I went to Dr. Jopling on the recommendation of a co-worker. I was quoted a price with print out for work to be done showing what my portion would be of the bill by Dr. Jopling himself. I elected to have the work done, cavities filled, and paid my portion according to the print out from Dr. Jopling at the front desk to his office staff the day the work was completed. That was two years ago. I have since been harassed by his staff and now sent to collections for a bill they came up with after my work was completed. I have called 15-20 times over the past two years to get this resolved and each time was told Dr. Jopling is busy, out of town, will be calling you to resolve this issue but a phone call never came despite the office staff's repeated reassurance until on my final call I was told he would absorb the cost as it was his mistake. I was relieved and impressed that they had chosen to do the right thing. Imagine my surprise and disappointment I then received a nasty letter from his office demanding payment on this supposed "overdue balance due". I replied to his office staff by a letter that I have been told repeatedly Dr. Jopling himself would call me to resolve this issue as it was his mistake on the bill but had not received a call to date. I asked that either he call me to work something out or they stop harassing me. That was two months ago and today I received a collections letter including a $25 collection fee and $125 in interest!!!! This is deplorable and I would never recommend this dentist office to anyone. I don't know if this was a scam or just incredibly BAD customer service but I have never dealt with anything like this. I was explicitly told one thing then billed for another, I attempted multiple times to speak to Dr. Jopling and get this resolved but he always seemed too busy and now I have a rather large bill from a collection agency based on their mistake. It is just a huge disappointment because he seemed like a good person. I don't know if this action is from him or his staff but it was his responsibility to make it right and either way he chose not to and left me with a bill I can't afford to pay. All I know is that if I knew then what I know now I NEVER would have elected to have the work done and maybe that was the whole idea...? Oh, I failed to mention my co-worker went through EXACTLY the same thing only she finally gave up and just paid the new bill rather than deal with the harassment. I had faith that if I kept in contact with the office staff that Dr. Jopling would do as they promised he would and call me to resolve the billing issue. My misplaced faith that they would do the right thing has so far increased my bill by $150.00.
