We were patients of Dr. handley's for 3 years while we lived in Southshore and switched doctors out of convenience after moving 25 miles away to Pearland's Silverlake area. Now my wife is talking about going back to him in spite of how far it is to drive. Here is why:#1) He actually takes the time to do a good job with each patient. The other bigger clinics (like Kelsey Sebold and Baylor) we went to before and after Dr. Handley make you feel like cattle being hearded around and the docs and nurses seem to begrudge event spending 10 minutes with you because they are trying to meet their quota of 40+ patients for the day... and are paid by how many people they see. I've had Dr. Handley spend 30+ minutes with us on a single visit before when my wife had something a bit complicated.#2) You can actually get in to see him in less than 1 week, usually even the same day or next day. The other places either you have to wait for 2 weeks to see your preferred doctor (by which time you are either better or in the hospital) or have to see whomever can work you into their schedule... if anyone can work you into their schedule.#3) His care is excellent. My wife went for almost 5 years with a persistent set of symptoms bothering her - nothing life threatening, but definitely impacted here job and quality of life. We had asked 5 or 6 other doctors about it... most tried to blame it on her being a little over weight without running any tests (it is completely unrelated to that), the couple who ran tests either did the wrong ones or misread the results and did not try again and called it up as something she would "just have to live with"..... Dr. Handley had it diagnosed correctly on the second visit with only a few inexpensive tests. He put her on the right medication and within a week my wife was symptom free and feeling better than she had in years. To this day she has no more problems with it. No one else to the time to care in 5 years.#4) He cares about his patients. He may not remember your name off hand, but heck I can't remember the names of all 160 people who work in my department at the office, much less 3000 people who I see 2-3 times a year on average. He does care though. My wife caught a rather nasty case of bronchitis a few years ago, and we came to see him. She was sick, REAL sick. He was worried about her and actually called out house and checked up on her twice that weekend to make sure the antibiotics and inhaler were helping so that he didn't have to send her to the ER and admit her.... most doctors either wouldn't care enough or would just automatically admit you and run up a huge bill.... he gave the perscriptions enough time to try to work before going that extra expenisve step and took the time over his weekend to call and check in on us and check the progress of her symptoms to make sure she was going to be OK.#5) He is affordable. He works with most insurance and if you don't have insurance (we had a lapse in coverage after I changed jobs and of course that's when we all got sick) he offers you an affordable price you can actually pay. He also gives LOTS of drug samples if he has them, again saving money. When my wife had the weird symptoms, he gave her 2 different things to try and the 2nd worked.... then he gave her 3 months supply in samples.I say he is a darn good doc and I think we will start going back to him. He's worth the drive.

Dr. Handley is one of the worst doctors I've ever seen. I'm not the only one in Seabrook that feels that way. My whole family have been his patients for over ten years, and he still can't remember our names!! If you ask him to diagnos an illness (ie: strep throat, etc.), he always says you just have the "crud". He will never get more specific than that! He really is not interested in his clients. We go to him because you can usually get an appointment on the same day and not wait long. I wouldn't recommend seeing him for anything more than the flu.

I have been going to this office for 6 months. MOST of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The staff is consistent and the referral department is great. Easy to get in same day. They provide excellent patient communication. Dr. Handley is easy going and makes sure you receive proper treatment either by himself or a specialist.

PROS: good staff, quick responses, timely prescription refills
CONS: have to go in for everything- no over the phone treatment.
