I went to this office when I was a child and I now bring my daughter to this office. I love Dr. Soares, and well as Dr. Lally and Dr. Laramee. I feel that Dr. Van (as I called him as a child) is a great diagnostician but sometimes has poor bedside manner he once asked me to 'remove the brown thing' off of my daughter rather than just asking "why don't you undress her down to her diaper?"...Dr. Van diagnosed all of my siblings and I's childhood ailments...
Dr. Soares was reluctant to see my daughter after hours when she was wheezing as I had brought her in earlier that day with just a cold which eventually got much worse ..however once I convinced him, he did see her, and complimented me for my persistence bringing her in and was quick to diagnose her with RSV....Dr. Small has been consistently rude and short for the last 24 years I have gone to that practice, as a patient and parent. My mother and he had an argument when my brother was a teen over HIPPA laws. He has consistently talked down to me. I once brought my daughter there as an infant (I thought she had an ear infection) he slammed the light into my screaming infants ear and said "I know, honey, if your mommy wasn't so paranoid I wouldn't have to hurt you like this."

Long story short, my daughter sees every Dr. except for Dr. Small. (except in a pinch) and hasnt had any problems...infact we are going today! I would recommend this practice!

I have been going to Dover Peds with all 3 of my children for 9 years. My kids have had everything from neonatal seizures, to tubes (twice), ear infections, pooping problems, you name it!
There was a time where I did not like Dr. Small's approach to the trade, but over the years either he has become more sympathetic or I, less concerned, or a combination. I find that, when I have a serious medical problem with one of my children, it is attended to immediately. They do try to approach things holistically and naturally at first which I also have grown to appreciate. Their ancillary staff have been more than helpful during the first few weeks of breastfeeding and sleepless nights. I especially want to note that Dr Vanderzanden is exceptional, and over 9 years remembers myself and all three of my children by name and all my childrens' past ailments, even better than I do at times! Hats off to him.

This is an excellent practice - I have no problems getting an appointment on the same day as calling if necessary and they have 24 hour coverage.
Dr. Lally is wonderful!

Our 12 year old son has been with this group since birth. They have provided him with excellent care, both in the office and in fighting sudden illness at the hospital. Like all people anyone can have a demanding or difficult day that affects their interactions. I know I do, and doctors are no different, so those who harp on a single encounter ought to, in my opinion, look in the mirror. Our overall experiences have been excellent and we can happily recommend this group. They are dedicated and perfessional and highly skilled. They've met us late at night, on sunday's, returned every phone call regardless of the hour. The families of the Dover, NH area are fortunate to have them.

I would suggest staying away from Dover, Pediatrics.
They have a couple of decent physicians, but this isn't enough to off-set the overall attitude of the office.
Most times I feel rushed and when I voice a concern it was usually treated with little attention. I think all parents worry to much about their children it is is a great disposition to have. Probably, the best. To have doctor's regard your concerns with little interest is a pretty big turn off.
Both my children are under 2 so it was important for me to feel I was treated (and especially them) with time and attention.
If you have the choice I would choose another office if treatment is something you value. If I wanted 'fast food' I would've gone to the drive thru...

Dr. Small is the only doctor I do not prefer to see. This is because I felt he didn't take my concerns seriously. I know he see's many kids but a parent does know thier child best.
P.S. Love Dr. Soars. He always remember my children and you can tell he loves what he does!!3

Love, Love, Love this group. I had heard bad reviews prior to going there and every visit (20+ now) has far surpassed my expectations. Physicians and staff have been more than helpful. All calls have been immediately returned by nurses or the nurse practitioner there and my questions are always answered sympathetically and unrushed. Every procedure, exam, etc has been explained in detail. Scheduling is always accommodating. Acute same day appointments are always available. More than once I've had to call early afternoon with an emergency and have been able to get a late afternoon or early evening appt. The building may look deceivingly old, but the care is consistent, comprehensive, and current. I love these guys.

I have been taking my 2 year old daughter to Dover Ped's since she was born and I love them. They went the extra mile for me when I was having trouble with b'feeding. They have a lactation nurse on staff and she was absolutely wonderful, her name is Dawn. She worked with me and took extra time and always called me back immediately when I had questions. She is 90% of the reason I cont'd to b'feed my daughter as long as I did, I was ready to give up because it was so hard for us at first. I have found that all the doctors are good, with the exception of Dr. Small. He might have the papers that say he is a doctor but that is all. Zero bedside manner. He made me feel like I was crazy to bring my daughter in on more than one occasion. Now I make sure that when I go in I don't see him. Dr. Lally is our favorite - she is amazing. So kind, caring, and you can tell - she loves what she does. She has always exhibited respect to us and gave us practical and reasonable advice. Most of all, I trust her. Dr. Laramee is our next favorite. I also really like Dr. Van. He's very nice and always playful with our daughter, he must see a hundred kids a week but when we see him, he makes us feel special. I think the office staff is good too, they've always been helpful to me, and when we go in for visits, they're extremely nice and patient. This office just went through a 'face lift' and the new paint and upgrades have helped take them out of the 70's retro look they had going on, so it's much more 'light and bright' in here. I would strongly encourage those who are thinking about Dover Ped's to check them out - they are worth it!

I have been a patient at Dover Peds since I was an Infant. There has only been one time that their diagnosis has been off or wrong, and that's after 19 years of going there. But even in that case, they saw me six times over a two week period. I think I have been to all the doctors over the year, and all of them take the time to care about their patients.

As a first time mom I did have a few questions. like how much time on each side for BF babies. they acted like I didn't have a clue and treated me like I was 12 I was 21. the rushed every appt.

their newborn care in the hospital wasn't much better. 20 sec looking at my kids.

I have been taking my 9-month old here since she was born. We have seen Dr. Small for all but one of her visits and we love him. I realize his demeanor is maybe not suited for all parents, but he is patient and reassuring. He always makes sure we don't have any further questions before he administers the immunizations. He is great with the kids and that's what really matters. We've only seen Dr. Laramee once and she was very kind.

I also want to say that the staff here have always been very helpful for me. I have had some annoying issues with my insurance company and they are always willing to make as many follow up calls with them as needed. The office itself is a bit old, but otherwise this is the perfect practice.

Hurried service, rude office staff, and lack of professionalism. If I could give zero stars, I would. Please ask around before making this decision.

I appreciate all that Dr. Soares has done for my son. I recommend his care in seeking the best interest of his patients.

I brought my son in recently for care and was told if he gets worse to call and we would be helped. I called the following day and spoke with the receptionist and nurse and asked to have my son seen as he got extremely worse and was told that they were booked for the day and to call in the am for an appt if he was worse! The reception is always rude and unsympathetic.

They are the starting point for the care of your child. It is unfortunate that this practice is not child or family friendly.

As for Dr. Small, I feel that he hurried us out rudely and talked down to us.

Overall I would not recommend this practice because I do not feel that there is enough focus on the best interest of the child. Since this is a team effort I am disappointed. A lot of these issues have been consistent for years and changes don't seem to be made. Which is unfortunate for Doctors like Dr. Soares. I will be looking for a new pediatric facility.

I have been bringing my 3 year old daughter here since she was born. There have been a few times that I wanted to switch to another practice but found that the other tell-tale good practices were just too far away.
Some of the doctors here are great! And some of them are great only some of the time. Others, never.
There were a few times that we saw Dr. Small and I found him to be terribly rude and rushed. As a new, young mom, I would over react a bit to colds and ear infections (as any first time mom will) and rather than reassure me, he almost made me feel dumb for taking up his time. And often times he would just leave the room at the end without allowing me to ask him further questions about my daughters health.
She had many ear infections in a row...at least 9 of them. And rather than give her tubes, they just kept puting her on stronger and stronger medication which would then only upset her stomache and make her miserable in other ways.
I now ask for them NOT to schedule my appointments with Dr. Small and things seem quite a bit better. But I still feel as though its too rushed and they dont particularly care about my child.
But then again...I know there are alot of patients their....

I have three young children, 2 year old twin girls and a four year old daughter with significant cardiac issues. When my oldest daughter was born, Dr. Laramee misdiagnosed her heart condition sending us on a wild goose chase through two medical centers and practically three states. If that wasn't bad enough, other doctors in the practice have NO IDEA about the health or well being of their patients, and quite frankly don't seem to care that they have no idea. "Get 'em in and get 'em out" seems to sum up the general attitude of the folks working there. Unfortunately, this is a sign of the times in the medical field. Luckily my oldest sees a pediatric cardiologist at Children's Hospital in Boston who takes good care of her.

I have found most of the doctors here to be rude. Dr. Small being the worst by far. He was outright demeaning to my wife.
Rather than leave a scathing review I talked with the office manager who was very plesant and receptive. I hope that she is able to correct this problem and that future patients have a positive experience here.

We found Dover Peds to be a large, busy practice that was unable to return phone calls promptly, coordinate care with specialists and had a very rude old Dr on their staff (Dr. Sorensen). Dr. Lally was pleasant but was unable to offer us support or guidance to my child or our family during a long and difficult illness with multiple surgeries. At best she was uninvolved, uninformed and ignored us till we went away. This lack of caring from our primary care professional made a difficult time for our family more difficult.
