Dr. Hickman was provided a report from a psychologist in her office for my 6 year old son. The report suggested a possibility of an emotional disorder or mental illness but did not diagnose him with anything at the time. She insisted from then on that he had bipolar disorder and treated him as such. When the medications were not working and sending him into a depression I asked if there was a possibility of it being simply ADHD. She immediately rejected this diagnosis and refused to treat him unless we were going to treat him for bipolar disorder. We have since seen Dr. O'Malley who was fantastic and immediately diagnosed him with ADHD, put him on ritalin and my son has been doing amazing ever since! I feel that this Dr. has tunnel vision when it comes to this diagnosis and is leans too much into the bipolar diagnosis camp even though it has been proven that this is a very difficult disorder to diagnose in children. Please seek other opinions if you receive a diagnosis from this doctor. Not to mention she charges us $125 for a phone consultation to see how he was doing when she was the one who called us without request from us.
Also, we waited for over an hour for an appt we had that was supposed to last 1.5 hours and we were told we only had the 30 minutes left but would have to pay the full fee!
