I would not recommend Dr. Brink. Especially, for children with anxiety. To put it best, it was an odd experience as his interaction with my child seemed to be more of a war of wills between two children rather than a firm and patient adult addressing a distressed child. I understand it can be stressful dealing with anxious children, but one should consider that before entering this field. I was also concerned about the agressive recommendations he made for my child's care. Years ago, the media brought attention to the overuse of metal caps as a measure of prevention in children with medicaid. The thoughts were that dentists were doing this for profit. I do not have medicaid, but certainly got the feeling just the same as he recommended stainless steel caps on my childs as a means of prevention. The arguement was that if he was difficult, we should knock-out as much as possible in one treatment while he is sedated. No thanks. Let us treat problems, not aggressively address non-existant problems. Children grow and evolve rapidly and I do not forsee the same behavior problems presenting themselves in the near enough future to merit such drastic "prevention." So yes, I left feeling like profits were the ultimate driving force in a practice with a D.D.S. that is not very patient with the little anxious tots. That seems to be supported by not only his behavior during our session, but also the patience he lacked by not wishing to stick with problems specifically as they arise.

I do wish to commend the hygenists. I commend them for their upbeat attitude and their patience and warmth. They were wonderful.

Dr. Brink put caps on my son with down syndrome. At the time he was 5. My son was crying all the time and would not let us brush his teeth. When we did all they would do is bleed. We went back to Dr. Brink several times only to be told his gums has not adjusted to the caps. It just got worse. We went to a dentist in Brentwwod Tn. and she had to remove all the caps and teeth because of infection. My son went through hell until we saw this dentist in Brentwood. I would not use Dr. Brink every again, and would tell other families to find another dentist!
