After reading the previous review on Lisa Rubin, M.D. I had to respond with my Positive experiences with her. I came to her with concerns of my Heavy Bleeding and Painful cycles. I was consulted with and I was educated on my Symptoms! My previous experiences with Ob/Gyn providers they have never taken the time out to EDUCATE me on anything. So I first thought while I like her!! I was then given options for my condition which resulted in a minor procedure that was a Success!! I personally think Dr. Rubin is an excellent Physician with her Patients as her Primary Concern not a NUMBER or what payment she's gonna get for this visit. I have referred a number of patients to her and will continue.

I would strongly recommend not choosing this doctor.

Bad bedside manner. Not exactly warm and friendly. Doesn't care about her patients: patients are practically a number with insurance money attached to them with a long wait time, clearly overbooks. Doesn't talks with patients - talks at them. Doesn't allow them to ask questions/address concerns.

A little background... about five months ago I started having abdominal pain with an episode that landed me in the emergency room thinking my appendix burst. The er doctor runs tests, talks with me, with the final diagnosis of a possible ovarian cyst rupture since the pain subsided after a while and the cat scan showed excessive fluid in my pelvis. He suggested I go to my ob/gyn. So... I scheduled an appointment... three and a half months out. She suggested switching birth control pills, keeping a log and seeing her every three months. Unfortunately... this ob/gyn is about an hour away and very hard to get appointments with... I decided it was time to switch and find a new doctor closer to home since I would be spending more time with them. That's when I found Dr. Lisa Rubin. Seemed like a good match: close to home, takes my insurance, 20+ years of experience and best of all... it didn't take three-four months to get an appointment. I went to her office for the initial appointment - about two months ago. The office is in a shopping plaza next to a Subway and other shops... not a medical building/center but okay. The place is packed though... it is clear she overbooks and keeps patients waiting. The office staff are very professional and quite pleasant. I like that. After about an hour wait I was taken back. Nurse does routine information : height, weight, blood pressure, etc. Then I was told we were going to be meeting in her office before an exam. I'm thinking this is great.... a doctor that takes the time to meet with her patients. Boy was I wrong! She came in after another wait of 20 minutes or so. Completely frazzled and not exactly friendly. She asked questions and took notes for 20 minutes or so. More writing then talking. Didn't ask me if I had any questions and when I did... apparently I was speaking out of turn... she wasn't interested in my questions/concerns. She had her agenda. I'm thinking okay... maybe she's just having a bad day. It happens. Did the exam. Script for an ultrasound and follow up appointment in one month. Nurse took me for blood work. We made small talk I asked her about her job - do you like what you do, working here, etc. Then I asked about Dr. Rubin. Is she having a bad day? She seems mad. She responds... Oh really I hadn't noticed. Normally she's very nice. Okay... it must be an off day or something. Went back next month. Same thing. Place is packed... takes about 30 minutes or so to get called. Same nurse - very nice and pleasant. Takes weight, blood pressure... looks at my chart, okay you're here for your ultrasound follow up. I'll let Dr. Rubin know. She'll either meet you in here or I'll take you to her office. Wait 20 minutes. Dr. comes in... again... clearly angry at the sight of me. I'm thinking ok it wasn't a bad day... it's clearly me. I must remind her of a mean girl from high school or something. Asks questions... takes notes. Every time I ask a question... ignores me... sits there taking notes. She stands up puts a gown on the table and says "bottoms off, I'll be back with you shortly". Seriously? I said excuse me... I thought I was here for a follow up on my ultrasound. I wasn't prepared for an exam today (I had an appointment to go to) and I don't want an exam today. I would like my ultrasound results please. Oh boy she was mad. How dare I have a different opinion/deviate from her agenda. She told me she knows what's best and I was taking my frustration out on her. I told her no I clearly came to you for help, I don't feel like you're not listening to me and to be completely honest... you have a bad bedside manner. You don't care about my questions/concerns. You're not friendly and nice. She told me maybe this just isn't working out between us. I agreed. She practically threw my ultrasound results at me - normal by the way - and walked out. Okay. Seriously... what doctor behaves like this. Unbelievable! I have no idea what's wrong with this lady. Clearly... I resemble someone she hates. I hope she doesn't treat all her patients like this but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that she does.
