I take this opportunity to summarize my experience with the peripheral neuropathy treatment administered in Dr. Kohli's office. I had the series of injections and electro-therapy in 2012, with treatment completing in June 2012. Prior

How lucky I am to have found Dr. Kohli. She is so caring, calming and intelligent. She explains every aspect of our condition in a way that makes it understandable. She never fails at smiling and making my whole family feel like

In June this year i was down with a strep throat and felt miserable. This was the first time in three years that I was looking for a doctor in Austin, TX. I managed to get an appointment at Dr Nandini Kohli's office at a short notice which was good. However, everything after reserving my spot was miserable! Here it goes...

Was feeling weak since i could not eat or drink for a couple of days. Somehow managed to reach the doctor's office 15 mins before the appointment. There was no patient in the reception lobby. I walked to the reception counter and after waiting for about 2 mins (which felt like a long time) the receptionist cared to look - away from the computer screen - at me. I told her about my appointment and she gave me a bulk load of documentation to fill. I sat in the lobby and started with the paper work. While doing so i had a look around the office to see flyers for promotion of different procedures and discounts stuck on the walls. It felt like a cheap massage parlor! I was hurt to see a noble profession converted into a money making business. I know it is a business, but be subtle about it!

Anyways, once i submitted the document, i was asked to wait until called. I took my seat and waited. It took about 20 mins for a nurse to call my name. It was 35 mins since i entered the office by then. I was taken into an examination room where the assistant did the routine BP and other check. She also took a strep sample from my mouth which was a bad experience. While she left, i was told that the doctor would see me soon.

It took 25 mins (1:05 mins after i walked in) for me to loose my patience to call for an assistant to check on the doctor. After about 8 to 10 mins (1:15 mins after i walked in) of additional waiting, there she walks in!

I was surprised to she her! I had expected an Indian, but the female who walked in looked more white than indian! And then, the best part! She introduces herself as a nurse practitioner who would attend me as the doctor is busy. I was so furious at that time and hated myself for picking this place. She fooled around for 10 mins and gave me a prescription of a drug.

No offence, but when i want to see a doctor, i want a doctor! If you can't attend, please do not accept appointments! I did not even get a glimpse of the doctor. She is like a phantom to me!

I did not bother to complain and was ready to leave. When i was at the door, it struck me that they had not charged me the deductible. I went to the receptionist, who was like, "what do you want now ?" attitude. I told her about the deductible. Rather being nice she was thankless and just charged me for it. Whatever!

So i took the medication for 10 days. I was warned by the nurse that i may have a few loose stools but she never told me that those loose stools will continue for a month! I am not inflating my time line. It took me 30 days to come back to my regular motion.

I had decided to write a review as soon as i left the office but did not want to give a knee-jerk reaction. Took two months to get over it in order to provide an objective review.

Good luck to those who end up at Dr Nandini Kohli's office!

Please feel free to reach me for any questions. Will be happy to answer those!

I like Dr. Nandini Kohli. I think she is concerned. The only problem is perhaps an overbooking problem in that I have to wait too long to see her.

My experience was not good. She was very good in my first visit but was very rude in the follow up visits. I was waiting for nearly 1hr and 45 mins before she attended me. I am not going to her again. When my husband asked the nurse why was it taking 2 hrs, Dr. Kohli told me (in her exact words) "Tell your husband that I did not kil* you" !!

She also pushed for many things that i never need .... be aware .....

HORRIBLE!!!! She is the most unprofessional doctor I have ever seen or dealt with. I had her as my PCP till last year and she spent 5 minutes doing the check up and 20 minutes chit-chatting about other things. Rather than Typing at her time, she would start typing with the patient and waster additional 15 mins doing so.

I also had a terrible experience with her Beauty and wellness clinic. I went to her to get laser treatments done and spent close to $2000. After almost 7 months and that much money later, I did not see any results..nada. I understand that it is not a guarnatee hair removal method but atleast some hair reduction should have been expected.

When I went back to her to ask her about it and see if she was willing to compensate me for it but giving me other treatments. She completey refused to help in any way and blamed it on my hormones. Seriously, are you kidding me??

Anyway, DO NOT GO TO HER. Check other reviews on other websites that say the same thing about her on other checkups like immigrations health checks etc. She is a very unprofessional and in my opinion completely uninformative doctor.

Dr. Nandini's diagnosis is always excellent. She spends time with me explaining my situation and the reason behind the prescriptions and / or tests. I have found my general health to have improved since signing up under her care. I highly recommend her. I haven't had any problems with unnecessary and expensive tests as yet, but will be careful going forward based on other's reviews.

I do not recommend her at all. I am 60 years old and I asked her if she was going to check my prostate and she told me that her fingers are too small. Then, she told me that if I do not use my insurance she would charge me $90 but I have a $20 copay so I used that. Since I used my insurance she charged $240 and my insurance said that they would not pay that much for a checkup. Then, I saw a sign in her office that said $35 flu shot. That was a little bit more then most places (HEB was only $25); however, I was already there and she was my doctor so I did not mind. But when I recieved the bill she charged me $35 for the shot and another $35 administration fee. Also, I wanted to stop smoking so I asked her if she would prescribe me medication to help; entead of encouraging me she said that I would not be able to stop smoking because I had an "addictive personality." It has been 22 months since I have stopped smoking and I did not appreciate her discouraging me. I have switched doctors and I do not reccomend her at all!!

I completely agree with the previous negative reviews. I went there for an immigration physical.
I am employed and I have insurance, so I requested if I can have any test done by my personal care provider.
They refused, and said they need to do things themselves (?), and it will cost ~$200 for the exam and TB screening. Once the exam was done she further requested an hepatitis B test to check for antibodies. That's $80 extra. Then she said the results didn't show enough antibodies, so she wanted me to get a series of three vaccines, another $250. I have asked her specifically if she had a medical concern, because I could go back to my doctor and have the shot done. She said no medical concern at her end ... I guess she just wanted to pad her pocket.
Bottom line: stay away. I believe she can't find legitimate patients, probably for good reasons, and tries to make money through unnecessary and expensive tests and vaccines.

Pros: They're in a good location

Cons: You'll pay more than you've bargain for

I completely agree with the previous review. Me and my wife also went there for an immigration medical. Between the two of us, we were RIPPED OFF for an amout of $1700 (Normal amout is between $300 and $600 for TWO FOLKS).

We got stuck with 7 needles EACH (6 Vaccines and a bl*od test), which was RIDICULOUS!! I specifically ASKED BEFORE scheduling the appointment on how much they would cost, and THEY WOULD NOT DISCLOSE THE INFORMATION!

Several of the vaccines were NOT a requirement, which I learnt after the test.....

I believe in karma, and feel rest assured that they will not be able to get away with this rampant atrocity!!

I thank citysearch for being able to complain abt this, and STRONGLY recommend folks to avoid this place at any cost.

Pros: Are for the Doctor/Hospital, who swindled us!

Cons: Are for us, when we got ripped off on $1700!

We went for immigration medical exam. She is collecting money by giving vaccines which are not necessary at all. Instead of paying around 300 dollars, we ended up paying around 700 dollars for each. Without knowing it I have referred 2 friends and they also faced the same problem. Just want to share my experience.

Pros: None

Cons: So Many

I have been seeing Dr Kohli for more than two years. I have found her to be very compassionate and informative. She does spend time with her patients to gather information on their daily lives so that she can better understand what may be creating possible problems in their systems. This can lead to back ups in the waiting room. I have recommended her to my sons as their personal physician and they also like her as well, finding her to be very thorough. It is important to connect and trust your doctor, this is something I can do with Dr Kohli without reservation.

Pros: Magazines are up to date, clean, staff is friendly, doctor is terrific

Cons: Wait time could be improved as with most doctors

.

Definitely not recommended. On several occasions she has "forgotten" to tell us of the nasty side effects of the meds she prescribed; leading to follow up visits where she dismissively remembers to tell you (once you've paid the fees and wasted your time visiting and waiting of course).
We've had 8 AM "emergency" appointments where she doesn't show up until 9:15, and her staff is up in your face when you are 5 minutes late. She diagnosed a friend of mine with Asthama when all he had was plain cough; prescribed inhalers and what not leading to other complications.
If you visit her, be prepared to wait a while.
I'm staying away from this quack.

PS: This is the first negative feedback I've ever written. Their attitude there was so bad that I just had to do this.

Dr. Kohli is my elderly mother's doctor and she has done a great job of diagnosing her and referring her to the right specialists when needed. Her treatment has always been first rate. She treats with respect and compassion but doesn't get mushy. The only complaint I have is sometimes having to wait a long time to be seen but other than that she's done a great job. Her staff is friendly and understanding and helpful, too. I really like my own do and wouldn't want to switch but mine retired, Kolhi would be my choice.
