Rude staff and frequent mishandling of insurance issues has forced me to make a change. Her staff cannot be good for her business.

I used to recommend this doctor to others despite the shortcomings of the staff but I no longer can.

This is the first time I have ever reviewed someone on-line, but I felt like I should voice my concerns. Dr. Mariotti seems to be a nice person, however, a little unprofessional. I voiced a concern about an illness that runs in my family that she was not familiar with and told me she would research it and get back to me. . . she never did. Also, I tried to get into the office on a Thursday for a UTI (very painful) and was told I had to wait until the following Tuesday to get in. My other family physicians I have had in the past would get me right in. The office staff are not friendly or sympathetic. They are also closed on Fridays with is inconvenient.

I've been seeing Dr. Mariotti since she started in Royal Oak and all I can say is she's great. I've referred several friends and family members to see her and they've all loved her. The bad review on this site of Dr. Mariotti make me laugh. They couldn't be more wrong. I think some people aren't used to a doc that isn't just going to hand out antibiotics and who runs on time and expects you to run on time as well. Over the years I've seen Dr. Mariotti she's gotten busier and it's harder to get a same day appointment unless you call right when they open. But I'm told by the staff that they do leave a set number of appointments open each day that reserved for same day ones. And if you call right away when they open you have a good chance of getting in.

Here's a list to help people decide if Dr. Mariotti's right for them (in my option):
- If you like a doc that sees you with in 10 minutes of your appointment time.
- If you are the type of person who can show up on time for your appointment time.
- If you don't want a doc who over books and actually will spend time with you.
- If you want a doc who's not going to just give you antibiotics and kick you out the door but actually treat your problem correctly
- You want a doc who talks to you like a normal person. My dad went and saw her and said it was the first time he left a doctors office less confused then when he went in.

Here's a list to help decide if Dr. Mariotti is NOT right for them:
- You think it's ok to show up 30 minutes late for your appointment and still be seen (I did this once and they turned me away but I understand that I was late and missed my time, so I wasn't mad)
- You want to go to a doc where you can tell them what they should do and they'll do it. When I first saw her I thought I needed antibiotics but Dr. Mariotti explained why I didn't and I'm the smarter and better off for it, too many doc just hand them out like a cure all.

So if you can't tell I really like Dr. Mariotti. I'm sure she can't make everyone happy and there will be people that just won't like anyone they see. But I LOVE her and everyone I've referred to her has LOVED her.

S Dight.

P.S. Dr. Mariotti loves dogs! (and just got a cat too) It's worth going there just to see the HUGE pictures of her pets!

the office staff is terrible: when calling on more than one occasion for urgent issues, they were less than helpful and wanted me to wait a week (more than once!). when asking to speak with the doctor via phone myself, the phone person was rude beyond belief and said that it would not be possible and we'd have to continue to play our game of telephone where she would relay messages to the doctor for me, but the messages were always garbled and the office staff misspoke my questions more than once so i did not get the information i needed. while i felt like she was attentive to me, i also felt like she did not take me as seriously as other better doctors i have had in the past. i felt like she didnt really listen to my symptoms, and was very quick to diagnose me. except it turned out her diagnosis was wrong on two occasions. i'd already stopped seeing her by that point and i was so fed up with her office staff not relaying messages and questions when i asked, that i simply stopped going. she is very friendly and "chummy" with patients, and that's nice and relaxing, but i dont think she listens to medical related issues as well as she should. she seems like a very nice woman, but i don't feel like she's as sharp as she needs to be to be a successful doctor. also, if she could improve her listening skills, it would benefit her and her patients greatly.

Dr. Mariotti is a well informed doctor who tells it like it is and gives you realistic options. She is friendly and approachable. I gave her 4 stars because the last 2 times I called in to make an appointment, she was out of the office and directed me to another physician.

PROS: Well informed
CONS: staff could be friendlier

Finally a down to earth Doctor that will help me better tune up my body. She tells it like it is. Doesn't pull any punches and yet makes you want to help yourself. Explains things to the lay folk like me. What meds she is going to give me and why. How to take them and when. Keeps a watchful eye on problem areas in your health. Staff is short sighted sometimes. They phoned in my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. Hmmmm...

PROS: Great Doctor.
CONS: Keep staff on their toes.
