. His nurses are patient and kind. The entire office knows my name and greets me by name as soon as they see me.

I also visit Marina's Oasis every week for massages to help my pregnancy back pain. Ana is the best massage I have ever received.

I will be going to Dr. Jick for as long as he is in practice. I trust him and actually enjoy going to the Dr now. :)

Dr. Park is my hero. I had a very high-risk pregnancy, and with Dr. Park's help was able to carry my son to 36 weeks, despite hospitalization for preeclampsia. I am also a type 1 diabetic, and with her encouragement and advice I was able to tightly control my blood sugars before and during the pregnancy, resulting in a perfectly healthy baby.
Towards the end of the pregnancy I was seeing her 3-4 times a week for monitoring. Throughout the pregnancy there were several times where I felt hopeless and frustrated, but she was right there next to me cheering me on. After the delivery she told me that she was proud of how hard I worked with my blood sugars to have a healthy baby. That meant the world to me.
At 33 weeks I developed high blood pressure and was hospitalized. She visited me everyday, and also everyday for the four days that I was in the hospital after my c-section.
Dr. Park is not only a highly skilled doctor, but she is also a genuinely kind and wonderful person. She did a great job with my c-section (she uses sutures instead of staples, which really cut down on the pain and scarring). She is a mother herself and has been through all of this, so she really knows what you're going through.
Dr. Park is one-in-a-million.

I love Dr. Jick! I would recommend him to my friends and family. He's kind, smart and makes you feel very comfortable. Downside is that its hard to get an appointment and the wait is a sometimes long, but worth it!

My experience with fair oaks womens health is not a pleasant one. I initally made an appointment with Dr. Chang. I never seen her once! I was given no explanation. The only md I seen there was Dr. Jennifer Parks. My first two months of pregnance was horrible. I was sick 24/7. I could barley keep anything down. I told the NP and Dr. Parks this. Not one of them told me that i had options regrading my "morning sickness" I am so angry. Now, having done research, I realize there are options for women who are sick and cant keep food down. I am pissed off that they never explained this to me. In my opinion, they did me a disservice.

My husband and I felt very comfortable with Dr. Park from the very beginning. She is very easy to talk to and answered our questions and concerns thoroughly. My mother-in-law is a labor and delivery nurse in a different hospital and always wanted to know how the appointments went. Toward the end of my pregnancy I had some issues with elevated blood pressure, swelling and protein in my urine. I kept my mother-in-law informed and she was very comfortable with how Dr. Park was handling it.

On delivery day, after being in labor for about 16 hours, it was determined that I needed to have a c-section. She was very supportive and acknowledged my disappointment. Unfortunately, the baby wasn't dropping, and my water broke 16 hours earlier. Plus I had a small fever. I trusted her judgment completely. A short time later our little boy was born.

The following days in the hospital were long and hard at times. Dr. Park visited me every day to see how I was healing and how I was doing in general. It's really great that the office is so close.

I would highly recommend Dr. Park. The staff at Fair Oaks Women's Health are fantastic. They are easy to talk to and willing to answer your questions. You don't get the feeling that you are putting them out. It's nice to have the sonogram and blood work all in the same office. We never needed to make additional appointments or trips. It is a one stop office that handles all of your OB needs.

We look forward to starting the journey with them again with our next child down the road.

Dr Jick is fantastic! I have been going to Dr. Jick for 10 years and was fortunate enough to have him as my doctor for my high risk pregnancy. I had a healthy baby boy at the ripe old age of 42 years old and could not be happier with the care I received from Dr. Jick and Fair Oaks Women's Health. I have also seen Dr. Park and Dr. Chang and they are top notch too. Another plus is a beauriful new office space right across the street from Huntington Memorial Hospital.

I am so thankful to Dr. Park and her wonderful staff. She helped bring our baby to term and he is here happy and healthy. I had lost total confidence in my old ob-gyn after losing my daughter at full term and two miscarriages. Fortunately a friend recommended Fair Oaks Womens Health to me when I became pregnant again. I received great care from Dr. Park. She was always caring, understanding, and comforting and took more than enough time with me during every office visit. I have had such a positive experience and look forward to Dr. Park and the staff at Fair Oaks to care for me and my future pregnancies and health needs.

When I first visited Fair Oaks Women's Health I was a patient of Dr. Chang. I was going just for a "check up" and for a "let's get pregnant!" information visit. I really liked Dr. Chang upon meeting her - she was very nice and took the time to answer all my questions. A few months later when I discovered I was pregnant Dr. Chang was on maternity leave herself so I started seeing Dr. Park.

At first I was disappointed that I had to change doctors but that went away as soon as I met Dr. Park. She was also extremely kind and took the time to answer all my questions. I NEVER felt rushed during an appointment and I felt like I was her most important patient at all times. What I like MOST about Dr. Park is her demeanor - she is always calm and collected. I knew this was the kind of doctor I needed in the delivery room since I can be very emotional.

Likewise the office staff is extremely professional and I never waited long for an appointment. I think there was ONE time I had to wait a bit but the receptionist apologized and explained the reason for the wait. The phones are always answered promptly and I can always get an appointment when needed.

The nurses and ultrasound tech are also outstanding. I can tell they really like their work and care about patients. When I've had to call with a question the nurses always answer promptly or call back shortly and put my mind at ease.

All in all I highly recommend Fair Oaks Women's Health. I have ZERO complaints about the staff or the facility.

I hightly recommend Dr. Jennie Chang. I was refer from my primary Dr. to this office when Dr. Lewen was their, and have been going their over 6 years. The old office was nice and the receptionist, nurses & x-ray personal! are the best.

Now for the new location is out of this world!!!

Both Dr. Jick and Dr. Chang are wonderful! Dr. Chang is my primary OBGYN and delivered my daughter naturally after a very loong and precarious labor. I have also seen Dr. Jick a few times and he is very good as mentioned in other reviews his wealth of knowledge and bedside manner are unmatched even though he wasn't my regular dr. but I felt super comfortable. I have not been to the new office but the old office was suitable I am a neat freak and never noticed a filthy carpet and even when pregnant always felt the waiting room was comfy. As far as the receptionist being short I never noticed this and remember this is a busy practice and one should not expect to get a same day appointment be reasonable. The office has always scheduled me for my appointments in a timely manner and I highly recommend this office and will no doubt have Dr. Chang deliver my future babies.

Dr. Jick and his staff are great! I highly recommend him to anyone even if you have a concern about having a male OBGYN. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and he takes the time to learn about you. He has a great bedside manner and I feel extremely comfortable with him. He is not all business either. He takes the time to learn not only about your medical history, but has a genuine compassion and interest in you as a person.
I was recommended to Dr. Jick by my primary care Dr. Grigorian (also great!) because an ultrasound uncovered a very large (10cm) complex mass on my right ovary. Certain for the worst, I met with Dr. Jick and many of my concerns were alleviated. Due to his many years and knowledge in the area G & O he knew exactly what the issue was and had a game plan right up front. I had a dermoid cyst that needed to be operated on. Not the best news, but he was certain it was not cancer. He was patient with me and took the time to explain exactly what I had and exactly what he needed to do. His approach is very conservative because he wants the absolute best for his patience and therefore just because the latest and greatest is out there he is only going to recommend what is best for his patience, not what is best for his practice. I had never had a major surgery like this in my life and I wanted to be absolutely certain it was medically necessary before I decided on the surgery. So Dr. Jick recommended I seek out a second opinion before I make my decision. I met with a very well known OBGYN recommended by the number 2 trauma hospital in CA. She also said surgery was inevitable however they had 2 different approaches. Dr. Jick said due the nature of this cyst I would recommend a minilaporatomy because it gives him more flexibility and certainty of removing the entire cyst so it will not grow back. Besides, there was a chance that he may have to take the ovary as well. The 2nd opinion was start with laproscopy, less evasive, which means less recovery time, but not best for the size or complexity of my cyst. Then if need be (she was not sure what to expect til she opens me up) change to minilaporatomy. She recommended removing it in chunks (which she had done with patients before), not good because more risk that pieces could be left. If my cyst was mostly fluid filled then it could have been drained and removed laproscopically, but it wasn't. Dermoid's usually are not, so that concerned me right off the bat that this very well known respected Dr. would suggest such a thing.

What really impressed me about Dr. Jick was that he took the time to meet me in his office (not patient room) for a 2nd visit so we could go over the procedure in more detail and so my Fiance at the time, now husband could meet him and feel comfortable with him as well. He also did his best to fit me in his surgery schedule before my wedding so I had enough time to heal. When I was told I needed surgery, there was only 12 wks before my wedding day and I needed time to recovery. I had plenty of time to recovery and the wedding was amazing, no medical complications at all! Also Michelle the office manager handled all the paperwork for me to be out of work for 6 weeks to recover from surgery and file my paperwork with the State for Disability pay. She made it all a breeze!
Needless to say, I chose Dr. Jick even though his surgery was going to have a longer recovery time because of his knowledge about dermoid cysts and the type of surgery appropriate for the removal of the cyst. He was very upfront and honest and I knew exactly what to expect after my surgery. I am very happy with the results, I am cyst free, I healed well with minimal scaring and I am mostly (it??s only been 10wks so I am still healing and a bit tender) back to my normal active life thanks to Dr. Jick.
If I am still living in CA when I decide to have children I am definitely going to Dr. Jick and for the time being I will use him as my regular OBGYN.

I started seeing Dr. Jennie Chang in this office this year because it was hard to talk to my last OB/GYN about anything. Dr. Chang is great - she's attentive, knowledgeable, and very caring. She's got a great bedside manner. I recently got pregnant for the first time, and she and her staff have been so helpful and reassuring. I called in with concerns early on, and after speaking to a nurse there, I was given a same-day appointment to have things checked out. When I went to see her, she remembered details of my last appointment 6 months prior and followed up on some of my questions that she answered. Rachel, the ultrasound technician, is awesome.

The only negative of the office is that the receptionist that answers the phone has a tendency of being short on the phone, to the point of being rude. She says all the right things but in a brusque manner, and since everyone in the office is really nice in person, I think she just needs more phone training.

I have been to a few appointments with Dr. Jennie Chang at Dr Jick's office. I feel she is very professional and pleasant, also very knowledgeable.
The appointment system at the office is not very nice as it takes an unreasonably long time to get in to see the doctor. Also, the office staff, specifically the lady who makes the appointments is quite unpleasant, up to the extent of being rude.
The office, though alright inside is not very nice at the reception area. They really need to do some work on this area as it gives the wrong impression of the whole place. The furniture is worn and the carpet is quite filthy.

Takes well over half a year of waiting to get to the first appointment. Inflexible and rude stuff. The worst doctors office I have seen. I wish I have not wasted more than half a year of trying for the baby to wating for this appointment.

I am currently under Dr. Jick's care. Dr. Jick was highly recommended to me from several people. I hear he specializes in fertility issues and multiples although I fell in neither category and have been having a routine pregnancy. He has been great so far during this (my second) pregnancy. He has a calm demeanor and the office staff is friendly. His practice seems to balance just the right amount of care (e.g. # of ultrasounds) without being either too cautious or too relaxed. I hear that Dr. Lewen has left the practice so if you're looking for a woman OB, I don't think there is one associated with their office anymore. Dr. Jick's wife offers facials and other skin care treaments in the office as well but I have not tried any of those services.

PROS: Friendly, competent care; nice staff
CONS: Doesn't take HMO insurance
