I chose Dr. Campbell because she was a graduate of my alma mater. This was my first mistake. When I became pregnant, I began going to Dr. Campbell. I always waited over an hour for a 5-minute visit. She was rude and cold. I was in the process of searching for a new Ob, when I began having cramps and spotting. I scheduled an appointment and she told me that it was common and if I wanted her to 'check me out' I would have to hurry because she had to pick up her daughter. Once she checked, she found that I was dilated and in preterm labor. I went straight to Washington Adventist Hospital for what would be 10 days of hell. I was put on bed rest and barely saw her. During this time, I kept bleeding profusely. Even though I told nurses, they did nothing about it. On the 10th day, I began to feel myself going into labor and asked nurses to call Campbell. When she arrived, she appeared angry that I had asked her to come. She then tried to deliver my baby, feet first! I was not fully dilated so she could not get the baby out and her head got stuck. Dr. Campbell pulled and tugged and even had the audacity to suck her teeth when I cried!! After about 30 minutes she plopped the baby down and said she had plans and needed to leave!! At this point, I was so shocked that I did not know what to do. Finally, I was given pitocin and pain medicine. I was so drugged that I began to laugh. She was long gone. After the baby was finally delivered stillborn by nurses, she did not even return to make sure that I was healthy and intact. Unaware that my medicine had not worn off, I asked to use the restroom and the nurses let me go UNASSISTED. I passed out twice! The next day Dr. Campbell returned and said, "I heard you passed out". She would not even discuss what had happened with me. To this day, I will never forget how that woman treated me. I spent years feeling that I was tainted, unhealthy, and afraid of medical professionals. I am just happy to be alive from this whole ordeal. I now have a beautiful daughter that I cherish. When I told my new OB about this ordeal, his mouth just hung open. He went out of his way to make sure that I was treated with respect, dignity and care. Now I know how doctors SHOULD treat people. My baby and I are happy and healthy. I wish I had known about Dr. Campbell before this or I would probably have TWO beautiful daughters today. R.I.P. Zora Shavaun 1/12/2007

I have been seeing Dr Campbell as my Gynecologist for over 3 years. Always felt like I had to wait a bit long for her to finally come to my attention, however I just thought it was the nature of the game. She is not the most friendly or personable individual, doesn't even remember who you are maybe b/c she has many clients but as a person who never forgets a face and rarely forgets a name, I don't care to make excuses for someone to barely grunts good morning to a "stranger" who happens to be a patient for at least 3yrs as we caught the elevator up to the office since we arrived at the building the same time. I think she only noticed I was coming to her since I was following her through her office door. Nevertheless she does seem to know her stuff, take it very seriously and will tell you directly what's happening. However, in my experience I noticed that she is often quick to highlight the negative and make things seem like there is little or no hope. One abnormal papsmear after 3yrs and she was already recommending surgery!! hello....abnormal papsmears happen okay, let's do a couple more tests first before sending me to the knife! I don't particularly care for her bedside manner and after my last visit where i sat naked, wrapped in paper in the freezing room for close to an hour before she finally came to see me, I realized that this doctor is just not for me.
In terms of knowledge and ability Dr Campbell appears to be good at what she does, but I also want to feel comfortable when I visit a doctor especially one in a specialty such as Gynecology and I am definitely not happy with that office or my practicioner. I am currently looking for a new GYN.

Dr. Campbell-Arrendell is just not that friendly. She is blunt so if you are looking for a blunt doctor she should be your choice. She's sort of cold and never remembers who you are because she has so many patients. I'm currently in the process of trying to switch doctors, because I just cannot handle her any more. I did try though.
