Contrary to some other reviews, I find Dr. Lavoie to be a wonderful, caring doctor. Yes, she is not all touchy-feely and sugar coating everything. But, she is honest, straight-forward, and makes sure you understand what is going on. Shas has always given me her utmost attention and takes as much tim as I have needed with her. I miscarried and she was very supportive and explained the process and procedure throroughly. I highly recommend her to anyone who appreciates honesty and a caring doctor.

I went to Wendover OB-GYN from the time I was 16 yr old. The OB-GYN back then was a wonderful, soft-spoken man named Kelly Maness. Although his office was often so covered with stacks of magazines and mail, that you knew he could find what he was looking for in an instant. Above his desk was a carefully framed piece of artwork that someone had lovingly needle-pointed "A Messy Desk is a Sign of Genius". I continued to go to him for at least 20 years until he passed away a few years back. The person that moved into his office space was Marie-Lyne Lavoie, MD, so I switched over to her. I've never been quite sure if it's a cultural lack of warmth, a personal inability to connect with patient's, or just the fact that Dr. Maness's shoes would be almost impossible to fill for me...but I have never found her to be anywhere near as warm and caring as Dr.Maness was. I think what topped it for me was when during the most internal, interpersonal part of the exam, she once answered her cell phone With her OTHER hand.... saying that it was from one of her children and she Had to take it. I had really mixed feelings about this. This is a person who brings a ton of little ones into the World each year, so she clearly values their presence... and it was said in her wonderful, soft French accented English... but I found it TERRIBLY uncomfortable and I found it to be very unprofessional. I have continued to go there, but I have been conflicted.

I saw Dr Lavoie for my first pregnancy. I always felt like I was in good hands medically, but she never seemed to put any effort into connecting with me. I had several problems through out my pregnancy that she just brushed off. I don't even truely think she believed me for the most part.

She is a fine medical doctor, but I need my OB to give me a little more then just medical care. I have switched OB's for my next pregnancy.
