My husband and I went to the office of Lockhart and Yeatts from a recommendation. The first several visits were fine. Kelly, the nurse practitioner was very kind and listened very well. I did not like how she tried pushing the prenatal vitamins that seemed to be their "promotional" item at the time and was too expensive. I did not like that you do not get to meet the doctor until you are at 30 weeks. My husband and I had come with several questions to ask at this first meeting with Dr. Lockhart. He asked a few questions and joked around a little bit and somehow before we knew it he had slipped out of the room and we had many questions we didn't get a chance to ask. He tried to do this again at the second visit only this time we had to call him back into the room when he was trying to walk out the door. We actually had to tell him to sit down, we are not done and that we still had questions for him. It was aweful, like pulling teeth. Yeatts wasn't the best but he was much more willing to answer questions than Lockhart was. The day of the birth is an experience that I wish upon nobody. I went in because I thought my water broke. The nurse tested it with a strip and confirmed that it was amniotic fluid and that I hadn't dialated at all yet. (It actually broke the night before but it wasn't much and the doctor on call told me I just pee'd myself and to call back if it happens again. It didn't happen again until the next morning) Lockhart was on call and shows up and says he was going to check and see how far along I was. (Keep in mind they do this every vist in the last 10 weeks or so, so you know how it feels) He goes to "check it out" and this time it is extremely painful and he is there for much longer than any checks before. He pulls his hand out and there was an actual gush of fluid this time. The only conclusion I can come to is that he was trying to manually dialate me to speed up the process but instead of telling me this, he only told me he was checking to see how far along I was. Suddenly I went from nothing to 1cm after he was done!! Not cool. At this point it had been about 14 hours and was about 2-3pm. My husband and I were trying to decide what to do because Dr. Lockhart was pusing the c-section on us pretty hard. We couldn't believe it but since we weren't being giving any information about other options as freely as we were being pushed toward the c-section we tried hashing it out for over an hour. He would come in every 15 min or so pushing the c-section again. We ended up being scared into the c-section because hey kept putting it out there that the risk for infection goes way up after 24 hours and made it sound like things were probably gonna be worse the other way and end up with a c-section anyway. AAAHHHHH. It was so confusing at the time and I wish I knew about midwifes at the time because I never would have gone this route. I would not recommend this office to anyone that wants to know what is going on with their body and the pregnancy. Lockhart is difficult to get to stick around to answer questions and I firmly believe that he was pushing the c-section on us because that is what would have been the most convenient for him. Did I mention that my c-section just so happen to be right before dinner time on a Saturday?

FYI - for all you expecting mothers out there, please take the time to stop and dont be afraid to ask questions. There is a great documentary out there by Ricky Lake called "The Business of Being Born" Please do some research and look for a doctor, midwife, or doula that will have your interests and birthing plan at heart!

Adequate to good health care; however, the doctors are very impersonal. They tend to be very old-school - trust without asking questions. If you like to be informed and ask questions about your own care and body, don't choose this practice. They want total trust, compliance, and control.

I went to Drs. Lockhart & Yeatts for my last pregnancy and they were fantastic! All of their staff is super friendly and they always take the time to answer all of your questions. Unfortunately, neither one was working when I actually delivered, but Dr. King was great as well. I felt just as comfortable with him as I would have with the others. Both Lockhart and Yeatts came in to visit me and my newborn numerous times while we were at the hospital after our delivery. I will definitely go to them again for my next pregnancy.

I was a patient of Dr.'s Lockhart and Yeatts during the pregnancy of my son. I also saw Cheryl Sharp, the nurse practitioner there, and I thought both Yeatts and Sharp were wonderful. Very professional, understanding, helpful, kind.. just great! Lockhart was friendly and humorous but he didn't seem very personal with me or my husband. He never remembered us from the last visit (or maybe hadn't checked our charts?) and just didn't make me feel 100% comfortable at our visits. My delivery, which he was on call for, was horrible. I came in with contractions at 40 1/2 weeks and they put me on Potosin to make my labor go faster. He came to check on me a few times and every single time he said "So what are we having here?" (Boy or girl) Could he not remember from an hour before? Weird. A few hours and an epidural (which I hadn't planned to have, and wouldn't have if it hadn't been for that horrible potosin) later, I was ready to push. Dr. Lockhart was drinking his coffee in the hallway and made me wait to push.. it was horrible. While I was pushing he had his hand on a sensitive area on my vagina and pressed really hard. I screamed and tried to push his hand away and he yelled at me not to push his hand. It was a stressful moment for everyone, but I wish he had been more gentle and understanding of me. He then stitched me up without checking whether I could feel the stitching. I could.
I'm not going back to Lockhart & Yeatts.
