I visited this office for the first time in my child's 1st year. The office was riddled with notices of what you could and could not do there and they enforce to the letter! Dr.Kaufman and the Staff were very arrogant, confrontational and completely apathetic. There was no regard to their patients needs. The first clue was that in a pediatric office that services children, parents were not allowed to dispose of wet or soiled diapers in their restroom trash bin, this struck me as rediculous. I was sent out of the office to dispose of my child's wet diaper after asking to use the rest room to change her. It was January, snow and ice on the ground, and a mom having to carry her child out of the office through this narrow shotgun alley parking area, to a dumpster in the alley to dispose of it. Not even an outdoor trash bin could they service anywhere safely near the door of the office. When have you ever been in a pediatrics environment and met hostility in providing your child a diaper change? They were lazy not to simply service a trash bin but it was crystal clear that they couldn't care less about their patients. Dr. Kaufman was robotic and spoke an absolute minimum to both child and parent and displayed a disturbing lack of humanity or bed side manner. What a sad and dissapointing display he and this staff offered. Returned there nearly 5 years later to find the same apathetic disfunctional office environment with beautiful kids awaiting treatment by disengaged unhappy adults who seemed miserable in the world they have created in that office space. This isn't just about diaper changes. Never second guess yourself. I felt bad energy there the 1st time and it was exactly the same at the later time. Nobody was just having a bad day there, its just the way they do things. Schedule your child's appointment somewhere else the moment you experience such dissapointing consideration to patients and their families. They showed me just how little they cared about me and my child right from the start.

Will post comment as treatment and progress is continued. As of now, Dr.Kaufmann is a pretty good doctor. He is extemely knowledgeable in his field. I do suggest a bit more compassion and warmth; being a pediatric doctor and all. Overall, he cares for his pateints and wants to find the best answer possible for his patients.

We went there one time only, my daughter was 5 weeks old and we were trying to find out if she had a visual impairment, they told us nothing in the NICU, just referred him to us, because his office was close to me. He was awful to my daughter, I thought I was overreacting as a mother, but as I retold the story to 3 more doctors, they were shocked of his treatment. He forced her eyes open with the metal "tongs" without any numbing spray and left her like that for over 5 minutes. Her eyelids were bruised and swollen for 3 days. He gave us the diagnosis in a VERY blunt manner told us to "LOOK IT UP" and said she's pretty much blind, not white cane blind, but she'll never drive or see anything more than the big E on the chart. He said her cataracts weren't a big deal and he'd see her back in 3 months and we'd go from there. The next 3 doctors we went and saw said she needed immediate removal, if we wanted her vision to start developing. He was a complete nightmare to us. Now, I will say that he at least diagnosed her correctly, but his bedside manner and treatment of her was not commendable in the least.
