I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. She was cold, manipulative and rude. She wanted me to induce with an unfavorable cervix for a reason that couldn't be verified, which is bad enough, but rather than just giving me the information I needed to make an informed decision, she kept whispering "dead baby" after every sentence. She claimed that she wanted me to have all the information and facts available to me, but never once mentioned the risks of induction, especially in first time mothers with an unfavorable cervix. I told her I would not make such an important decision without first speaking to my husband. She told me "How would you feel if you didn't induce right now because your husband is at work......and your baby DIED?" I had been in the office for 2 hours, had 3 ultrasounds because she wasn't happy with the first 2 and she tried to pressure me into staying there til I made a decision. I hadn't slept much, so I decided if I was going to induce I needed some rest to handle it. She told me I could rest after they induce me at the hospital (yeah right). How would I feel if I was so selfish as to take a nap... and my baby DIED! My AFI was 4.5. They want it to be at least 5, but it can vary. The concerns are cord compression, but the fetal monitoring showed no distress and the largest fluid pockets were around the cord, they just can't count that in their measurement, and insufficient placenta, but the baby was growing. All she did was upset me and probably delay my labor further. The ACOG has a study that shows AFI is not an accurate predictor of actual amniotic fluid. Anyway, I went home, went into labor on my own, had what my doc called "abundant fluid" when she broke my water, a huge lush placenta and a successful vaginal, unmedicated birth of an over 8 1/2 lb baby. If it had been up to her and some of the other Kaiser docs, I would have had a C-section a few weeks ago.

Everyone has their opinion of Kaiser Permanente, mine is a good one. I first found Dr. Gottesfeld by a recommendation from a friend. Dr. Gottesfeld has always been great. She is friendly and timely. She doesn't make you feel rushed and is a good listener. I have appreciated the care she has given to me. Thank you.
