As a learning clinician in the field, I am continually impressed with Marian Joycechild both as a seasoned psychoanalyst and human being. She is incredibly well versed in psychotherapy with children and extremely competent in areas of severe struggle with adult clients. This is one woman who will fearlessly travel with you on a journey of personal exploration and discovery, where you will not feel judged. I have never been in personal therapy with Dr. Joycechild, however I do believe that she is a gem in the field and an excellent choice of therapist for those seeking in-depth treatment.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Marion Joycechild for the last four years, throughout which she has held several different roles in my life including professor, consultant and mentor. What has remained consistent within each role are the warm and thoughtful ways she conducts her work. Her extensive experience combined with her gentle manner create a safe space from which to learn, explore, and reflect. There is a certain openness about Marion that outlines her work and makes speaking about difficult things more tolerable. I imagine Marion to be an excellent therapist and analyst and would recommend her to anyone.

I would recommend her to anyone. Great with children and adults. In fact, I found this page because I'm preparing to give her number to very good friends of mine.

I would like to give Dr. Marian Joycechild my highest of recommendations. To me she has been a teacher, an advisor, and a supervisor. Besides being a bright, insightful, intuitive person, she is also someone who very obviously cares deeply about people and the human condition. She is an active empathic listener with amazing depth. She is a life long learner who continues to educate herself within the intellectually demanding field of psychology. I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever recommending her for anyone who is looking for a wonderful therapist in the Bay Area.

I have been a student and supervisee of Marian Joycechild for the last three years, and I find her to be a remarkably compassionate, lovely professional woman. Imagining her with her clients, I feel that they are lucky to be working with someone as smart and receptive as Dr. Joycechild. Dr. Joycechild has a quiet presence, which at first made me self conscious, but I very quickly learned that she is completely open to any conflict or emotion I choose to express. I see her as gentle and thoughtful as well as progressive and sharp in wit. Dr. Joycechild is wonderfully culturally competent in her work, displaying a true understanding for marginalization and mental illness, as well as the existential delemas that we all face in this difficult world. I trust her and would like to use this space to recomend her as a teacher, therapist, and supervisor.

Marian Joycechild, she now calls herself a doctor. I was a client of her's and she basically thought she was God. the biggest mistake I made was not reporting her to the boardand also getting a restraining order on her. She is unethical to say the least. I understand she is now practicing/deceiving in the East Bay.

1. she required me to pay for sessions that I did not attend. I was required(by her) to have an appointment once a week from her. It was not that I no showed an appointment, it was when I went on vacation and let her know weeks in advance that I would be out of town. She still required me to pay for those sessions even though I gave her advance notice and would be out of town. I look back on that and think how stupid I was to let this piece of sh it run my life like I did.

2. It was ok for her to cancel on me at a moments notice and go on vacation but it was not ok for me to go on vacation and miss a few sessions without paying her for the sessions I was gone.

3. I finally realized that this woman was controlling me. So I decided to quit seeing her. That is when I finally realized that she was one sick puppy. She continued to harass me by phone calls wanting me to come in and discuss with her why I was leaving. I told her I would be happy to do that, but I would not pay for a session. She said, "but I would need to pay for the session" she continued to call me and wanted me to come in and discuss this but again pay for the session. She also continued to bill me for this session which I told her I was not coming in. After months of her harassing me, I finally told her that I not only was going to report her to the board, I was also going to get a restraining order against her. Once I told her this the harassment stopped. I blame myself for this mess and not standing up to this freak.

Stay away from her is all I can say. She needed help. I hope she got it.
