Dr Stanley works at the torrington office of opticare. He is a nice guy, but his exams feel more like a sales pitch than a medical visit! Throughout the exam I was being mickle and dimed into buying upgraded exam features like photos of the back of my eyes. I was there for an exam, not to buy a new car!

The sales pitch continued as I finished my exam and was directed to an area to buy glasses. Dr Stanley told me the change in my glasses was very small, but he recommended I get something new, so I spoke with one of the opticians??? and she began telling to add things into my glasses without even explaining what she was doing. By the time she was done my glasses would have cost me 1200 dollars!

I told her I only wanted what my insurance would cover, and she told me I was wasting her time and there were other people waiting - yes those are her exact words. I finally spoke with someone else there and they found a pair of glasses that fit within what my insurance allowed. I ordered them paid my copays and then waited 2 weeks for the glasses.

After 2 weeks I called and asked if my glasses were ready yet, and I was told there was no record of me ordering glasses!?!? Furious I brought them my receipt, and the girl at the frot desk said they would look into it. They ultimately found my order and said it was going to "take another week".

In a week they called to let me know my glasses were in so I picked them up, they attempted to adjust them, but did a poor job. I was told that was the best they are going to get and that the poor fit was my fault because I wanted something that my insurance would cover.

I will never go back to this office or any other opticare locations, and I hope you never do either. It is not a doctors office, it is a tiny shopping mall filled with rude staff! If I could give zero stars I would.
