Making the right connection

When we first got to NC we knew nobody but, we knew austsm.
As we ventured into school and community we found out we were
in trouble. We needed a pediatrician who could "see" the autism with us. Someone who had the background and love of special children. Someone who knew what tests to do and how to listen to us tell about son's pain, regression, and progress over and over. We needed someone help break this cycle and stay in the progress zone. We found that somone in Dr. Karen Harum. Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician, Special Clinic for Special Children. A great Dr. to have in your child's corner.
She has gone with us through good, bad and some very bad, moments that mean the world to us. Will has grown up knowing she cares and loves telling her about his games and game systems and telling her how he feels. Her gentle voice , her slow, friendly, and assuring touch is always there for Will.
Often times regular Pediatricians don't know autism but, they are seeing more each day and we hope they will embrace the committment to special need children and finding out what makes them feel so bad and help them feel better like Dr. Karen Harum. Finding the problems and connecting them to the symptoms is such a moment of awe and then to treat him and see him get better is as good as it gets.
She is brought him so far from the beginning of our journey together. Her integrity and medical expertise, along with her love of the children and what she does for them can never be measured in it's vastness.
Thank you Dr. Harum for all you do for Will and all the children and their families who come to you for help.
