Haven't been to the dentist in years. Deathly afraid.... SO when I got this horrible toothache I called them for HELP!
They saw me RIGHT AWAY! They accepted my insurance and treated me kindly. I only wanted to address my tooth ache but for $35.00 they were willing to do this full exam of my whole mouth and get a full estimate. I am still seeing them to get my smile back and it has been such a worth while experience. If you see them ask for a full quote instead of just getting 1 thing done. It really opened my eyes to the fact that it was time to get my smile and teeth back to health.

The prices were very high , One hundred and ninety five dollars to pull a tooth?
Other dentists charge 90.00 per tooth
Obviousely some of these other reviews are from the employees that work there.
The doctor was nice and professional though..
what cracked me up though, is he came out with a price to fix all the teeth for eight thousand dollars, like most working americans have eight thousand dollars lying around the house.
And he acts like its a mere pittance. Soon we will walking around all toothless like English people at these price rates.

I recently had a tooth ache and did not have a dentist. I called several dental offices on saturday hoping that they would be open; I luckely called Long Beach Total Dental Care. The receptionist was so kind to squeeze me in, she advised me to come in and that they might be a wait because patients that had booked appointments had to be seen first. I headed towards the office, when I arrived, even though it was Saturday, they were able to verify my insurance and to see me that day. As soon as I filled out the paperwork, I was seated. A couple x-rays were taken, the male dr, Dr Singh came in and examined my broken tooth. He gave me two options; I could fix the tooth by doing a root canal or I could pull it. He suggested that I pull it because the tooth may cause more problems in the future. So I decided to pull it. I was very thankful, he was very honest, other dentist would have done a root canal even knowing that the tooth may be problematic in the future.

Dr Singh was very honest and he suggested the best option for me not what would make him more money. In addition, he suggested that I get a full exam because there were other teeth that didn't look very healthy. He ordered more x-rays. He then came back in the room and examined my full mouth. I had 6 cavities and needed 2 crowns, he explained to me why I needed the fillings/crowns and where they were located. They put a video were it explained what a crown was and the reasons why I needed it. Also, a video of the different types of fillings and the advantages and disadvantages of both.Everything was very clear which allowed me to make informed decisions about my teeth. The receptionist came in, showed me the estimate for everything. I wanted to get all my teeth fixed after seeing how bad my mouth was but I didn't have a lot of money. Thankfully, they have a payment plan. The receptionist was able to put me in a plan for 12 months and no interest at all.

I am so happy with the services. All my teeth are now fixed even though I am still paying for it.
I am so thankfull for their honesty; they did a great job.

I really liked this dental office, the work I needed was very expensive but they were able to work with my finances. That was great. I recommend this place.

I like this place but they are expensive. I honestly like the service in general, staff was friendly, doctors articulated the diagnosis in simple terms. They play a video of the procedures I needed, which really helped me get a better idea of what services I needed and why I needed them.
Only problem was they didn't take HMO insurances only PPO.

I've been to several dental offices and the treatment I received was just OK, full of pain as expected when you go to see a dentist, and full of mystery. I didn't know what exactly I was getting done nor what exactly my insurance covered or how much they would pay. Dr's usually didn't speak English very well and the worst thing is that they wouldn't look to me in my eye at all. I'm the kind of woman who likes to look into the eyes when conversing with others, it enhances the trust, in my opinion. I guess I was looking for an honest Dr whom I could be able to trust my mouth and health to.
Another thing I often found was, that many offices do not explain in details nor have any informative videos of what procedures I needed, I'm not a dentist, I don't know what was it that dentist wanted to do. All I knew was, " you need a root canal, a crown, and build up on your upper left, and a filling on LL." , "Oh, and your crown is not covered because you have a waiting period, and your white filling is no covered only the silver kind." Why do I have a waiting period, for how long, and wait, what does that mean, "my white fillings are not covered, my booklet said "fillings covered at the 80 % level."
I wonder "can't they see that I'm not a dentist nor a dental receptionist who handles and knows everything about insurance." I needed more clarification. I had questions, but receptioinist and doctors would just walk out without even asking me if I had any questions.

I, personally want to know what exactly what I'm going to get done and most importantly, what am I spending my money on. But when I came to Long Beach Total Dental Care in pain, all my confusions disappeared. They made me feel so special that I referred all my family, friends and coworkers. I didn't have to ask any questions, the doctor explained to me what I needed, he even taught me a few lessons about my teeth that I ignored. For example how many teeth I had, my molars, premolars. And the best things is that doctor was interested in my personal life, he would ask me questions about my self and I asked questions about himself. I got to know the doctor in a more friendly way then simply a doctor who was a bunch of patients to see, and who dedicates only 10 minutes to read x-rays. After my initial visit, I felt as if knew the two doctors and event the staff personally. That made me feel comfortable.

I'm very greatfull that I've ended up in this office. Where the receptionist always greet me as soon as I walk in, they even know my name. When I come to see the dentist I'm glad to see them, but I remember a few years ago. I was afraid, had no idea what was going to be done in my mouth, and sometimes dentists were brutal. But in Long Beach Total Dental Care, especially Dr. Prostroller is so gently. When she numbed me to prepare my tooth for a crown, she gave me a massage on my upper lips, which decreased my anxiety and the pain.

I have no complaints to make about this office. After being to several dental offices, as a human being, I realized that none of them were perfect, even Long Beach Total Dental Care. I must say, they are not perfect, and I honestly don't expect them to be perfect, but just enough to fit my necessities . I'm so blessed that my only hope now is to find a physician like that.

I tried this place out because it was closer to work and my guy friends tried to tell me how cool it was that it is super high-tech, and you have your own TV screen, and you can watch a movie while they work on you, blah, blah, blah. Big mistake. I should have driven the extra 10-15 minutes and stuck with Long Beach Dental Group office where I had gone to for a couple years and been happy. Here's what happened...

I walk in the door and with the basic paperwork they have you fill out, it was like they were trying to sell me every cosmetic dental procedure they could. Heck, after reading about their payment plan and all the options, I was scared to sign since it might have meant I was signing up to have breast augmentation too.

So, I finally get into the chair. She hands me a fairly substantial list of movies and I pick out some romantic comedy or something. She sets up the DVD, but sort of forgets to wait to push play on the Main Menu. So I listen to the repeated intro music of the main menu for about 35 minutes till she finally comes back. Gee, at that point, the added bonus of watching a movie while they work on you just wasn't that great. But by the end, my guess is the reason they have movies is because they take so frickin long!

One of the "cool,high-tech" features is that they can take xrays from your chair. I am not sure if the nurse I had was new, but xrays are not supposed to be painful. The way she was sticking those plastic xray strips in my mouth, I was pretty sure she was slicing my gums open. Well, when the doctor came in, she said that all the xrays of my back teeth had to be redone. Yay.

Then came time for the cleaning. I had to wait another 20 minutes because someone else was using their high-tech tool (the pointy one that removes tartar). So, she turns this thing on and it has the worst high-pitch screeching sound. Now, I've been to quite a few different dentists because I've moved a lot. I've never been sensitive to the sound of this thing. But maybe it was because it was high-tech? And by the way... again, it is not supposed to be painful. I've been a little sensitive sometimes, but not fully in pain with the 6 other dentists I've been to.

So finally the doctor comes in. Woo-hoo. She looks at my teeth and my xrays. She says I have 4 cavities and need all 4 wisdom teeth out. I suspected about my wisdom teeth, but I've never had a cavity in my life!!! So while they play a cheesy, uniformative video about cavities for me (since I don't even know what they are), they go talk to my insurance about how much it would cost to have my wisdom teeth out and 4 fillings. They come back and my wisdom teeth are covered but the fillings are gonna cost like $165 each or something. They offered to do one or two while I was there, and I basically just wanted to get the hell out.

Sooooo... I went in for a cleaning and 2 hours later, I was finally out of there. 2 hours. Really? It was supposed to be a CLEANING. Thankfully, I didn't do anything about the fillings or he wisdom teeth. I went back to the wonderful Long Beach Dental Group on 7th and Redondo when it came time for my 6 month check up. Dr. Papadopolous told me I had NO cavities (he double checked) and that only the bottom two wisdom teeth should come out sooner rather than later. It made me so mad that Total Dental Care was trying to put me through the pain of 4 fillings, make me pay for them, and cheat my insurance! Don't go to this place. All the "high-tech" stuff is sooooo not worth it.

I have to tell you that I, like most people hate visiting the dentist. My visit to Long Beach Total was the most amazing experience. I can actually say I had a great time getting my teeth cleaned. The Male Doctor, Dr. Singh, I saw was so knowledgeable and professional. He has an Australian accent but speaks very clearly and articulately. He explained everything very clearly and used lots of visual aids such as photographs of my teeth and informational DVDs to help educate me about my teeth and gums. Who takes out the time to do that these days? I have insurance through my job and had been to see a different dentist one week earlier. I didn't like the other office so I switched. Dr. Singh diagnosed exactly the same 3 cavities as the previous dentist but advised me to do fillings on only 2 of them. He told me to floss my teeth more frequently and that we would look at the other smaller cavity again during my 6 month checkup. The office is very clean and modern with digital x-rays. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Everyone is very young but they all seem extremely diligent and compassionate. The waiting room is clean and modern and each dental room has a flat screen TV which plays DVDs. They have a long list of movies you can watch while they work on your mouth. I have referred my entire family to Long Beach Total Dental.

My experience of Total Dental Care is mixed. The dentists themselves seem knowledgable and I was pleased with the work they did. The prices are reasonable, however I did feel that they tried to "upsell" several procedures- saying I had all these teeth with large problems when I've never a)had any pain/discomfort in those teeth and b) never was told by two previous dentists that these were areas to even watch. But they are trying to make a living- fair enough. I had done just what I felt I needed.

My main problem with the practice is that the office appears dirty. They have nice newish equipment- but the tile floor has dust bunnies everywhere and the dental chair had all sorts of marks on it- making me wonder when it had last been wiped down. (However everything that they put in my mouth was sterile.) They are young dentists, obviously ambitious and hard-working - but they need to have their office be as professional as their manners. Even the front desk and small office room behind the front area had books and loose papers stacked everywhere- not impressive. And the office staff are friendly, but they seem totally untrained and uncertain- they had to be directed by the dentists to suction, set up basic things, etc. Perhaps they are just new...

PROS: Good, affordable work
CONS: DIRTY floors make a bad impresssion

I recently had a dental emergency. I had slipped and fallen and knocked my front tooth out. Well I called my friend who had been raving about his dentist for over a year to me and got the phone number for Total Dental Care, and made my appointment. I was seen that very day. Now like most people, I fear the dentist and even though it was an emergency was still a bit scared. I have now changed my views and any fears I may have had regarding dental visits are long gone. I had the most wonderful experience at Total Dental Care. I saw Dr. P and also Dr. Singh. Both had the best chair side manner I have ever seen. The assistants were great and informative every step of the way. I even was offered the option to view a movie. I chose Wedding Crashers. I knew modern dentistry had come a long ways but this was light years away from anything I had thought. The price was most reasonable for all the work that I needed to replace my lost tooth. The work by the way was exceptional. My temporary tooth had to be freehand designed since there was no tooth to mold to. Again, excellent results. I go back in two weeks and I am actually looking forward to my visit. They also have a care credit program for those of us who have no insurance. I am eternally grateful to all who saved me at Total Dental Care and I will be referring to them often.

PROS: Excellent Doctors, Perfect Customer Service, Reasonable Prices
